  • Our daughter is moving into a new build and the kitchen design is horrendous- totally unworkable. One of the 900mm floor cabinets that fit in the corner with a 300mm door. Can’t get anything in it, has a 300mm floor cabinet next to it – useless. Why they didn’t just put in a proper corner cabinet with two door that open so you can get in the whole space ( which is considerable) beats me. We put them in out kitchen design as carousels don’t hold a lot and neither do the magic baskets. They have also left a 900mm space between the door and the full height fridge/ freezer unit and the full height double oven unit. When we skied why the answer was turning space for a wheel chair! As you have an open plan kitchen diner this is utter nonsense – just comes down to cost. The wall cabinets are just as bad, just wish we could rip them out and start again. To make matters worse they are dark grey and this is an upgrade. Regarding drawers Kirsty Allsop also says put in pan drawers in bottom cabinets as it makes things so much more accessible.

  • I was perusal and wondering “Why is he complaining? It’s obv an IKEA kitchen, which you usually design yourself…” But then it dawned on me, that the kitchen was ore-installed. I made all these mistakes with my own kitchen in my tiny apartment. Will keep your tips in mind when designing my next one or upgrading my existing one. 🙂

  • Hey Daniel, I have been following you for a long time, and I love what you do. I wanted to give you a little friendly feedback regarding your eye contact with the camera. It gets a bit distracting when you look at the camera, and than somewhere else, and back at the camera, many times. In future articles, if you focus on looking straight at the camera (it is ok to look away if you are “thinking” or showing something), it will increase your confidence, and credibility. Hope this helps. You are awesome!
