📹 NEVER Break Down A Bid For A Customer – Here’s Why
Should you break down your bid for the customer when requested? What’s the difference between a bid and an estimate. I’ll show …
Many people still view any trade or construction type of work as lesser than a white collar job. They are basically wanting to pay for a day laborer, not an experienced contractor. A bid (with a description of materials being used if a large project) is a price to provide a desired outcome not an hourly labor rate.
I think just putting a total labor cost is sufficient. I do put a break down of materials. Working on cars is by far way more complex and way more to know than working on houses or putting up fences I have done both for many years. Its not even comparable at all besides they are both physical labor. The skill set needed to repair and remodel homes is pretty elementary in comparison imo. Imagine having to know the ins and outs of 10 different brands and 100s of models not to mention they change things yearly on the same model cars. This is why i mainly work on houses now for about the same amount of money its a easy decision. Way less stress and responsibility. One bolt could be skipped on a car part next thing you know someone wrecks and you have a law suit. Car mechanics are way under paid.
