Tracy, if I took the space to tell you what I love, it would be paragraphs and paragraphs and you would be aggravated at reading. So, I will try to keep it short! Lol. First, it is one of my biggest regrets that I will never see England-put it off until time and health ran out. Secondly, I know you are truthful, but it is so hard to believe that you have been married for 33 years; you barely look 33. And, in that lovely dress, you look like a goddess! Tracey. Your home is my absolute favorite. I so enjoy you and Bertie. I believe you when you say your home is this way in your day to day living. Mine to stays neat and tidy because we all put things back in their space and do not drop things all over the house to cause clutter and messiness. We are lucky to have the brain that allows us to be this way. I do love how comfy and casual your home is throughout the areas. We to love the outdoors here in Hot Springs, Arkansas USA. We have a covered deck and lots of trees. We often have a breeze that helps in the hot days of summer here. We can sit outside mostly year round. July is usually our hottest month. We are right near 100 degrees in the late afternoon but it’s been cloudy and that helps. We live on the 3rd hole of a golf course and there are two large ponds. This makes for a breathtaking view. I so admire how hard you work in making your home and ground’s beautiful. I prefer the place you’ve moved to over the castle. Although, from your photo it did look lovely. I would love to see footage of the remodel of your property. Oh my how I do love your rubbish collection. I have so many things in my basement that I keep saying I’ll go through and sort out. Hi Tracy. I’m a new subscriber and have spent the last couple of weeks binge perusal most of your articles. Still have a few in the queue before I am caught up. Meanwhile, I have accumulated several questions I hope you won’t mind answering. 1. I see you use many faux candles in decorating the areas of your rooms. My question is how do you keep track of which remotes operate which candles and where do you hide them in your styling? If they are all the same brand and use the same remote, then my question is do you have multiple remotes for each room or just use one to carry from room to room when in use? I have several brands of candles in my home and it makes me crazy trying to keep them all sorted. 2. Do you protect your outdoor furniture, fabrics and wall hangings during windy rain storms? Do you cover the furniture and remove the mirrors and breakables until the storm passes to keep them from blowing over? If weather was an issue,, what would you do diffently,? I have a covered patio in the back of my house and have to remove planters and wall hangings when the frequent high winds pick up or hear the items thrashing against the walls and being blown around. The cushions get soaked in the random rains but dry out quickly enough in the high desert heat of New Mexico. Probably not the case in the dampness of UK weather. 3. Regarding your faux stone treatment of the outdoor plastic pots, how does it hold up in the weather and temp fluctuations? Here in New Mexico, plastic pots don’t last very long in our intense UV sunlight and heat before they start crumbling.

I love the idea of not having top cabinets in the kitchen. That’s how mine’s is being designed. Not because I’m short. I just think it’s a waste of precious space. The spaces are all beautiful!! A lot of homes looks staged and sterile. Yours looks peaceful and lived in. I like how you seem to know about every piece of furniture or items in your home. Those ash wood tree shelvings in the bathrooms are by far my favorite. That is a genius idea. Did you seal them? You are amazing!!

What a stupendous job you have done. I have learnt to embrace my tiny house and ive made use of a lot of walls,its tiny but cosy and as I’m knocking on it makes for easier cleaning. I got mine for free on FB market place I have mine under cover but I would like to age them a bit as they are shiny and bright and I don’t like that so I’m now thinking if I leave them out for a winter to weather then give them a brush off and them pop them back but didn’t want to do that before checking how they manage exposed so thank you for that
I moved into a cóttage/duplex and am lucky enough to have a small front covered patio and a larger back patio. I love it. The furniture, and linens stay clean. I can sit out almost anytime. I just have to remember the pots don’t get any rain so need to keep up with the watering. I live in Victoria, BC, Canada.
You have great vision. I struggle with finding my style “home decor wise”. I live in the Mediterranean and my villa is a bit of a mish mash to be honest. The best part is my covered terrace, style wise. I love the aesthetic of your property but I love colour so I struggle to furnish in soft beiges, grey and cream. You said you ended up is Sussex via Texas snd the Deep South. Where in the Deep South? I’m in Louisiana, right outside New Orleans and just curious where you lived. Your property is absolutely gorgeous!! Love the house! I have 11.5 acres with woods and fields. I have lots of flower gardens as well. I love your “dumping area” 😂 and I’d enjoy rummaging around there and finding something to do something nifty with. It cracked me up when you said you based the kitchen around that one piece cause I did the same thing. I had a huge,old butcher block and when me and my man were house hunting few yrs ago, I looked for a kitchen that my block would fit in lol! If it didn’t fit or have potential to fit then the whole house was a no go 😂. I also feel like I go all over my property and “shop” 😊. Great article!

always one of my favorites, your style and yourself….qstn….do you miss not having a head board and foot board for your bed?? i assume your mattress is just on a steel frame on wheels or platform ? new tendency is to not use a box spring and use only a platform frame. I am thinking I would miss the head and foot board but one would need a focal point as you did with the wall.

