When airbags are deployed in a vehicle, they can cause damage or dislodge interior trim, dashboard components, door panels, or pillar covers. To fix an airbag deployed light, it is important to determine the trigger and identify any issues with the airbag wiring harness, connections, couplers, or power supply. Frayed, damaged, or loose wires can create openings for shorts, and intermittent warning lights point. Both frontal and side-impact air bags are designed to deploy in moderate to severe crashes and may deploy in even a minor crash.
The airbag indicator light is a simple yet helpful tool in any vehicle that alerts drivers and passengers if there is system trouble. If an airbag is deployed, hazard lights will automatically activate and flash faster to improve visibility. However, if the collision was small enough to cause little damage but strong enough and in the right place to set the airbags off, the light may indicate a problem with Supplemental Restraint (SRS) or airbag light.
To ensure the airbag light is actually the airbag light, check the dash lights on your Kia and ensure that it is actually the airbag light. Hazard warning lights turn on, interior lights turn on, high voltage is disabled, windows go to the vent position, and the vehicle applies the brakes to come to a stop. If the airbag light comes on shortly after a minor fender bender, it may indicate a problem with the car’s airbag system, which could mean the airbags may not deploy correctly in the event of an accident.
📹 5 reason why your airbag warning light is on
In today’s video we will see about 5 reason why your airbag warning light is on and how to solve this problem. There is always a …
How hard do you have to hit to deploy airbags?
Frontal air bags are designed for moderate to severe crashes, equivalent to hitting a solid barrier at 8 to 14 mph or higher. Buying a vehicle with advanced front air bags does not mean you can put your kids in the front seat again. Placing them in the front seat increases the risk. NHTSA recommends that children under 13 years old ride in the back seat using appropriate child restraint systems, such as rear-facing car seats, forward-facing car seats, booster seats, or adult seat belts. For more information on tweens, see the Seat Belts section.
Can you start a car with deployed airbags?
Driving a car after airbags deploy is legal, but it is not advisable. It is crucial to have your car checked for damage and airbags replaced by an authorized service technician before driving. Some people may try to save money by driving without replacing the airbags, but this could result in higher costs in the long run. Recovering damages from the at-fault driver may be possible under certain circumstances. A Boca Raton car accident lawyer can provide a free assessment. Repairing your vehicle, including all safety features, is the best way to ensure your safety and the safety of others in the car.
Is my car repairable if airbags deploy?
Airbag deployment does not necessarily mean your car is totaled, but it often indicates significant impact and potential structural damage that can be costly to repair. Our team will assess the extent of the damage and gather evidence to support your claim, ensuring all factors are considered in the valuation of your vehicle. We aim to maximize your compensation by meticulously analyzing repair estimates and advocating for your rights. Replacing deployed airbags is a significant expense, as each airbag must be replaced with new parts, ranging from $1, 000 to $1, 500.
If multiple airbags deploy, these costs multiply, potentially pushing repair expenses close to or beyond your vehicle’s actual cash value. Understanding these costs helps in navigating insurance claims and repair decisions post-accident.
At what speed do airbags deploy in a crash?
The front airbag, if unbelted, deploys when the crash impact equals hitting a rigid wall at 10-12 mph, while if belted, it deploys at around 16 mph. Airbags are crucial safety innovations, saving over 50, 000 lives in the last 30 years. However, they can sometimes be ineffective and cause injuries. The speed at which airbags deploy is a key factor in legal proceedings, and at Malman Law, we can assess the speed at which the crash occurred to determine the full scope of your claim.
Is the airbag light always on?
Upon starting the vehicle, the airbag indicator light will momentarily illuminate before dissipating. If the indicator persists, it is an indication of a fault in the airbag system. Such a fault could result in injury in the event of an accident if not addressed promptly.
Is airbag deployment loud?
