  • As being a senior and old owning a home I have lived in a modular since 1971 it was high-quality and I’ve had no issues with the structure matter-of-fact I’ve had some remodeling done and they say that they can’t even build a home the quality of this one nowadays, I think this is a great idea for seniors that don’t want to have to live in a large home anymore, a trailer park or senior living facility, smaller upkeep savings on utilities easy In-N-Out access everything you look for as the seniors age of 74 great idea Elon Musk!❤

  • That isn’t musks company. It is from a company called Boxable. They are like 60k+ sheeshe these fail vids. He doesn’t OWN boxabl he owns a boxabl house. The company is privately owned by a father and son and musk has ZERO stake in the company he just owns one of the houses as a guest house at space X

  • BOXABL was started in 2017 by father-son duo Paolo and Galiano Tiramani. Paolo is an industrial and mechanical engineer who has over 150 patent filings, and Galiano is a serial technology entrepreneur. BOXABL started with $2,000,000 invested from the co-founders. They began R&D, testing, and spent time scouring the planet for alternate building materials and construction methods that would enable the automotive-style mass production of houses.

  • It’s about time! Think about it – what do people need? A roof to keep the rain and snow off of the head. Walls to break wind and cold. Floors to keep the feet from getting frostbite. A place to clean up, cook rudimentary meals and a bed to support the back. And even better the little houses can be expanded. I think this is a good idea.

  • Boxabl is not owned by Elon Musk, but Musk has shown interest in the company. He reportedly purchased a Boxabl Casita, which is a tiny modular home, and used it as a residence near SpaceX’s facilities in Texas. While this connection has fueled speculation, Boxabl remains an independent company founded by Paolo Tiramani, Galiano Tiramani, and Kyle Denman. Musk’s involvement seems limited to being a high-profile customer rather than an owner.

  • Solution to housing for many homeless. Set up communities with these homes. Make residents do jobs in these communities to maintain neighborhoods. Put stores in the communities for residents. Every state and city should look into this. Keep it for citizens and veterans who are homeless.could be so self sustaining.

  • Interesting but how well insulated is it? Wondering if it would be sufficient housing in the Canadian winters? Not only would it be good as a starter home but also as a ‘Granny Pad’ for aging parents. They could have their own space and independence on their child’s property where they are close and can be cared for more easily.

  • Starting at $60,000* * Pricing is subject to change. Additional costs for Permitting, Taxes, Transport, and Installation are quoted by installer following site survey. VAT is inluded? In Europe will be more than 100.000 EUR. You can buy great house for that amount of money in Croatia. Not in capital and big cities but in smaller towns.

  • I imagine the $10,000 price tag has gone up since this article was made (like everything else). It most likely does not include appliances, the expense of hook ups(water, etc) and upgrades done after house is up & ready for appliances, light fixtures, plumbing, etc. From what I have seen, the $10,000 is most likely 4 bare walls forming a tiny home without the extras. By the time the extras are added, the price is naturally going to go up & up with each feature. But that does not mean that $10k for “construction ” of the basic frame is not a good deal. A traditionally built tiny home would be much higher for just the same amount of space as the $10 k one. As always Elon Musk is ahead of the innovation, seems there is nothing he is afraid to take on!! Once this baby stage of innovation grows up & improves, the sky is the limit.

  • Genius..Elon Musk cares about people and HE HELPS THEM. Everybody else is trying to squash this. Building companies are going after Elon. My lil trailer in the woods is falling apart an I pay 350.00 for it. I get 995.00 disability..raising my grandson. I’m 67. Now people can OWN a home. Tennessee 🇺🇸

  • This is a great concept! The foldable design, practical layouts. But you need property and hookups, (electric, water, septic, possinly solar) and then starting prives are much higher than 10k. The single room casita, (bery nice) starts at 60k, not even close to 10k. That was its starting gimic. So this will easily be a 100k small house.

  • I love this! the expandable options are what really have me sold. I can purchase one module for 10k, as I already have some land, then add 2 or 3 modules and end up with 3 or 4 bedroom, full size kitchen, 2 or 3 bathrooms, etc. my concern is I want to see testing results on high winds, flooding and freezing cold conditions.

  • In theory it’s really nice and affordable. However, the smart home tech I think would be vulnerable to hackers. The off grid solar option would be good . Unless the area you live in doesn’t get enough sunshine. Or solar panels get damaged by storms. Solar energy systems are expensive and cost more than the house itself. Definitely pros and cons. But I like it.

