📹 Family Grieves Father and Son Killed in Massive House Explosion
Heart-stopping video captured a massive house explosion in Plum, Pennsylvania. The blast killed five people and destroyed three …
Going by the lack of colour in the blast smoke it really looks like a gas explosion. The level of destruction is akin to a large amount of high explosives. But with the reports of gas wells in the area it sure looks like a major gas explosion. The whole neighbourhood needs to be isolated and removed before there’s another tragedy
The thought that you could just be doing your every day thing in the safety and comfort of your own home one second and then just gone like that in an instant the next is utterly chilling. I feel for their family and friends, so many people’s lives changed in the blink of an eye. Absolutely devastating
38 years old, married to a woman he loves, with two children. A twelve-year-old boy with loving parents and a sister, his whole life ahead of him. Their lives ended in an instant, in what appears to be a total freak accident. Now they’re gone forever, and the mother and daughter will bear the scars of losing them so suddenly. Hug the people you love, folks, and no matter how angry you might be at someone you care about, never withhold those three powerful words from them; you might not get another chance to tell them.
There’s a lot of awful stories in the news these days. Something about this story just hits a little different. My heart goes out to the families, friends, and neighbors. I can’t imagine how it must feel to cope with such a sudden and catastrophic loss. Glad to see people donating to the go fund me❤️🙏
Very painful to know a 12 yr old lost their life. It’s always more painful to me when a young person passes because they didn’t get to experience life as much. To lose both a Husband and child at the same time has to be one of the most awful feelings. I hope the Mother and Daughter can pull through this. I still haven’t gotten over the passing of my 36 yr old brother over 2 years ago and I turn 37 very soon.
Stuff like this reminds me how grateful I am that i still have both parents, all my siblings and my kid. I was taking life for granted before, and then it hit me. Ended the relationship I was in and focused on God and my family. Never know when it might be the last time you see em. Heart goes out to this family and neighborhood. Tragic
I’m sorry to hear about the tragic incident and loss of life. It’s heartbreaking to see such devastation caused by the house explosion in Plum, Pennsylvania. My deepest condolences go out to the Clontz family and all those affected by this terrible event. The pain of losing a loved one is immeasurable, and it’s clear from the statement that Casey Clontz and his 12-year-old son brought immense happiness to their family and friends. May their memories bring comfort during this difficult time, and may the community come together to support one another in the process of healing and rebuilding.
My jaw is hanging in pure shock. From the moment I saw the explosion to seeing the aftermath, my jaw was open. My heart goes out to the mother and daughter who lost their father and husband and their son and brother. No amount of love, money, anything can make up for this tragedy. It’s incredibly saddening to know that this wasn’t just an accident but an accident that could’ve been entirely prevented from the very beginning. Rest in heavenly peace, and may your loved ones find closure.
With three homes, side by side, destroyed in a neighbourhood sitting over an abandoned coal mine, sounds like a methane gas explosion. Surprised the entire neighbourhood didn’t vanish in a fireball. Would be interesting to see the map of the mine and see if the 3 homes were situated overtop one passageway. City emergency services should go into that section of the mine to look for dead bodies of homeless people, as well.
This is why you need regulations, conservatives think this should be commonplace along with allowing corporations to poison our land (remember the train derailment in ohio?) VOTE DEM IF YOU WANT TO STOP STUFF LIKE THIS THE OHIO TRAIN DERAILMENT, THE FLORIDA CONDO COLLAPSE ETC ETC. REGULATION IS WRITTEN IN BLOOD. Rip to these people.
That is so sad and scary. Who thinks they could be sitting in their home and an abandoned mine just explodes?! Now you have families with their loved ones gone, homes destroyed and people homeless. Is that even something homeowner’s insurance would cover, a mine explosion? How do you even wrap your head around it. Things can be replaced but just thinking out loud for these people who now have to pick up the literal pieces of their lives and mourn their loved ones.
🎀🇺🇸🎀 My gosh. Huge is an understatement for what took place. Horrifying. For those who lost their life from the explosion. I have the deepest sorrow and sympathy for all who lost their lives. You can see the kindness in their eyes that each had. I hope that their family accepts the sadness that runs through all that have seen this story. May they be resting in peace. For the neighbors that lost their homes, everything that cannot be replaced, their photo albums that show the joy they captured during their life. I hope a massive explosion doesn’t happen again. Love to all.
