What is Dior’s signature style?
Christian Dior, a renowned couturier of the twentieth century, launched his first collection in 1947 with the “New Look”, a collection celebrating ultra-femininity and opulence in women’s fashion. Born in Normandy, France, Dior moved to Paris at the age of ten and served in the military before starting his design career in 1935. He worked for designer Robert Piguet and later worked for Lucien Lelong at a larger design house before opening his own house in 1946.
Dior’s “New Look” collection was a departure from the 1920s and 1930s styles and was heavily influenced by late 19th-century body-shapers. The iconic Bar suit, with its notched collar and shawl collar, was the most iconic model in the collection. Dior was a strong advocate for shawl collars and curved necklines, which effectively complemented Dior’s curvaceous forms at the shoulders and hips. The notched lapel is more commonly found in the work of suit makers of the 1940s who stressed angled geometries.
In conclusion, Christian Dior’s “New Look” collection marked a significant shift in women’s fashion, showcasing his commitment to opulence and femininity.
What is the concept of luxury brands?
Luxury brands are characterized by high-quality, expensive, and non-essential products and services that offer symbolic and emotional values through customer experiences. These brands are associated with consumers’ perceptions of a high level of price, quality, aesthetics, rarity, and extraordinariness, as well as a high degree of non-functional associations. In today’s marketplace, the consumption of luxury goods is at a peak due to increasing global wealth and low interest rates, resulting in a vast supply of goods and services. Successful brands must develop and maintain individual images to sustain their competitive advantage and build brand equity that benefits customers and firms.
Previous research on brand experience and brand equity has mainly focused on functional aspects, which seem to differ for high-value luxury goods. Most studies have focused on industries like retail and fashion brands, sampling university students or visitors to shopping malls. This underpins the need for research within a single luxury industry with actual luxury customers who have a solid background with brand experiences.
This study aimed to explore the brand experience spectrum within the automotive industry in Germany, particularly in the affordable luxury sport car sector. Data was collected from in-depth interviews with German respondents who had experience with affordable and luxury sport cars. The conceptual framework was based on two empirically tested models: the consumer-based brand equity model and Lemon and Verhoef’s customer journey model.
The findings demonstrated that although the six brand equity concepts – brand awareness, physical quality, staff behavior, self-congruence, brand identification, and lifestyle – are broadly applicable in understanding customer experience in the affordable luxury car industry, the content of these dimensions differs from that suggested by previous authors. Cognitive and affective components build the foundation of customer brand experience, supporting Çifci et al.’s and Nam et al.’s study results.
Brand trust is an important and highly relevant concept for customer brand experience in the luxury automotive car industry. It influences customer satisfaction and loyalty, improving and complementing the existing model. The study also confirmed Lemon and Verhoef’s process model of the customer journey and experience, suggesting two different customer journeys depending on the customers’ previous experience (first-time and experienced buyers).
Customers are motivated to express their distinctiveness through product experience and brand identification, and to develop a loyal link to brands.
What is Louis Vuitton brand concept?
Louis Vuitton’s iconic “LV” monogram has been a symbol of luxury, aspiration, and exclusivity for over 120 years. Crafted by Georges Vuitton as a tribute to his father, the monogram and floral motifs have become a signature element of the brand. The brand’s full name, positioned beneath the iconic monogram, is rendered in the sleek Futura sans-serif font, reflecting the brand’s forward-thinking ethos. The LV monogram, introduced in 1954, features a direct overlap of a straight “V” with an italicized “L”, symbolizing tradition, sophistication, and the essence of luxury.
Initially handwritten, Louis Vuitton presented its name handwritten without a formal logo. Georges Vuitton, Louis’ son, introduced the now-famous logo and monogram a year after his father’s death and took over the business. The LV monogram remains a symbol of luxury, aspiration, and exclusivity, symbolizing power and affluence.
What makes a design luxurious?
Luxury brands, such as Louis Vuitton and Ermenegildo Zegna, are known for their exceptional craftsmanship and durability. These brands have a strong connection to their craft, as they often start with skilled workers in small workshops. Gucci, for instance, showcased their 90th anniversary advertising campaign by featuring black and white photos of their 1950s workshops, highlighting the consummate crafting knowledge passed down through generations.
This artisanal approach to luxury sets them apart from their competitors and sets them apart in the market. The focus on quality materials and high standards of hand-crafting sets luxury brands apart from their competitors.
