What Does The Term “Interior Comfort Mode” Mean Cargo Ship?

The Optimized Idle (OI) mode on the Freightliner Cascadia allows operators to set the desired interior temperature and maintain engine parameters. When “Comfort Mode YES” is selected when OI is armed, the Rear HVAC controller is enabled to request the CPC to start the engine to support the cabin. This mode can be used to heat the nub up, which can be done by parking the truck tilted to the right, and it should idle more often.

Thermostat Mode (WITH THE OPTIONAL OPTIMIZED IDLE THERMOSTAT) is an innovative climate control system that provides up to 10 hours of cooling or 34 hours of heating before a battery. It also limits the amount of outside air entering the cab, preventing dusty or smoky air from entering the cab. The recirculation mode can also decrease the time required to cool or heat.

When the Comfort Mode is turned on, the computer will start the engine and use the regular engine AC to cool the truck. If the Comfort Zone is not in the owner’s manual, the operator must figure it out on their freightliner. In summer, the truck may not meet demand, causing the engine to start and stop more frequently.

The Comfort Zone can be selected from four different Comfort Zones: 4°F (2°C), 7°F (4°C). On optimized idle with interior comfort mode, the truck switches between full cold on the air conditioning and what. To enable the Comfort Mode, follow the prompt to switch to “on” and press the OK button.

  • Quick question, the only way I get my apu to run continuously is by doing the optimized idle thing and also keeping my key in the on position. Is this correct? Otherwise, the apu just shuts off after 5 or so minutes. Am I okay with just leaving the key in the on position and running the apu all night while I sleep? (This is my first time working with any apu of any sort)

  • I’m so confused 😂. I had a ‘20 freightliner with opti idle. I left interior comfort OFF and the ac or heat would work just fine and the truck would crank after 6-8 hours and run for 90 minutes or so to recharge.. then cut back off. PERCECT AND EASY. Now I have a ‘24 and it’s IDENTICAL to the ‘20. Identical!! Except that in the OFF setting the ac only works for 10 minutes then it’s just a fan. The heat works fine. Truck cranks to recharge hours later. To use the ac.. I have to use interior comfort ON… and the truck runs and never cuts off. Wtf? That makes no sense. If it has to continually run, why have this system?

  • When I turn on the optimized idle the engine turn on for some time with the fan&ac on then when the engine auto shut off both bunk and front fan shuts off as well and won’t turn back on unless I manually turn the ignition key off then back on again it’s frustrating and never use the optimize idle for this reason

  • For some reason, when i cut on opti idle, the unit in the back will only run to get it cold. Once the engine cuts off, the air does too. The air has been off for 3 hours now and it’s 80 degrees in this truck. Am i doing something wrong? I feel like the a/c should come on much more frequently, not when it’s over 80 degrees
