Mounting them on the wall adds a stylish presentation and keeps them organized. Underneath glass coffee tables can be used to showcase your favorite collectibles, either neatly arranged on a decorative tray or on the bottom surface. This not only maximizes visual appeal but also keeps your home free from clutter.

Gallery walls can be created using vertical space, with framed shelves, and mixed with other decorative items to catch the eye. These methods not only add a stylish presentation but also keep your collectibles organized and easily accessible.

It is often associated with Scandinavian or Japanese interiors, where a less-is-more ideology is embraced. However, minimalist homes are not just about clutter-free rooms with white walls and minimal furnishings. The aesthetic is more about clean lines, limited ornamentation, a neutral color scheme, and natural materials.

Clutter refers to disorganized items in a home that people accumulate and hold onto. If you answer yes to any of the following questions, you likely have some degree of clutter in your home: owning items you no longer need, having a “junk drawer”, buying new items to replace lost ones, lacking access to certain spaces, or fearing houseguests over due to the messy state of your home. By addressing these issues, you can improve the organization and functionality of your home, ultimately leading to a more organized and functional space.

To maintain organization in your home, shelve items in order based on height, color, or category. Avoid clashing colors by placing complementary colors next to each other. Store bulky items at the back and smaller ones at the front of your displays. Group items like small, medium, and large vase as a trio. Don’t overcrowd items, leaving enough space between them. Display your collection proudly in your home, ensuring it looks neat and well-curated.

To create a clutter-free room, avoid displaying too many decorative accents on a table surface. Group smaller items on a tray, varying their size and scale, and not crowding the tray. Display odd numbers of items together, such as three or five items, or elevate small objects on a stack of books. Edit your accessories carefully to only display items you love or are functional, and store the rest in storage.

To create a balanced and organized gallery wall, start by getting matching frames and rehanging pieces in a simple, contained shape. Arrange the frames so there is a consistent amount of space around them, and hang the frames to create a sense of balance and organization. This will help create a cohesive and visually appealing space in your room.

What makes a room look messy?

To avoid clutter in your home, avoid filling every room with furniture that is too large or not in use. Remove unnecessary pieces and clutter. If you have a shoe-free home, create a shoe storage solution that works for your family. This could be bins, shelves, or a combination of both. • My strategy with decor so far has been to keep taking things away until I love it. In the end, it usually looks like an empty space with a couple of things added back in. I mean, if I still love the thing, I can keep it in rotation or in a different spot. However, I don’t keep much homeless decor. And I don’t permit myself to buy decor until I can think of where I would put it. The best decor pieces have always been the ones I bought for a specific space. 🙂 I certainly have heard that one large statement piece of decor is far more effective than a bunch of smaller ones. That’s what I’m aiming for now.

  • Thank you for your wonderful ideas and tips.. I use to have an Art gallery of pictures of family and friends in my main room.. BTW I love my friends and family but it drove me nuts Its all i could see in my room I moved it into the hall way. Amazing the difference ..I was able to relax in my lounge.. Blessings 🌿

  • Loving this series and learning so much about myself. I am a collector of “little things” small figurines. I finally decided to use two shelves to display them and I rotate them to keep from having too many visual at one time. I love the idea of taking it away but not getting rid of. I did find that i could let go of some things when i put them away and realized didn’t really miss them anymore. Thanks for sharing

  • Very revealing for me. I have things in certain places and I only ever touch them or look at them to clean underneath. I’m dreading/ very excited about the sentimental stuff.😱 I have an old printer’s tray memory box of miniature items. 😂😂 There’s a broken rainbow pencil sitting beside a tiny shamrock sticker from a very crazy Paddy’s Day over 20 years ago. Someone stuck the wee shamrock sticker on my forehead and I was surprised to see it still there when I got home hours later.😂😂

  • I’m finding as I get a little older, I’m not so keen on decorating anymore. Although it is pleasing to the eye it also means maintenance dusting moving things around changing things up a little every once in a while. And I’m finding that I have more important things like spending time with my family or going for a long walks. If I’m at home decluttering, dusting then keeping things maintenanced, because I have so much of it… then it owns me instead of me owning it. So not too long ago, I decided to get rid of the majority of my decor and decorative items…except for a few. However now, I find myself saying I don’t really need all this. I’m over 50 I plan on living the last half of my life… clutter free and just only the things that I truly need. Now don’t get me wrong I will still have a few things to pretty things up. But instead of days packing if I move it will only take me a few hours or maybe one day fully. 💓😁 Thank you for all your articles you really have helped me and so many others on YouTube have helped me value who I am really on inside. 💓😁