Airbag deployment in vehicles can cause varying levels of noise, with driver side airbags generating a mean peak sound pressure level (SPL) of around 160 dB, passenger side airbags generating 168 dB, and dual airbags generating 170 dB. Side airbags, available as optional equipment in some vehicles, generate a mean peak SPL of 178 dB. The SPL generated by a motor vehicle accident is 140 dB, and the pain threshold from noise is around 140 dB. A single exposure to an SPL of 140 dB in a cordless telephone can cause permanent severe hearing loss.
To determine the extent of airbag deployments, patients involved in motor vehicle accidents will undergo standard evaluation by the Department of Emergency Medicine, including questions about acoustic trauma, prior otologic history, driving conditions, and vehicle specifications. Patients with demonstrated hearing loss will undergo an audiogram and otoacoustic emissions within 72 hours of presenting to the emergency room, while control subjects will be those involved in accidents without airbags.
What happens when airbags deploy?
Airbags deploy when an electronic signal is sent to the airbag system, inflating with non-hazardous gas. While instant inflation saves time and can save lives, it can cause injury. Side airbags deploy quicker than frontal airbags due to less distance between the head and the side of the car. Front airbags deploy slower but are the primary defense system. People under 13 should sit in the back. Replacing airbags is expensive, with an average cost of $1, 000 to $6, 000. While airbag deployment doesn’t necessarily mean a total loss, it adds to the cost of repairing a car.
Will an airbag deploy with light on?
The airbag warning light on a car indicates a problem with the airbag system, potentially preventing the deployment of airbags in a crash. The exact cause requires retrieving the error code from the car’s computer. Although crash sensors are typically designed to last a vehicle’s life, failures can trigger the light. For instance, a sensor might need to be replaced or reset after a collision that isn’t severe enough to deploy the airbags. An electrical problem, like a loose wire, can also trigger the light.
Seatbelt pretensioners, which tighten seatbelts in an accident, can also trigger the light if they fail or break. Without pre-tensioners, the airbags could be flung forward in a crash, posing a significant risk.
How to tell if airbags have been deployed?
The airbag cover is a key indicator of if an airbag has been deployed before. It splits apart to support the driver or passenger’s head before an accident, and a repaired cover may show signs of tampering. A newly-repaired airbag cover may appear newer than the rest of the vehicle’s interior. If the original airbag is deployed, the dashboard may have been replaced during the repair process. The airbag’s placement near the dashboard increases the risk of the airbag splitting the dashboard open due to deployment pressure. The airbag indicator light is a simple yet helpful tool in detecting airbag deployment.

Airbag light on or airbag light flashing? This video will show you how to diagnose and fix a flashing airbag light. The flashing …
Thanks for the tutorial. After checking I found out my car’s battery was going bad. I replaced it at Walmart for free today because the battery was still under warranty. Since Walmart no longer prorates their batteries, I didn’t have to pay for the new battery. Would never have thought of this check if not for your article. Thanks much!!
Purchased a used 2010 Hyundai, air bag light stays on never flashed owner said it was a fuse replaced the fuse nothing changed. Does it need coads reset also the car battery was dead and jumpstarted but the battery is fully charged and still the light won’t go off the same for the radio and cruise control, is this because the codes need to be reset.
Unless you want your airbag disabled due to the DO NOT DRIVE recall warning on Takata airbags, my 08 had passenger side replaced a few years ago, but the dealer keeps saying they don’t have the parts for drivers side ?, had this truck since new, that’s 16 years, half done . I’ll leave the light on, thank-you .
The best car purchasing choice I ever made was buying a truck that is the same make, model, and year of truck as ChrisFix. My son let me know the airbag light was blinking, this article is the first hit on Google, turned out to be code 46, popped the connector out, wouldn’t you know the pins had corrosion, a little WD-40 and a metal nail file cleaned them up, plug it back in, the light is off. Simple 2 minute fix. Thanks so much!!
+Tran Ly for some reason I cannot reply to your question so I hope you see this. The connector might be corroded or coming loose for the side curtan airbags (just like the connector under my seats). The connector is behind the C pillar interior trim (rearmost roof pillar, next to rear window) on a 4 door car. The connector should be behind the side bolster of the rear seat on a 2 door car. 2 wire connector, and SRS wiring has yellow everywhere.Be careful when working with the airbag system and make sure you remove the negative terminal of the battery and wait at least 10min. My guess is that if you unplug and reconnect the wire harness connector you can fix the problem.
