To save energy and keep your home cool in summer, set your thermostat to 72 degrees when you’re home and increase it to 78-80 degrees when you’re not home or asleep. Keep the temperature below 80 degrees to avoid danger to people, pets, and surfaces. In winter, set the temperature to 68 degrees when awake and 62 degrees when sleeping. Lower the indoor temperature to 55 degrees when nobody’s home, but avoid freezing pipes. Consider the needs of pets, chronically ill or elderly individuals, or babies when programming your thermostat.

It is an effective method of conveying messages in both print and digital formats. In the field of design, the principle of “less is more” is often observed. The incorporation of textured three-dimensional (3D) designs represents a promising avenue for the integration of hyperrealistic 3D trends into future digital art.
How can I be unique in interior design?
To make your home feel more unique, consider using unconventional colors, blending design styles and eras, collecting and curating artwork, and not overlooking smaller details. By doing so, you can transform your home into a reflection of your uniqueness and create a space that truly represents you.

📹 Hot 2024 Interior Design Trends That Are TIMELESS
In this video, I go over some of the my favourite 2024 interior design trends and discuss the ones that I think are going to age …
Thank you so much. I finally feel I have permission to embrace both my insanity and hatred of actually travelling to the places I want to see. Plus holidays are sooooo expensive. I’m going to turn my bedroom into a pyramid. Obviously going full Tuscan in the kitchen, and my open plan dining and living room will be a homage to a Norwegian fishing village. Who wants to live in the rainy North of the UK, when you can literally be in 3 more impressive places simultaneously. Off to get paint samples and a sarcophagus. Laters ❤
You got me! I was really fooled by the TV trays. To be fair I was only half listening at first, but then when you said off-handedly that “cottage-y decor is of course one of your favorite styles” I so was so surprised and confused I started listening to every word. By the time you got to plush bathrooms I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. Well done!!! ❤😂 I love this episode!
I’m from Ukraine and I’m not too good at knowing English, sometimes I get what you are saying from the context. And perusal this episode I was thinking: is it real, what I hear and understand or I should listen it once again and more carefully to understand? I finely got it in 2:49 😂 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
“No, that’s a rookie move.” 😂 Surely Nick can’t top that … “think what can trap the most bacteria and then work from there.” 😅 Then the architecture … the much too small shutters, turrets, fortress from the HOA … the little windows … AND the resurrection of the Tuscan kitchen! 🤣 Laughed so hard it made people wonder what I was up to! Happy April 1! Love your work, Nick, but this one made my day. 😆
I’m so gullible. You got me two years in a row 😂. Was trying to think which of my sibs got off with my mom’s old TV trays, and wondering if they’d be willing to let go of them. Then came to the conclusion that they just don’t fit my decorating style, regardless of how popular and amazing Nick says they are. In fact, they’re just plain ugly! That’s when the light bulb came on!
Love this! I’ve been scouring the stores for vintage TV trays! And I’m going to use the yarn my grandma left behind after she died to make a toilet seat cover. I almost threw it out recently when purging clutter recently, because she died 21 years ago, but I just couldn’t lose that last bit of grandma. Now I can make a toilet seat cozy and think of grandma when I sit on the toilet and scroll! Thanks Nick!
It was the fact that he was saying all this with a straight face, for me! 😂 I come to Nick’s articles when I need a bit of relaxation and fun commentary because his sarcasm and gentle poking fun is my favorite but this article was above and beyond even the usual fun articles! I was laughing so hard! Nick you made my whole week!
It was 2:07 before I caught on!! I kid you not, I SERIOUSLY was JUST thinking YESTERDAY… YESTERDAY!… why did I sell that nice wooden TV tray set I had in my yard sale a couple years ago?! They don’t make them out of heavy wood like that anymore… and so what if we want to eat in the living room sometimes?! I was trying to declutter, and they weren’t even taking up that much space, sitting there tucked away between the curio cabinet and the wall… 😢 And they were useful… USEFUL!! 😭 Bahahahaha! That was so funny! Omgosh, that nasty green carpet up the side of that tub… YIKES!!! How you didn’t burst out laughing, I’ll never know! 🤣 I really do miss those darn TV trays I had though… 🤔 UR!
