Qgis Interior Polygon Boundary Matching Technique?

To align the borders of two overlapping polygon layers in GIS, go to Settings -> Snapping options and enable “Avoid intersection” for your layer. Then, overlap the borders of the second polygon over the first polygon, cropping the second polygon. Edit the Border color’s expression and set it to @symbol_color. Set your new fill style as the default to ensure the border always matches.

Expression-based polygons can be styled using the full range of vector symbolization options in QGIS, including fill colors, border lines, and transparency levels. Spatial queries allow you to select features in a layer by their spatial relationships with features from another layer. This functionality is available via the Select by option.

In this blog post, we explore the process of digitizing in QGIS, including creating polygon features, converting points, lines, or raster data into polygon data, and finding all polygons that share boundary with each of the polygons in a layer. An example script can be used to find all polygons that share boundary with each of the polygons in a layer and add their names to the attribute table.

To merge selected features, first select both polygons you wish to merge and use the Merge Selected Features tool with the OGC_FID of 1. Matching is done based on a tolerance distance, and vertices will be inserted or removed as required to make the geometries match the reference geometries. The Draw line only inside polygon option displays the polygon borders inside the polygon, helping to clearly represent adjacent polygon boundaries.