Oh my goodness, I can’t thank you enough for this! I did it! I fixed it! The code was 4-7, passenger side. Found the connector easily, pulled it out, WD40’d it (took a minute to also lube the hinges on the kitchen door to the garage), reconnected it and started the truck–and it’s fixed! Thank you, thank you. My go-to auto repair shop had told me on the phone, “Ohhh, we don’t fix those. You’ll have to go to the dealer.” No, no, no. All fixed now. Smiley face! (Demographic: I am a female, retired, over age 60.)
Fantastic!! I have a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge and the airbag light started flashing about six months ago but quit after a few days. Yesterday it started flashing again and you would not believe some of the prices I was given as a guesstimate. I did what you said and the code was 47, which you also said was the passenger seat connector. I unplugged it and sprayed it and the light went off and stayed off. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your knowledge with everyone. You have a dedicated follower from this point forward. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!
Well Chris we tried out exactly what the article showed us – my husband sprayed the WD 40 into the connection and he also checked the connections and the wiring harness all look to be correct, however the service air bag light is still activated on our dashboard. any suggestions? Thanks Dolores & Dave 2004 Chevy Avalanche
Chris, Thanks very much. Yesterday, I called Ford for an appointment for the air-bag fault that has been going on for a number of years. So I watched your article and then went out to the 2000 Ranger and read the code as 27, replace the light bulb. That’s an easy fix and saved me the hassle of appointment, waiting, probably $200 and time wasted. This was awesome. Thanks again. Mark
Hi Chrisfix, I have a 2011 chevy suburban and the air bag light came on like 6 months ago. It flashed in the beginning but I didn’t know it’s telling me the code. Now it just stays all the time. I went to the mechanic and he couldn’t find any code. It says No Connection when he connects the computer to the car. What do you think the problem is and the car has never been in any accident? Thanks!
Hey Chris, Thanks for another great article. I had this exact problem and your article was the cure. It was such an easy fix I could not believe it. You saved me $$$ and more importantly time (losing my car for a day at the repair shop). Besides, I’m sure the repair shop would have done exactly the same thing, or actually worse; replaced the whole wiring harness or the belt pre-tensioner sensor and charged me $250 in parts (+labor). I’m sure there are many easy fixes like this that most people can do themselves at home (with a can of WD40). Thank you again Richard
I have a 2016 dodge grand caravan with this light on… i know its previously had an accident where airbag deployed. I dont mind not having a funtional airbag, i hate them, but i dont want it to explode in my face. Is it possible previous owner just never put a new airbag in? Or is it more likely to be related to the seats… Is there i place i can find all the codes and what they mean?
Hey I hope you’re still answering questions cause I have one! Haha. I was making room for a switch pannel down there where you have the two switches by your airbag on/off, where the ashtray used to be. I needed more room so I also yanked that airbag on/off switch off and disconnected the little grey clip that connects that whole module. It is now giving me code 25, what can I do to “delete” that?
Hello ChrisFix! Thank you for making these articles! Quick question, I just finished repairing a sliced wire just above an airbag sensor located in the front like you mentioned. I detached the battery and let it sit and have now spliced the wire and taped everything up. the question I have is I am trying to make sure there is not something special I should be doing, a system test or something, before hooking the battery back up or do I just hook up the negative cable again and turn it on as usual? any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks again!
hello chris, this was very helpful thanks. my code is flashing 15. i was wondering if you knew how i could fix it thanks. its on my 98 ford ranger. Also do you have any ideas about the horn and cruise control switches. my horn doesnt work when i press in the middle of my airbag but goes off when i press the off button for cruise control. and the speed control light on dash keeps blinking. Thanks a bunch.
