This video provides step-by-step instructions on how to fix a sliding cavity pocket door. Pocket doors come in two main styles: top-hung or floor-track models. To fix a stuck or not opening or shut all the way pocket door, follow these steps: 1) Determine the type of pocket door you have, 2) Check the rollers, 3) Clean the track, 4) Inspect the rollers, 5) Remove the casing along the top of the door, 6) Remove the door from its track, 7) Make sure the door isn’t warped, and 8) Examine the rollers.
If you have a pocket door that sticks, doesn’t roll properly, or locks incorrectly, don’t replace it if you don’t need to. Instead, install a new track, rollers, or both to restore the functionality of your pocket door. Some common problems can be fixed without removing trim or drywall, but most issues require only select areas of the door.
To fix a pocket door that has come off its track or doesn’t roll smoothly along its track, purchase a pocket door kit at a hardware store. Lubricate the rollers, tighten the door on the track, remove the trim warning, and replace the pocket door track.
In addition to fixing pocket doors, you can also install wall demolition, reframing, and full pocket door installation. First, remove the architraves and door jambs to ensure smooth and central door operation.

This is exactly the kind of project that makes me insane. It’ll take me 5 minutes to get the wrench on the bolt and I’ll get one quarter of a turn and then I’m back to another 5 minutes of hunt and poke. My wife will wander into the room and ask enough irritating questions that I’ll eventually fling the wrench into the corner of the room and then have to spend the next 10 minutes trying to find it while mumbling obscenities under my breath while my wife berates me for my temper. 😂😂😂
Took care of some caulking this week which, every winter, shrinks (It’s in the kitchen and on an outside wall) and looks bad. I used all your tips for removing the old caulk, made sure to use Dynaflex 230 and did a nice, neat job. So many tips I’ve learned from you, despite my many years of DIY experience. Old dogs CAN learn new tricks. Thanks for the great content and please keep it coming.
Right on bro, this was just what I needed to get the job done. I was lucky, mine was easier. The entire strip and the top molding piece are all one piece and it’s just held in by 2 screws. On this unit, there is also a little plastic lock that snaps the bolt in place after you hook it into the top mount. Much appreciated, my brother, God bless. ~ Pastor Nick702, Blessed Road Ministry
