What Became Of The Original Interior Designer For Pete Nelson?

Pete Nelson, an American master treehouse builder, author, and host of Animal Planet’s Treehouse Masters, has made a name for himself on the show. Born on June 4, 1962, in Seattle, Nelson was excited about the idea of full-scale houses suspended mid-air from an all-nighter in 1987. He has been building treehouses in the Seattle area for decades, but his main priority has been building Nelson Treehouse.

During its 10 seasons on air, Nelson has traveled across the country to create dozens of elaborate treetop mansions, music studios, guest rooms, and even built a workshop for guests. He has also published six books and has created hundreds of treehouses around the world with his design and build firm, Nelson Treehouse and Supply.

Nelson’s family built a contemporary cabin with a bridge off the coast of Seattle on one of the San Juan Islands. The luxury treehouse will immerse guests in western Maine’s fresh mountain air, pristine lakes, and vibrant seasons. The interior designer suddenly disappeared after the eighth season, but now has hundreds of treehouses around the world with his design and build firm, Nelson Treehouse and Supply.

In 2015, the Oregon Construction Contractors Board fined Nelson and his company $5,000 for a treehouse the crew built in Neskowin, Oregon. Nelson fell in love with treehouses at age seven when his dad built him a tree-fort behind their garage in New Jersey. Each episode, Nelson and his team design and build custom treehouses for clients across the country.

  • Bonjour Pete, Sorry to write in french but I have started learning English last year and I don’t have a good level yet. It’s a pleasure to see you again. Unfortunatelly In Belgium we don’t see your show on TV anymore. Vous faites un merveilleux travail, vous prenez beaucoup de plaisir à nous le partager et cela se ressent. Continuez à nous faire rêver cela fait du bien. Bonne continuation à tous. Many greetings from Belgium, Roger

  • Sweet Pete. What you call a “treehouse”, I call a luxury home. I’ve always told my granddaughter I would build her a playhouse in my woods except I don’t know how. She just turned 10 and we still talk about that playhouse. Bless you dear man. You bring so much joy to so many. Maybe you could write a book for people who dream of building one of their own? You were born with a very special talent that only about 2% of people have. So lovely to see you again! Blessings, Laura Arlington, Washington

  • Pete is wrong calling the trees Tamaracks. I graduated University Montana Forestry and you learn about the native tree species. These trees are Western Larch in Montana. Tamarack are back east in Wisconsin Michigan etc. They’re the same genus, Larix, but different species. Western Larch is Larix occidentalis, while Tamarack is Larix laricina.

  • Stunning! I’ve always loved A frames. You’ve beautifully solved the one difficult aspect of headspace in the upper loft. I also appreciate the staggered A’s so to speak, with the dining room that joins them together beautifully. Thank you for sharing this, I now have new ideas to ponder! I have missed your show; the respect for nature and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge, all to make peoples dreams come to life.

  • Hi Pete, I don’t think the floor plan is well thought out because when I sleep upstairs and want to use the toilet, I always have to go down the ladder to do my business and then up the ladder again to sleep, so there is no toilet upstairs. I would also prefer stairs because when you get older, a ladder is not good and we are all getting older…… Greetings! Ivo

  • Hi Pete, first of all a compliment to you. You look more attractive now than you did in 2015. Your family can be proud of you and you of them. I love wood and stone. Of course, everything that has to do with nature. At DMAX here in Germany I watched a few seasons of your series the Treehouse Master, the Timber Kings and Carver Kings. Cheers to craftsmen and the work you all do. I’m happy for the people who can financially afford such great treehouses. Just looking at your work. An eye orgasm

  • Hey Pete you & the guys do great work! the show is funny, entertaining and inspiring. I been doing an unconventional cottage project on the seacoast kinda parallels with the spirit of the tree house been posting a couple articles here and there on yt. under my name. If your ever up the Nh coast on a build swing by I’d love to show ya!

  • Silver maples are notoriously weak trees with brittle wood. They were planted in my neighborhood when the area was developed back in the 1950s and many of the trees have come crashing down over the years in storms, usually taking down power lines with them. There is no way I’d build a treehouse in a silver maple.