My parents had the same problem on a different vehicle. The deal wanted to charge over $400 prepay to replace the seat belt pre tensioner with no guarantees. We was gonna trade in the vehicle for a new one, but I used your method to fix it. Do I thank you for saving us money for not buy a new car? Or do I blame you because the car is fixed and we can’t enjoy driving a new car? Thank you so very much ❤
My Citroen C3 MK1 1.1 Lx has a. Airbag issue…..when the airbag is on my battery drains to empty basically the car won’t start and an airbag light constant stays on it doesn’t give a code but when I turn my airbag system off the light again stays on but the car starts and runs fine, what should I do?? Cause I’m a newly passed full license driver and I would think that the airbag is something that I’ll need.
Hello… I had to go to my dealership to see why my airbag light was on and I was told I needed an “Airbag instrument panel module”. Well my paper says”SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED SCANNED AND FOUND DTC B0020. TRACED CIRCUIT. AND FOUND AIRBAG MODULE INTERNAL TO INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED. NECESSARY TO REPLACE AND REPROGRAM NEW MODULE.” I cannot afford the $287.50 Labor and $750.99 Parts. Is there something else I could do trying to avoid all this money? It’s for a 2011 chevy tahoe.
I stopped today and confirmed that a flashing airbag light cannot be scanned through the OBD port at Advance Auto to determine the issue. Came home and found this article had a 47 code on my 2000 Ford Taurus—probably the same V6 engine as this Mazda truck. I tried using WD40 as recommended in the article and it worked like a charm! Thank you.
Hi Chris! I really hope you can help me out. I have a 1995 single cab Ford ranger. I just had a baby and I need to put a car seat in the passenger seat but I have an airbag there and airbags are deadly to children. I’ve searched the Internet high and low and can’t figure out how to turn the airbag off.. Or just disconnect it! Everything I find says I should have a on/off switch but I don’t have one unless it’s hidden somewhere… If I find this sensor under the passenger seat and leave it unplugged will that disable the airbag? I really don’t know a single thing about cars/trucks but I need to figure this out so I can get my baby to his doctors appointments safely! –thanks in advance! –Crystal.
Excellent. Thank you my friend. I have a 2003 Explorer and the plug was white and located under the driver’s seat and closer to the center console than the door. I also un-clipped the yellow plug, sprayed it with WD40 also, and snapped it back on. Warning light immediately went off after starting the car. Saved a trip to the $hop.
Excellent production and information, and I’ll try it on my 2002 Ranger when it stops raining. I might suggest a little change in the order of the article. I would mention disconnecting the battery right after you’ve determined the blinking code and turned off the engine. (There may be some impulsive people like me who are ready to dive into the “46” repair as soon you moved on to speaking about other codes.) Good point also about leaving the battery disconnected for 10 minutes before working on that connector. Thanks. I’ll let you know what happens.
On my 1994 F150.. actually both 94’s that I have, the clock spring in the steering wheel is broke. Darn light as been flashing for probably the past 15 years in my green/white truck. Not a real difficult fix just have never done it… may be an upcoming article on my website in the near future perhaps. Love your vids man!!
Thank you so much for this. I brought my escape to ford. They said it was the brain of the system that needed to be replaced for $1300!!! Well I didn’t have that so we let it slide until registration time… After finding your article I found it was the passenger not the driver so I went out to inspect and low and behold a ton of stuff under the seat. I just had to remove the crap under it and the light went out! You saved me $1300!!!
Oh my god my grandma’s car broke down because of that. We left it at a dollar general store and then we left. We came back to my house, I can’t actually do this!! Beacause we can’t turn the car back on. Every time we put the key in the car it makes a sound like, brrrrr! We are getting a toe truck to bring the car to Byram. We are currently in Brandon. But this helped, it just didn’t work. It’s a white car, I am so sad! That was my favorite car 😣😖
I just watched the article couple of times. The flashing code was 47 on my 2001 Ford ranger. . Went under the passenger seat, pulled out the connection and squirted WD40. The warning light went off for good. The Auto Zone guys would not want to even do the diagnostics as it was “safety issue”and directed me to go to the dealer. Thanks Chris.
