Skewed doors are those that don’t align properly within their frame, causing uneven gaps around the edges or difficulty in closing and latching. This misalignment can be caused by various factors, such as the Knockdown steel door frame being twisted or out of square. To fix an out of square exterior door frame, loosen the compression anchor screw on the jamb and insert a temporary spreader between the jambs. If the door is not in place, replace the wall with the door. To re-square a jamb, remove the trim, cut nails or screws holding the jamb in place, and use new shims to square the jamb. To over-correct the problem, run a few screws upward through the top of the frame, angled slightly to get a level working surface. The process involves removing the door and trimming, square the opening off, level the working surface, shift the door frame, and get a level.