  • Some facts: Musk does not have any ownership in the company. Houses aren’t $10K, they actually start at $60K. Lots of dodgy nefarious things about this company online. At least $1Million of deposits have been refunded. Factories are not fully operational and houses aren’t ready any time soon. Besides that, fantastic article.😝🤔😂

  • During the 1997 earthquake here in Umbria, central Italy, I remember that the regional government gave containers to the displaced population. The citizens of the affected areas remained there for at least ten years before their homes were renovated and habitable again. They were made of steel so they were hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. This idea of folding houses is not that revolutionary because something similar has been around for a while now, but it is still better than containers. If governments set up these structures on free land for the homeless or families in need, it would be a good compromise. I just wonder if the production process is so environmentally friendly too…

  • Also, in this internet age everybody must consider themselves in housing themself in any form of habitats, the cost of them which must not exceed $ 10 thousand let it be or not of Musk’s pod and fully discard the traditional styled show off expensive properties. I myself am prepared to live even in a $ 10 tent or just under a tree if only I get a spot to erect it or let stay under where I can spend my this lifetime .

  • I think the rush to built a lot of houses should be somewhat tempered by the consideration that population is supposed to decrease. I do feel for those who need a home, but we don’t want too many of these littering the landscape if they become unnecessary. Old dilapidated areas should have at least some of their buildings removed and replaced by these rather than these taking over valuable untouched areas. Let’s build where concrete jungles already exist!

  • Elon Musk must live in tiniest box properties always while he is still on the Earth, that is Because he has to adopt an unusual life of himself ready to live in a rocket head capsule that is going to make a landing on the Mars together with any uncertain number of Mars migrants ultimately. Yes, It makes a sense actually.

  • AT 10 grand this would be a great deal. It seems that many people here have already discovered that is not the price that it is going for now. 60K, they say. Perhaps the square footage makes that not such a great bargain. I would have been interested in one, but these startup companies take years to get going and the backlog would be years long. At 78 and with military related health issues now coming to the fore I suppose it will not happen in my lifetime. A great idea, but the main challenge seems to be getting it to be affordable for people. Elon Musk is a great man, and he finds innovative ways to accomplish things, but this will be a real challenge. And that is what he is good at. So, who knows?

  • We have a collapsible garage made of reinforced concrete $2,000. And the manufacturer has already made money on it. The size is 3.6m 6.5m and 2.7m. Insulate the top and paint the inside. Instead of doors – a window and a door. 3 such garages and a house for 2 room and kitchen with a sankzl. For 10000 with finishing with your own hands, you can get. Not every tornado will damage it.

  • Perspective: House to live for a life at 10,000. The average cost of high school per pupil per year in 2024 is 17,370$. That’s 57.57% that value. Beyond Kudos! Yet, I expect lots of pushback from government. Perhaps by rearranging property taxation to a tax per dwelling and not appraised value. Doesn’t stop my admiration. In human terms this is up there with alternating current. IMHO.

  • I think the $10,000 house is a Brilliant idea to help with the homeless issues. The $10,000 house to stay away from the government. Unless it’s restored. The $10,000 house would work as a neighborhood of $10,000 house’s. The $10,000 house also be called the LEGO $10,000 house. Box ables the $10,000 house. I would love a $10,000 house. I’d have a $10,000 house somewhere on my own $10,000 property. The $10,000 house is the best idea I’ve heard ever. Brilliant.

  • 💪🙂🖐️❤️🏠.it looks beautifull with the offgrid architectuur .🙂💪.Elon his initiative help solve the problems or challenges in this world especially for people having a own home and trying to help to solving the housing crisis and the optimistic positive other benefits of these houses much respect for that Elon because every gift that God and Jesus gives you to help solve problems in this world i believe God will bless it and support it everything that we do in agreement with God His Word .🖐️💪♥️📯.

  • crazy to start with elon bought this home for 50k then say these are 10k homes…. on their website they say “START” at 60k. smh. Make the home cost about $80 to $120 per sq foot and you will see these really start to move. Currently for the $60k for 391 sq feet you get about $154 per sq ft. still just a bit to expensive for how little you are getting and this does not include the land.

  • A cardboard box from IKEA is more sustainable and affordable! There is a room to improve! What about the cost of land not far from some basic infrastructure in US? Transportation and deployment ? Electricity, heating, water and sewer? Some internet? Is solar roof affordable or sustainable? Looks like you can pierce a wall with your (middle) finger! Sorry, don’t wanna rain on your parade, but this looks sketchy for 10k

  • $10, 000 – i really good idea – but where will you put it? at $10,000, how big will that house be? who will it be for .? Park home providers, those who just want a weekend/holiday home in nature.? if you do not have the land already, You will have to purchase the land and that will be expensive. then they will be the issue .. can you build amenities, ie, Gas/electric, sanitary, power supply. i do not feel this will be realistic for western lift style – people are too use to their comfort – so to have to buy gas bottles, empty their toilet.