hey, i have 2011 impala front impact, only driver bag deployed, i replaced bag, and seatbelt, and had module reprogram but still have a srs light on,, scanner read B0013 RF/PASSENGER FRONTAL DEPLOYMENT LOOP (STAGE 2 ) RESISTANCE OPEN how can i fix this, and passenger bag was never deployed, please need help
I have a 2006 ford van. Two problems, i removed passenger seat for more room, airbag light is now on as you showed circuit now interupted. Could i make a make jumper to temporairily fix this until i reinatall seat? Second before this the seatbelt warning chime and light was staying on even after seatbelt was on. Is the belt tongue and socket faulty? Thanks
Have a 2002 Honda Civic CNG and the SRS light stays on. Would like to reset it, but how? In addition, my car dies when at a stop. I’ve bought a new battery, alternator, new alternator belt and power steering belt. I do have a new catalytic converter code which states bank one, so the one connecting to the manifold. I recently ordered a idle valve which I’ll be putting on today. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR TIPS CHRIS?
I have a 2007 Saturn Sky. The PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF light stays on and the service airbag symbol stays on, it doesn’t flash when I turn on the ignition and the menu displays SERVICE AIR BAG. This happened all of a sudden and there were no accidents. I also have a problem with the turn signal switch not cancelling. Do you have repair articles or suggestions for this? Thanks
Mine flashes when i put it in diagnostic mode, 2 quick flashes, pause, 2 quick flashes, pause, 1 long flash, repeat. It doesn’t stay on, it loops. Is that code 22? I don’t understand how this works; I was originally looking at the service manual for my vehicle and looking for the flash pattern there, but it isn’t listed. And there is no mention of these numeric codes corresponding to number of flashes.
Thanks Chris.. our avalanche passenger air bag is showing service. Our mechanic said it read a pinched wire. I will have my husband check this article out and see if it will fix our situation. Very helpful thanks for posting. The Airbag scan code B0092 problem in PPS Scan PPS, found GM TSB states problem possible pinched wire under passenger seat
Hey Chris, I know at this point you probably get thousands of comments every day. I’m still hoping for your help though! I crashed my 1994 Camaro the other day airbags deployed and everything. I want to try to fix it, if I can’t it is already a total loss so I’ve got nothing to lose. As far as airbags go, not even specifically for my car. What do I need to do to the car, basically to make it forget it was crashed? Sensors, switches, computers? Anything you know will be helpful!
Hey Chris. Your my go to guy so here we go. I have airbag light issues so here we go. First it stayed on and flashed and I read the flashing codes and changed the bulb in the console. It worked for two weeks but then the light just stayed on on the dash. Now I have no lights anyplace for airbags. I looked for connection under both seats and saw no yellow plug or anything for that matter. What do I do? Please please please help me out.
Hey ChrisFix. I have a 2002 Buick Century with 120K. We’ve had an issue since the car was new where the airbag light comes on for 10 seconds and turns off. It used to happen only once or twice a year, but in its old age is happening almost daily, more so when is cold. The dealer never could find a code. I bought a obd2 adapter and it’s not finding any codes either. Any recommendations? The airbag light will come on several times when I’m driving home from work, but never stays on for more than 10 seconds.
Hello Chris I have a problem with my airbag and as what watch your article in this episode. Went I checked my airbag (Ford Focus LX 2000) It’s was a flashing 4 times and paused then 4times again and until it’s stayed to light on the airbag. What do you mean by that flashing 4x and paused the flashing again 4x????? Is there a problem with my airbag? What part of the code? Please help me. I bought my car this year and it’s already have a airbag light on went I bought this car. I wish you can guide me what to do. I think the code 44.
