  • This episode is the darkest one in Home Improvement. Mark’s struggles and dark phase are totally relatable because what he did in this episode is something that totally happens in real life. When you grow up in a loud household where your parents yell and fight all the time inevitably affects to children. Tim and Jill’s toxic and daily fights had affected all their kids but the most on Mark. He struggles with his self-image, he feels the least loved by his parents and is relentlessly bullied by his older brothers. Those things affect kid’s mental health. I truly believe that at least on subconscious level, Mark indeed has wished for his family’s death despite him denying it. Of course he’s not going to confess to his parents what he’s truly feeling and going through because he’s become emotionally cut off from his family.
