Interior Define, a company that has experienced several rounds of layoffs in 2022, has reduced its staff from around 300 to around 115. CEO Antonio Antonio has been involved in the ABC process, which involves aggregating and ensuring that the company’s business continues. The company sets expectations for 10-12 week deliveries from order to doorstep, but recent complaints indicate extreme delays far beyond what is conveyed upfront.
Interior Define offers a wide range of custom couches, including sectionals, armless sofas, and armless sofas. They guarantee that the frame and suspension system of their sofas and chairs will be free from manufacturer’s defects for up to 10 years. However, the company has been known to move the delivery date further out than the promised 12-16 weeks.
Customers have reported issues with their couch orders, with some taking over five months to arrive, which would have been fine if they were replacing a couch. Interior Define has also moved the date of delivery further out than the 12-16 weeks promised, which is four months for the original couch.
In addition to the custom journey, Interior Define offers a wide range of fabrics and collections to choose from. Customers can join their mailing list to receive inspiration, product updates, and special offers from the company.
In conclusion, Interior Define has faced numerous challenges in the past, including poor customer service, long delivery times, and a lack of communication about their products. Customers should consider other options and consider their needs when purchasing furniture from the company.

How long does interior design last?
The interior design process typically takes about six months to complete, depending on various factors such as project scope, availability of materials and contractors, and the duration of securing skilled tradespeople. For a simple room redecoration, a quick turnaround can be expected, while more extensive projects involving structural changes or whole-house makeovers may take several months. The process consists of phases, including initial planning, design development, and implementation.
However, individual projects may vary due to larger or more intricate designs. The timeline can also be influenced by the availability of materials and contractors, as well as the demand for skilled tradespeople in high-demand regions.
Does Havenly’s own Interior Define?
Interior Define and Havenly have dissolved Interior Define in a bankruptcy-like process called an “Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors”, or “ABC”, allowing Mayer and Havenly to buy its intellectual property without taking on its liabilities, which are estimated to be around $96 million. However, the transaction has been challenging, as Mayer has been paying shipping vendors out of pocket to get customers’ lost-in-limbo sofas delivered, and the complicated negotiations have caused delays and negative press.
Mayer, a fan of Interior Define, believes it deserved another shot and believes it would benefit Havenly, another venture-backed home industry e-comm brand. She believes that the prospect of Interior Define going under would not have been beneficial for Havenly. The complex transaction has raised questions about the future of the venture-backed home industry.
Is Interior Define good again?
In 2022, Havenly, a company with which they had previously been affiliated, purchased Interior Define and reported a favorable experience. The ordering and shipping process was executed seamlessly, and the sofa was delivered ahead of schedule, despite the six-week lead time. The white glove delivery service provided the customer with regular updates and delivered the desired sofa in pristine condition. The customer highly recommends Interior Define as a source for furniture.

Is interior define going out of business?
Interior Define, a company that has been in trouble, has entered into an assignment for the benefit of creditors (ABC) process. This process dissolves the company as a legal entity, and its remaining assets will be liquidated. The money generated will primarily go to paying its secured creditors, such as banks and investors. Interior Define’s website is still operational, as Havenly has bought its intellectual property, social channels, and website.
Havenly will run Interior Define as a new legal entity, free of the original company’s debts and obligations. This is a common practice when troubled businesses are sold to buyers who cannot afford to pay their debts. In this case, Havenly has bought Interior Define as a brand but is not legally obligated to pay its debts or satisfy orders placed in 2022.
What company bought Interior Define?
Denver-based Havenly, a rival direct-to-consumer home furnishing company, has bought the Interior Define brand and assets to fulfill outstanding orders before thousands of customers become creditors. Havenly’s co-founder and CEO, Lee Mayer, believes it is ethical and the right thing to do for the brand. Despite paying freight to ship over half of the overdue pieces, Havenly has not had the money or additional funding to build and ship thousands of outstanding orders.

Is it cheaper to use an interior designer?
Most people would choose to work with an interior designer to create their perfect home due to their vast design expertise, resources, and time and stress savings. However, the cost of hiring an interior designer is often a barrier. An interior designer’s experience and expertise can prevent costly mistakes, such as ignoring practical components like dimensions and layout, which DIY renovators and designers often overlook. This can lead to expensive replacements or additional renovations.
An interior designer is trained to take these practical details into account, ensuring that the final product is functional and looks as desired. This prevents the need to buy a new couch or move a kitchen island due to unsuitable dimensions or layouts. Overall, hiring an interior designer can save money on your project and ensure a more enjoyable and functional home.
How long should an interior paint job last?
The longevity of a paint job depends on various factors, including paint quality, the environment, and the preparation and professionalism during the painting project. Water-based paint is the most popular type due to its durability, safety, and environmental friendliness. Quality paints are more expensive but offer better durability and longevity. Budget paints lack certain elements that cause paint to bind solidly and hold color, leading to faster fade and chipping.
Another factor to consider is the color. Light colors show blemishes and scuffs more prominently in interior paint, while dark colors may fade quicker, especially on exterior jobs. A professional from Arizona Painting Company can act as a color consultant to help choose the best paint color and type to ensure longevity.

Interior Define, a furniture company, stopped delivering furniture in 2022 due to a cash crunch and inability to pay its vendors, including Asian factories and US logistics companies. This led to some orders being never manufactured and thousands being stuck in the port system. By the end of 2022, the company was only days away from complete insolvency. My honest review of the Caitlin Interior Define Sofa we purchased 5 years later. In this video, you’ll learn what I ordered, the …
I just found my fav youtuber for “home” stuff. I’ve watched about a dozen other youtube articles on “sofa recommendation”. While I understand most youtubers can’t just order them all and test them out in person, but recommending whatever just based on the looks and design, that’s not really helpful at all. I have my own eyes and savvy search skills, I can decide that myself lol. Your content is SO MUCH more informative and actually saves me time doing my own research. Thank you for making this article and actually putting in your time to deliver values. Appreciate it!
Yeah… West Elm/Pottery Barn et. al. are known for deleting negative reviews. Ashley Furniture/City Furniture and Jennifer Convertibles have always been great places for me to buy modern and transitional furniture for reasonable prices. The three year warranty at Ashley/City is fantastic too (if your furniture gets damaged they’ll replace it. If they no longer sell the piece, you get the new version of the item for free).
From what I have seen unless you’re switching up your vibe, whatever sofa you choose should at least have long legs. A sofa with height that continues the flow of your space and gives the illusion of having more space than there actually is. I personally would love a chic leather sofa with legs but I feel like I would want an accent/focal wall to compliment it.