  • Im looking more into the law overturned by the Supreme Court. The Chevron deferance. Wich states that we have been ruled by a fourth branch of Government. One that over regulates . I think somewhere it has to apply to tiny living. Solar, composting, rainwater catchment. We need to get back to basics.

  • This house isn’t 10000 dollars it’s 60000. Plus it’s not the price of a home. It costs more to get house hooked up to utilities/electric and what about land???? So how much is a plot of land you can build on in most desirable areas? Add those costs to a modular build and the numbers look less attractive.

  • @ElonMusk I will buy one for sure. At 60 yrs old and now being on disability yes Sir I will take my money that I have saved and pay for the entire home with cash. I will look for a place in North Ga I just pray that I can find a little piece of land that I can put it on. I love it thank you Elon Musk thank you Sir so much.

  • There has to be infrastructure developed to accommodate these modular structures. That could be the basis for developers to establish subdivisions that include sanitary sewer, water, electricity, streets and drainage. Of course, it would cost a lot more than $10,000 but still cheaper than buying new homes in current subdivision projects. These homes have a place in the housing market to give buyers reasonable alternatives to highly expensive homes in the current market.

  • We see in Tesla Y camera that a person walking in our drive way but when we look outside there is nobody. It puzzle us. We also see sometimes in our garage while we coming back at night but in real there is nobody. We did several test and find out that camera will show if there is somebody there, but how come it is showing somebody while there is nobody there, Is it JIN or a GHOST that powerful energetic Tesla camera catches it?. There is no customer service or helpline of Tesla to put this question to. Some company charging for questions to ask a Tesla expert. It should be free. Do, any of you has an answer. It is easy to say this is a computer Glitch, or computer or camera issue or mistake, but we do not take those answers as real unless Tesla company provide an explanation. We need real technical answer why it shows a ghost same like a real person in camera when there is nobody out there.

  • To be honest these type of Houses is Copycats from Chinese Inventor Ok, Per..lease Don’t Tell the world that Chinese People are copying Elon Mush’s $10000. Houses Ok folks?😂😂 These type of houses has been invented by the Chinese Companies for Decade already Ok!😂😂 But Anyways I really like Elon Mush’s Idea so much❤❤because At lease He dedicated for Americans citizens and the world to share his houses to live like a normal human being on earth Thanks again Elon Mush Bravo❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  • This will completely take manufacturing/Mobile homes out of business. The traditional home will take a hit over time but, not everyone will appeal to the 10k home. It will take on a stigma that will replace the so called low income housing market so much so that it will continue to drive buyers away and towards the standard tradition home. So although the conventional home may feel some disruption due to affordability. The tradition housing market isn’t going anywhere with regards to the middle class and upper class family conventional build homes.

  • that house will need a Lot to put it on, zoning laws, building codes that go with it ..that alone could cost up to 100 thousand dollars or more plus the property tax issue then there is water, sewage, electrical, internet and cable TV hookups, fences around the property . so you are looking at 150 thousand dollars to 200 thousand dollars for your so called 10 thousand dollar home . Then there is the cost of getting a Morgage from the Bank that involves, Lawyers etc. At risk populations will never get a mortgage Only the rich will buy these homes, develop the Lots on a 40 acre field and rent them out, so the poor will remain homeless

  • I would love to own one. I live in an apartment that doesn’t have a washer and dryer in my unit or any unit. They have a public washer and dryer but it stinks and they don’t clean it. I’m germ a fob. I have anxiety about using the ones on site. I have to leave my apartment go to a nearby town to use a laundry mat which I have anxiety about. I have been trying to find a reasonable price place to live but everything is to expensive. This box home sounds reasonably priced. I would love to try and buy 1 for myself. I

  • This would be so wonderful for humanity especially if they really become available to those of us who truly need them, these landlords are slum lords that want us to live at risk in old houses with no fire escapes, no maintenance and charging over 2K for a studio..he should make communities of these i would certainly want one.

  • I mean the housing market right now is absolutely disgusting and through the roof for no reason what’s the cost of living is through the roof a man like this can make a lot of money even off of a $10,000 home a lot of people would buy these and that’s a lot of money😅 I would buy one right away what gets you at the same time though is property tax that is a whole nother type of theft he could buy a house outright pay for the land and still have the pay property tax but we’re not going to talk about that😅 but yeah this is a very great solution for so many people but you know there’s going to be certain people out there they’re going to want to stop this because they’re greedy

  • These are wonderful, and as presented, a far more efficient way to build shelter and homes for people. However there is still the prohibitive cost of land purchase to be considered. I believe the land issue requires a new innovative approach like the boxable home. Land opened to people from governments and a small annual amount paid like land tax could be a possible solution.