OMG!! Bwahahaha! Perfect! “Who doesn’t love a cup of salt in their dish?” ???? You are hysterical, Nick! I LOVE this article! Been enjoying your articles for at least a year. I’m sorry you didn’t completely fool me but you had me at the TV trays and the following segment or two. We now need a second sarcastic national holiday so you can do TWO of these a year. Happy April Fool’s Day!
A former friend of mine lost custody of her kids for a couple months because she had a really bad hoarding problem. perusal you use sarcasm to rip the cluttercore “trend” to shreds lifted a weight off of my shoulders, thank you so much for saying what was on my mind better than I could and thank you for doing it in a funny way. Maximalism is fine if it’s well organised and tidy, but if you have clutter, you need therapy because you might lose custody of your kids because of it.
For the last few months I wondered if you would do a article like this, then I forgot about it. When I saw this I was so happy! This is why I love you! Who could not love these? You brought to mind an in law who had carpeted bathrooms (yes, multiple so you could not escape them). I used to hate going there, and staying over for the holidays with numerous people was horrible. They were a large family, with many men and later, many little boys. When they were selling the house I told them they absolutely needed to take the carpet out.
My parents had a soft faux wood toilet seat in the guest bathroom. Yes, it was faux wood, and yet also filled with foam. It would make a sigh sound as the air escaped from it as you sat down. Because it was cracked. And the foam where it was cracked was all yellow with age and who knows what else. CHEFS KISS!
Lovin’ that Winchester architecture. Everyone needs a private builder on their home payroll seven days a week because the ghosts are dictating the new additions that must be constructed daily. This year with the dirty TV trays, I’m here for it everyday. Not only April Fools day! You’re a scream. Uh, P.S. I hope your mother has a sense of humor otherwise you’re in deep doo doo.
You know what, I wouldn’t hate half of these McMansions so much if they had 13 rooms and 14 bathrooms, but I look online and it’s always 5,000sqft 3 beds, 4.5 baths and I’m just sitting here with my family of 13 thinking, “wth are you doing with the rest of that square footage with your one child and guest room for the family and friends you don’t actually have because you can’t even find your immediate family in this lofted ceiling, cheaply insulated cardboard box you’re paying to heat and cool?”
I have never understood carpet in a wet area. If you have a cat or kids, I do not recommend carpeting your bathroom. Cats (mostly males in my experience) tend to pee on things that smell musty or damp like tub side rugs or wet towels. Kids will probably flood it…. Or is it just my kids that do that, haha.
I died laughing through this whole article. Especially loved the bathroom decor. Please, people, bathrooms should be minimally decorated. A nice shower curtain and a painting of some sort and that’s it! No rugs in front of toilet (urine catchers) and fluffy toilet seats. Ugh! Ick! 🤢 did you know the Japanese clean their bathrooms daily? That’s one country I want to visit.
As a bona fide tail end Boomer, I detested the Tuscan kitchen. It never did it for me. But Nick, I tell ya, now I’m rethinking the whole thing. I’mma gonna completely makeover my 6 x 12 foot galley kitchen in my 100 year old crumbling rental apartment. Olive trees and tomatoes on the weathered brick backsplash. Terra cotta everywhere. I’m so excited.
Anyone who believes in Feng Shui knows that angular shapes on a house are taboo. Shutters on the exterior windows of a house look beautiful but are troublesome because birds love to nest inside. Birds poos is a problem. I have a Tuscan kitchen, probably because I’ve had it for so long, but I now prefer it to the clean lines of a modern kitchen.
