Leather is expensive and beautiful. Its an investment in your car that can last longer than the engine, but it has to be maintained …
Full-time detailer here: I’ve been using Meg’s gold class leather cleaner for years exclusively for leather and vinyl. For dirty seats, I spray it liberally and scrub with the softest drill brush and work it to a lather. I then wipe with a wet MF towel and the seats always come out like new. I’ve watched the price of the product increase needlessly over the past few years from $4.99 US to over $8 for no good reason other than corporate greed. I wish it was avail in 1 gallon size to make it a bit more economical.
I disagree, I have a truck 8 years old with some real top grain leather starting to show some wear. The Meguiar’s Gold Class dried the leather out and took the shine away. It may work good on new looking leather but for older leather it looked worse after I applied it than it did beforehand. I came to YouTube looking for a better product and laughed when this article suggested the product I had just tried and hated the result. I wanted something that would nourish and shine the leather. This faded the color, made it look dry and it was rough to the hands afterwards.
Great article. Question for you. I’ve also used Meguiar’s Gold Class Leather Rich Cleaner & Conditioner for years on my leather car seats. In our Kia Sorrento, after using it on the steering wheel center, the Kia badge on the center developed some cracking. Have you experienced this product degrading plastics at all? When I’m working with a wet MF cloth, I usually wipe down the whole interior. Any concerns using this on screens, badges, plastic, or capacitive touch surfaces? Thanks again.
I just watched this, this my first year running my business, it’s going amazing. The only thing though is my eczema has literally brought me to tears. I got it situated now, but am afraid the summer will kill my skin again and bring pain … any quick tips you got for me? Btw just subbed, can’t believe I’m not the only detailer who has to deal with this
Great explainer! Ive never used your products but Im definitely going to try them out. Im a laundry/drycleaner and plan to purchase your products for cleaning and conditioning leather shoes, jackets, bags, and hand bags (not suede). Will the cleaner and conditioner work well with these ? Waiting for your reply before i place my order. P.s. – does this work on suede as well ?
Hey guys, I absolutely love the leather quick detailer and use it on everything. But because of this, I go through it very quickly and was wondering when you guys are going to bring it back in the half gallon size or even offer it in a gallon jug, I would buy that in a heartbeat!! thank you guys appreciate it!
I have a question. I have been using your products for a while and am very satisfied with them. I recently bought a brand new SUV which has a leather interior. My seats are ventilated and heated (there are many small holes all over them). Do you have any special recommendations for maintaining this kind of seat? Thank you!
I just used the cleaner, conditioner and serum on the red leather interior in my 2008 Aston Martin Roadster. I was apprehensive at first because the leather was in great condition. I applied the cleaner first, followed by the conditioner and then applied the serum on all of the leather for UV protection and particularly on the dash which if you are familiar with AM’s, the sun can impact it. The entire process only took about 2.5 hours and the end result looks fantastic. I did not use a brush because the interior was pretty clean.
We have a Detail Garage in the Detroit area. I have taken 2 of their classes so far. We used the the leather products in class and I bought them for myself. Amazing products. I figured car care was just common sense. There is so much more to doing it properly and having the right products. Thanks Garret at Detroit Detail Garage.
You guys are awesome. I’ve always been big on Meguiars and while they do put out a good product, I’ve been wowed and impressed again and again by chemical guys products! I just brought back the life to my 2011 Genesis Sedan’s leather seats. Previous owner completely let the interior go so I am patching everything up with chemical guys!