Wow! Absolutely stunning Tracey 🥰 It’s amazing what you can do with an ugly duckling! We also had the same response from our removal men when we moved from our sprawling Northumbrian old vicarage to our French home here in the Dordogne as we hadn’t done any of the building work and extensions, the look on the removal guys faces was a hoot as like you we have a lot of possessions 🤪 I reassured them we had a massive storage unit 😅 Look forward to seeing what you do with some of the pieces in your shed. 😜
Of course I’m obsessed with every room, every space, every piece.. oh but what i would give for a laundry room like this😮 Such an awesome space! Just love all the details and how its all laid out! Of course I’m in love with every piece of furniture & decor❤ And that bathroom/powder room is amazing.. the sink sand just all the pieces! That light fixture is gorgeous, so unique! You’re just so crafty! Oohhh wow that first bedroom😮 and love the headboard! That bathroom is beautiful, the tub is something special, i just love everything about these rooms! And the dressing room itself is quite amazing! Lol I love all Bertie’s beds as well😄 Ooh how nice it would be to have separate bathrooms! We’re in the process of moving from one state to another, babu but the home we were living in we did have separate nice size walk in closets, which i loved! I also love all your doors, room doors, closet doors.. all are just beautiful❤ All the beams are just stunning! How cool are the ash tree shelves in that bedroom closet! Even all the sinks & cabinets are amazing! Personally i haven’t used the large pompous grass to decorate in quite a few years, but i do have a couple of smaller dried flower arrangements that has very small pieces of it in them. I’m obsessed with old wood & love anything large or small manage from it.. like i said i love all the beams throughout your home, but those in the open space over the last bedroom are something special..wow! I love the outdoor kitchen, my husband would be obsessed for sure, he loves grilling & cooking outdoors😊 I loved the cottage makeover articles.
Hey Tori, this is my style, so…,, I love it…lol. I’m in the market for a white couch currently, And everyone tells me not to also. I’m torn between washable covers and performance fabric. I just bought a huge new rug during prime day, I got the olive and charcoal. You needed that one though to mix your gray tones. It brings it all together perfectly! I wish I had the luck at vintage and resale shops that you seem to have where you live though, I love your vintage pieces. I’m paying a premium on Etsy for most of my vintage stuff. I cannot wait for fall either!
Just a bit confused. I’m from the U.K. and we would call your ‘hutch’ a ‘dresser’ . They are usually placed in a kitchen or a dining room and the display would depend on the room, so kitchen utensils such as a cutting board and so on would be placed on a kitchen dresser and a dining room dresser would have items such as crockery. Is yours in your kitchen or dining room?
I’m only 6 minutes in, so I haven’t seen the decor yet, (which I’m sure I will LOVE) but when you’re cleaning, you are supposed to wipe up all the dry bits/debris, cup your hand next to the table/counter, then wipe up all the dry bits/debris (with a dry towel or cloth) into your hand and THEN spray and wipe. That’s how I’ve always done it, and how my mom taught me.
Hi Tori, this is the first time I watch your website. You have a beautiful home. I enjoy perusal the transformation. It looks as if was designed by a top designer. I want to share something with you. For God so Loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son for whoever believeth in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. For Jesus came to Save the world and not to condemn it. We were all destitute from the Glory of God. We were doomed to burn in hell forever after the fall of Adam and Eve. But God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die on the Cross at Calvary. He shed His Precious Blood to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. All we have to do is repent of all our sins. Accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Acknowledge that He is the Son of God. Acknowledge that He died and was buried. On the 3rd day He Rose again and is Seated at the Right Hand of the Father. Jesus will Come to Rapture His Church (everyone who has accepted Him as our Lord and Savior) Salvation is a heartbeat away. Tomorrow is not promised. The time is now while we have breath and are alive. There are only 2 places a person can go after we die. Heaven or hell. The choice is ours. He’ll is a real place. No one wants to go there. It was designed for the False Prophet, the Anti-Christ and Satan. Hell is fire that burns with brimstone. Worse than a volcano. Time is running out. Please don’t wait.
Love how you have decorated everything. As for the white couch- well… I can’t stand them for real life, even with performance material, I have found them impractical for families, pets and everyday life, I was a slave to cleaning mine weekly and that is not me though I know others are ok with the frequent maintenance. We are switching to a darker color, I am leaning to leather, my husband to a dark grey or brown upholstery, we will see. White is a beautiful aesthetic but for some of us, it’s just not practical.
My comment from yesterday is missing. My suggestion is to take a photo of the hutch when it’s set up how you like it, (for every season) then you can always reference the photo when you need to do it again. Also, you can wash the cushion covers, but leave them out to dry. Mine shrank in the dryer, and it was HARD to get the cushions back in. Everything looks so nice!
I don’t have the same couch as you, but I definitely put my couch cushion covers in the wash machine. I make sure they are zipped closed and I put them in the dryer on low. They come out beautifully and I’ve never had any issues with them. Maybe start with just one cover, or put them on a delicate setting?
I really enjoyed this article your home looks lovely…and I think the bookshelves would look great on either sides of the fireplace..if they’re tall enough I would put a long shelf to go across the top of one bookshelf to the other…it will make it look like a built in….good luck with all your endeavors…have a blessed day💗💗💗
