James Franco is not heterosexual and anyone with common sense would know this. This guy tries very hard to be “edgy” and “artistic” but he would just come out of the closet he can make such a difference for the gay community. It isn’t just a matter of Franco making movies about male homosexuality it is about his strong interest in it. I think James Franco is testing the waters, he needs to stop playing silly games and just come out of the closet.
You know nothing about james franco, his state of mind or his intentions. furthermore you know nothing at all about good film. Milk, Howl and this film are all exceptional films with different and interesting subject matter about being gay. Lastly, do not presume to speak for gay people as a whole, though edgy games about sexuality isn’t your definition of being gay, it certainly is someone else’s.
Yes, James Franco is obviously gay but since he’s a big A list male star he doesn’t want to come out because he fears it would hurt his cash flow. James Franco is fooling nobody and his show boating is a bit disappointing to be honest. James can do so much good for the gay community if he would just come out. Jodie Foster came out and so did Victor Garber recently and they were praised. It would be wonderful if James came out as a gay man but I doubt he is going to do it.
So many good artists in this movie.. but you picked the worst title EVER for a movie.. and because of that INCREDIBLY BAD DECISION.. few people will see this movie because of the title. I am sure whoever made that decision thought it was cool and hip.. But its not. Its lame as hell and will not attract the cool crowd like you thought it would.
Give me a break Franco made this film to attract attention to himself but he comes across as hypocritical and actually homophobic. Being gay is not about being edgy and trying to play silly games about ones sexuality. If Franco wants to stay in the closet more power to him but his tacky gay films illustrates he is trying too hard to blur the lines.
it’s unfair to call him out for being in the closet, though, dont you think? let’s say he IS gay, for the sake of argument. whether his reasons for staying in the closet are what you speculated or something else, everybody was in the closet once and everybody had their reasons. every single one of those reasons was valid. they were real as everliving fuck to the individual & they were probably overwhelmingly terrifying. coming out is 100% personal choice, only when 100% comfortable and ready.
James Franco played as gay in movies before! Many hollywood actors played gays before, Tom Hanks, Sean Penn, Robin Williams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Matt Damon… and guess what, THEY ARE ALL NOT GAYS!!! They’re just very open minded human beings who are not making a big deal out of sexuality. Get over it people.
I respect gay men like Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, and Neil Patrick Harris a lot more than closet cases like James Franco. Those guys didn’t make silly art projects about homosexuality and they are very involved with advancing the gay rights movement. And in terms of attraction I would rather be with Zachary, Matt or Neil over James Franco any day. I don’t like closet cases.