There’s something about a home being destroyed like this that’s really sad for me to see. Home might be the most important place in one’s life. It’s full of countless memories and is a place of comfort for many even during bad times. It can rarely be truly replaced, and to see it just obliterated out of nowhere like this must be so hard. Not to mention in this case people were also killed. Rip to everyone lost, and I hope a cause can be found.
My neighbor’s house caught fire last winter due to crack in fireplace and they had lots of ammunition, apparently. It only sounded like a few minutes worth of fireworks, but never was there a huge explosion like this film. This appears like a heavily fueled explosion, like a great deal of some sort of gas or dynamite. That poor family and neighbors, just awful!!!
That was powerful for a house explosion. I’m not an expert, but my best guess in this scenario would be a case of a fuel air explosion. something must have happened to a gas pipe in the basement that caused the basement to fill with gas which mixed with the air to create an ideal stoichiometric ratio for an explosion. something triggered the explosion such as the furnace igniters kicking on (provided the furnace wasn’t faulted out from the minimized gas flow) otherwise several other things could have ignited it. the contained nature of a basement wouldn’t help either as it would have acted like the casing of a bomb, amplifying the blast. The scary thing about house explosions is that it could happen to anyone that has gas pipes. interested rest in peace to all the victims, and i hope there families, friends and the other survivors can heal from this tragic event.
WTF was that horrible constant siren that sounded like someone sunk a net in Hockey? I get the need to keep people away but that was nothing more than obnoxious and made a bad situation worse. Imagine trying to locate trapped survivors with that ignotarded sound going on. “Ummduh,… hey, everybody is stressed, lets blast this annoying sound nonstop”.
Im so confused how do you not know what caused this? Theres only a few possibility to explain this kind of explosion. Most like and my guess would be that gas had filled the inside of the house until it found an ignition source, but the 2 people being home make it hard to believe that much gas could accumulate without them noticing. Or they straight up had explosives and not like gunpowder but flash powder.
I remember as a teenager, walking to school, i was 6 blocks away when a house blew up. You could definitely feel it, and the sound was so loud. After i continued walking down so many police and emergency were there and all i saw was just ruble where a house was. Apparently it was a gas leak that killed one, who was living alone. I will never forget that day. Condolences to the lost ones.
I live nearby the house, same area. We’ve been trying to do everything we can as a community to donate to the remaining families victims but I can tell almost everyone is grieving. We believe it was some kind of gas leak combines with the contents of the home, so everyone’s been on edge. This is the third explosion here in 15 years, with inconsistent and unsure answers coming from each. The kid was just a grade below my sister, and she doesn’t know if one of the injured is a friend or not due to the lack of details. It’s all very stressful
I feel bad for the family and friends of those lost. May the ones lost Rest in Paradise. This reminds me of a house explosion that happened about two miles from my home in the winter. A gas leak caused the early January explosion that totally destroyed the home, and the home next door was severely damage plus pushed off its foundation. The family who was sleeping in their beds at the time of the explosion, miraculously survived. They were tossed here and there and suffered severe injuries but recovered fully. I was able to hear the explosion from inside my house. It rattled the windows and my wife thought that it was one of our cats may have knocked something over. I said to her, “No it wasn’t the cats, that was an explosion.” as I looked out the windows to see if any of my neighbors’ houses were suddenly missing. The family survived but never rebuilt the home.
A couple of things, one I feel for the reporter having to cover the loss of people who were friends of the family. That dad and his son fishing together is as wholesome as it gets. Two, no amount of ammo is going to do this. Ammunition has no high explosive in it. Even tank ammo doesn’t blow up like this, you can see it in all the articles from Ukraine where Russian tanks take hits to the ammo and just cook off until the HE in the shells pops. Three, is my totally uneducated opinion, natural gas filled the basement and blew up when something like the hot water heater kicked on and made the slightest spark. I say this based on the way the explosion goes straight up, as if the blast was funneled upwards from being underground. I’ve seen boat with gas powered inboards do something similar. If the lower compartments aren’t vented correctly, gas vapor can build up and blow the boat up when you start it.