Please do standup comedy, this was too funny. “Don’t fake (a patina), don’t rub a bunch of dirt on them and kind of like think that you’re going to like fake distress it, no leave that for the KELLY CLARKSON collection, that’s not what we do.” “I want to see the ginormous hood fans that if they fall on you they could kill your entire family.” I am DEAD.
THIS GOT ME GOOD! When you mentioned your mom’s trays I was confused BUT tying it into antiques I was like.. okayyyyyy I see I see 😅 you know, shoutout to your mom BUT when you said the carpet in the bathroom??? I ran back to the title/description like did I read this wrong?? 😂😂😂 Happy late aprils fools
Whew!!! 😅🤣 I’ve only been a subscriber for a short time, and for a full 40 seconds my jaw was on the floor!!! (Maybe because I’m perusal April 4th instead of on the 1st, duh). Congratulations Nick! You kept a straight face, you had reasons (such good reasons!!!) for all of your opinions. Hahaha. 🏆 I laughed so hard, I mean the tv trays (lived in!!), carpet up the bathroom wall, and I loved the references to architecture, (angles, columns, little windows…). Thank you! Your mom must have a great sense of humour too, ♥.You truly couldn’t have done this any better. Perfect.
First time to your website, still waking up, and 5 minutes in… I’m thinking, what? 😮 I then got immediately to the comments, to see if it’s just me, or what is going on! 😂 Very happy to see your first comment, “April Fools!” ❤👍🏽 Alright, now I can continue perusal and enjoying your clever, straight faced, professional and fun, April Fools Day!
Oh Nick… I wish you were my neighbour! 😂 But that would mean you lived in Türkiye, and Turkish interior decor would stress you out. Tv trays, as many couches as you can possibly fit into a space, and chairs fill any remaining negative space. 😅 Oh and blue track lighting / LED lighting are THE sign that you be fancy here 😂
Lol, I didn’t know it was an April’s fools article. I couldn’t beleive how I just didn’t agree with any of your opinions, I was a bit shocked. Lol don’t go to Paris, Las Vegas Paris Hotel is just as good, don’t go to Tuscany, just buy a Tuscany kitchen. I was amazed, but since I am European I can’t pick the irony and also don’t know if they are really your opinions, I don’t know you that much. How funny 😆 Edit: also that much carpet and uphosltery in the bathroom, I was disgusted thinking about how difficult is to keep that really clean. Lol, I was thinking people are going crazy 🤣
Watching this 5/5. A bit surprised when you start talking about the tvstand. Well, maybe I’ll get it later when you explained more. Or maybe it’s because English isn’t my first language. But, checked the release date when you said how much better it is with your phone than other people when eating /do not ask what I’m doing just now/. Lovely!😂😄👏👏👏
Nick, it’s 4/22 when I’m perusal this and I thought I’m glad TV trays are back, but Nick I’m sorry but those old trays are ugly. Then the paper towel holder, I can’t believe you like it, then carpet in the bathroom, has he lost his mind…, then I looked at the comment you wrote .. it’s April fool’s day. so I enjoyed some good laughs. You were so convincing. 😂😂😂
I can excuse the TV trays. I can understand the plush bathrooms. I can even look past the booty sinks. But the “bold” architecture is where I draw the line. When I see over-embellished or asymmetrical/unbalanced houses, I am viscerally disgusted. I don’t know how you faked your way through that one. Hats off to you
I’m sorry but I nearly threw up with the crotchet toilet seat?!?? Thank goodness my parents didn’t get into the “carpet sets” people put on toilets when I was growing up!!! You may not have seen them because I was born in the late 50’s. It appalled me as a young child. Carpet???? I don’t understand why people ever thought that it was a good idea to “clean” in the same place as a toilet?!? I never have and never will…. Keep doing what you’re doing ❤ I love perusal you
I watched this on Saturday morning, and i thought you were serious. For about a second, then I realized when you posted it. I laughed so hard many times, I almost choked on my breakfast. Multiple times. You are so funny! Thank you for doing this. your articles are always delightful, but this one, man. It takes the cake.