Hey Chris love your articles, when I asks questions on these sites they always go unanswered, hopefully you see this one & answer it, I have a air bag light constantly on, how can I reset it? And my front seats & passenger seat have no power to them and all the fuses & relay are good on a 2000 cadillac eldorado, or and the trunk pull down doesn’t work could it be on the same powerline with the seats? Please help😱
I bought an 06 crown vic with the SRS light on. The instrument display was deliberately loosened by the ass hat that sold it to me. Had I realized this before hand I probably would have walked away. There are hundreds of these cars for sale. Should have just bought that Buick instead. LOL. Anyway I did not know the blinking was code. I just thought it was doing that to be like: notice me i am not feeling well. Thanks man. Will count that out soon. I just hope they did not cut the sensors for it. It was an ex cop car so maybe idk. Or maybe one of the fat ass cops messed it up by moving the seat too much. Wouldn’t surprise me at all. It may have been in an accident that did not set the airbags off, or it could be the clock spring in the horn or the passenger airbag sensor may be disconnected. But now I know what to look for so I can narrow it down. Thanks Chris great vid as always u da man!
Hi, Im driving an 03 Taurus. I’m getting code 21 or Safing sensor mounting properly. Seeming to find info on improper grounding. I tried to find its location, suggesting left side kick panel or steering column?? Anyway, where is it and do I just unplug and clean it as with this one you’re showing? Thanks for your time
Your YouTube article works i was able to determine the air bag blinking light error code. Based on the blinks with a pause in between its a 5-1. Another site says that airbag diagnostic monitor’s fuse is blown. Can this be repaired by just replacing the fuses in the monitor? This is an older car — its a 92 ford Taurus. What should I know before I take it back to pep boys. They just repaired my car and this problem did not exist prior to them working on the car. If it had I would have asked them to repair it cause I know nothing about cars. I noticed the issue when I picked the car up before I left their lot. They had no mechanics on hand to look at it so they gave me an appointment for Monday (tomorrow). Show less
Hi Chris i need help fixing my airbag light for my Vauxhall Vectra 2.5 V6 1999. The airbag light remains on when you start the car. i have watched your article on how to fix the problem but i found no success. I have disconnected the battery and looked underneath the driver and passenger seats for any loose connections however the connectors are quite strong and clicked in place and aren’t loose at all. There is a yellow wire thats isnt connected to anything and is just hanging there- (Im sure this needs to be connected to something). And also there is a green connector which is already connected. im not sure on what to do. can you help me? Thank you Much Appreciated!
Hi Chris my Srs lighth flashes 3 6, what does that mean please. I’ve only had this truck for about 8 months and the Srs light keeps going on about every 2 to 3 months, I’ve been making the car dealer pay for it but I’m worried that it’s gonna keep happening after the car dealer is no longer liable for for the troubles I don’t know what to do! Help?
hii chris, can i ask you my both safety belt signal and srs airbag signal turned on.. it happened after i replaced my battery on BMW116i 2005 yr. i use torque pro and scanxl together with eml327 obd2 adapter, and they can’t find any fault code on it.. that means what ? because i know a bmw has many module, which each will activate each individual error code of any issue or damage occured.. so, what module did the torque pro and scanxl scanned via obd2 ? how come they said no error which the srs and seatbelt indicator keep staying on ? i need to reset the srs airbag and seat belt code urgently, because i need to bring it to yearly check.. otherwise i will have to spend big bucks for get it off. thanks andrew
i was able to take a dash light bulb apart and its the same bulb for the passager air bag light i had a friend soider the new light and it works great so you can also use a dash light bulb love this truck now every thing works this did not work it blew when heater was turn on i was able to get a used light out of the local wreaker’s out of a full size ford
