📹 Welcome to my zone 8b, Dothan AL Garden!
Welcome to my zone 8b garden in Dothan AL. Join me as I learn and evolve as a gardener in my residential, Southeast Alabama …
I just came across your website. It looks wonderful. We are not too far from you in Ashford. By the number of trees and the sound of the birds, my guess is that may be in the Garden District. Or maybe it’s just that you have created a garden that the birds love. That is what has happened in our garden over the last couple of years. They really love the bird feeder, the berries, and the new trellises. Thanks for the great content!
Just happened upon your garden! I can so relate to all you’ve shared as I too am in 8b Fairhope. I follow Linda as well as Jim Putnam Horttube, How’s it Growing, Gardening with Creekside & Garden Answer. I became interested throughout last year and try to do a little each day. I look forward to seeing more. You have a lovely garden and I encourage you to keep going😍
Hey Megan! I thot I recognized you from being a Linda Vater follower. This is Vickie Atkins (you prob don’t remember me). So glad to see your YouTube. We missed you when you decided to go off FB But completely understood. I’m still following Linda but now I would love to follow you also! Your garden has transformed since I last saw it. Good job girl! Im so happy I came across you!!!😘. Still have your cats? 😍
I love your backyard article. It made me feel at such peace as I watched it! I wish you were open so I could visit and just look around in person. But I believe you will eventually will have a nursery because I can see you are very talented! I live in Dothan behind the Kohls store on Hwy. 231 Thanks for letting us look!
I happened upon your article by a happy accident! I had been a Wisconsin gardener for 30 years and just moved to Fairhope, AL. Built a new house and the backyard is a complete blank slate with all grass, no trees, no bushes, etc. I hate how it looks, no personality or color or texture. This summer was brutal, hot & humid and thought I should wait until Fall to get busy. Any suggestions for north exposure plantings, shade in the morning but hot sun in late afternoon. Thanks for any suggestions you may offer.
Megan, I’m up in enterprise and new to the area. This will be my second year trying to grow a nice vegetable garden and was curious if you had any advice to keep pests out of my veggies so I have a better season than I did last year? I grew amazing plants in Texas but the bugs here destroyed my garden last year and I really want to avoid that this year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Your garden is absolutely gorgeous.
I like your beautiful circular patio and walkway. Thank you for sharing your lovely garden. Be proud of your talent! We received our first Japanese maple yesterday from Mr Maple in North Carolina and my husband planted it in a rather large pot he found at WM. I hope it will be happy there and will thrive.
Hey Megan! Lovely garden you have. And as with any true gardener, there are always “work in progress”. right?! lol We are neighbors, I’m about 60 miles east of you, in Georgia. I’ve been gardening… well most of my life, I’m 62 now, started out working in the garden with my grandpa and uncle and mom when I was, as we say here in the south “knee high to a grasshopper” lol. My mom’s family were growers for local florist back in the 60s and 70s, before big box stores and warehouses came about. I love getting my hands in the dirt, nothing soothes the soul like gardening (in my opinion). I’m looking forward to seeing more articles and maybe swapping ideas. I’ve been thinking about starting a website myself, but I’m kind of shy when it comes to camera. Take care!
