Are white kitchens still in style in 2024?

In 2024, white kitchen designs can still be in style, especially if they are made as personal as a secret family recipe. A mix of white and something else, such as earthy/pastel green, blues, and green and taupe, is expected to be popular due to their cozy ‘hygge’ feeling. While white kitchens are renowned for their clean and space-enhancing effect, they can give off a more clinical feel if styled incorrectly. To combat this, complement the color with natural woods, marble accents, and colorful accessories.

Modernizing an all-white kitchen can be achieved by employing a pop of color with unexpected cabinet knobs, a gleaming faucet, or textural touches like rattan woven pendant light or antique painting. Painting or installing one element of the kitchen in a saturated hue can also add a cool factor. For example, if you have an island, you can paint it a different color or add more color with your backsplash, counters, fridges, freezers, fabrics, and other soft finishes.

What does a cottage style home look like?

Cottages are asymmetrical, one-to-one-and-a-half-story homes with low-pitched gable roofs, prominent chimneys, and small covered porches. Originating in England, they served as homes for farmers on large plots of land and were owned by aristocrats. They became generic small houses, found outside metropolitan areas or big cities, and later became vacation homes for the middle and upper classes. They featured beautiful stone facades, gabled rooflines, brick pathways, thatched roofs, and oversized chimneys. Architects used elements of Arts and Crafts, Tudor, and cottage-style elements to create the renowned cottage revival look.

English-style cottages are a beautiful combination of antique and contemporary designs, incorporating the feel of an English countryside home. They often have thatched roofs, grow up the side of the house, and are built with stone or stucco walls. Today, some home builders incorporate elements of cottage-style homes into their larger builds, allowing them to fit into various architectural types and home designs.

  • Charming! Love the cottage look, but not all of these qualify as “Cottage” which means small and cozy, not large designer show case kitchens! Some had more of a “farmhouse” look to them! Grew up summers in my late grandmother’s house on Cape Cod built in 1776, that was small, cozy and charming and had a cottage look to it as well as the bedrooms up under the eaves! I have butcher block counters over white cabinets as well and a black wrought iron fish hook chandelier in my cozy galley kitchen which I love! That refrigerator with the colonial hinges and door handles looks great!! Thanks for sharing~

  • Although a modernist in every other room, this is the “feel” I have in my kitchen: sadly had to pay a fortune to get fridge sprayed by auto shop: Canadian fridge too tall also BigChill: still have vintage stove in yellow and AmericnStandar sink; hate WHITE, STAINBLESS, BLACK,/GREY, INDUSTRIAL LOOKL; should put the “kiutch”in kitchens