Hello chrisfix! Yes I have the light on on my 11 Tacoma. But it’s not the cables underneath the seat. There was this time when the steering wheel made clicking noises when I turned; until it stopped. There was resistance towards the turning of the steering wheel then out of the blue it stopped. Light still comes up BUT the horn stopped working. Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Mine does not give a code. It just flashes flashes there is no pause. I had a takata airbag recall and they replaced my airbags right after that the light started flashing. I am 67 and disabled I do not have the money to take it to a mechanic I have tried all of these techniques to reset it and it still flashes and it does not flash and then go off like this one. The mechanics all see me coming everytime I take my car in for repair I always wind up leaving with a 500 dollar repair. some of what they tell me I know isn’t true. Now my airbag light on the dash is flashing. It is a nissan versa Sl I asked Nissan North America if they could help and of course not they told me take it in to a Nissan dealership and let them diagnose it that costs 145 dollars. I just replaced the transmission too I noticed everyone had a complaint about the CRT’s in Nissans they up the warranty to 60/120 but that didn’t help me. I cannot afford a car payment so I am stuck like chuck. And now my TPS light is on and my airbag little man is flashing. I just don’t know what I am gonna do. I tried one of the tricks for the airbag light it went off I was so excited I put my car in reverse to back out it came back on flashing again. Does anyone know why it would go off and when I put my car in reverse and start backing out it started flashing again.?? Please comment I would greatly appreciate it. thanks
Chris I watched your article on the air bag light coming on however my 98 dodge ram isn’t giving me any codes. The air bag light and annoying tone comes on intermediately every 30 seconds or so. I cleaned out the connections and checked the wiring for damage and none found. The mechanic said it’s difficult to know what’s wrong without a code reading. What do you suggest Thx
I have a 2006 ford fusion that had a passenger side airbag inflator recall. I took it to the dealer to get the part replaced. Now the airbag light stays on constant also now my heater doesn’t work (seems convenient since it worked fine and now it’s getting cold where I live) and the dealer says it’s not related and want to charge me $120 each just for diagnosis.on each issue . Is this a coincidence or could they have messed something up
i switched my airbag on my 2003 dodge stratus for a 2005 stratus airbag but was missing a connection (not the grey and black one) so i put original back but noticed i somewhat broke the grey connector, when i turn car on it shows it for 3-5 seconds then dissapears do i need to change the clockspring? idk lost
Awesome, thanks. This fixed my problem for drivers side. However the fix was immediate as others seemed t have indicated, my light was still blinking after cleanup, but when I checked an hour later, the airbag light was no longer flashing! Also for information, this has been a longer journey for me. This started when I was getting am audible chime in pattern of 5 chimes, once per second, then 5 seconds of silence, and that pattern repeated 5 times. Pretty annoying yeah?! It turns out that chime was an indicator that my airbag light was burned out. After I replaced the airbag light bulb, it then started flashing the 4-6 code. Finally all fixed!
Hi Chris, thank you for this article. Hopefully quick question: I have a 2005 Ford Focus on which I had to replace the passenger-side seat belt buckle. The generic replacement had a wire for the seat belt sensor, but there was another cord with three wires in it that went to a small box where the buckle screws into the seat. I cut the wire for this but then the airbag light is now on. I reconnected the wires, but the light is still on. Any ideas? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
what about the “slip” indicator light how do you fix this in a 2005 Nissan 350z? I got my left rear tire changed and when I left the light kept coming on and not allowing me to go pass 45mph I read up in a few comments that is I turn off my “VDC” button it stops it, this worked but I’m sure it did not fix the actual problem heading back to the shop on Sunday would definitely like insight
Wow, you are great! Chris, I have a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. low miles, I don’t drive often, so after a week and a half setting, I started it up and that light started flashing. And makes a dinging sound. Also, it was loosing power and died. Luckily, I was at the store and someone boosted me off. I made it home. But could tell the power was not right. I’m going to check the things you showed, but if you have any other pointers I would appreciate it. Tks
Hi! I have a VW Polo 1.2 tsi that has a flashing airbag light… I took my car for its 25000km service and when i picked it up the lady said I need to make another booking so they can reset/fix/check the airbag light that is constantly on. I need to get my roadworthy certificate sorted so the car can be officially transferred onto my name and I dont really have time to take it in to VW and more importantly, I cant be without a car for even an hour during the week. Is there any quick fix/temporary fix I can do myself just so I can get the roadworthy certificate? PS. I dont have these fancy scanner things iv seen in other articles where they connect a pc to the car… Any help will be SO APPRECIATED! Thanks
