Curious how you determined smart lock was on the front dif? Could it be a re-worded lock that has always been on the rear? My 2023, ordered in Oct, 22 came in last Thursday and the dealer let me have till Sunday (yesterday) to decide to buy it or wait and order a 24 based on “new developments”. My dealer and about 15 other YouTube articles have all said Red is new, Blue is gone is the only difference in 23/24. Not arguing with you, just wondering how we know smart lock is on the front.
A nice machine for sure and I like the new red, I think it’s one of the best looking Can-am’s I’ve seen. That said, I really like the new Ranger 1500 XD and it’s a NEXT LEVEL machine that has way more to offer than a new locker. The turning radius not a huge deal for me cause I don’t have a 4 seater. Ordered the new Ranger 1500 XD Northstar Ultimate (Sunset Red) a few weeks back and can’t wait to get it!!
Hi…..I agree with all your comments. I did buy the Defender XMR because I wanted the front and rear lockers. My intent is to build up to a cab version over time, but I love the 15 inches of clearance as well. I am putting an inferno heater system and don’t really care about AC. I have a 10,000 lbs WARN winch that I use for my truck that is removable and wired for the front and back of my truck and the back of the Defender. It is cradled and fits into the 2 inch hitch receiver . It has saved me and others multiple times for its size and location on the rear of the machine. I added Diamond LED lights, as well as a light bar, but Can am needs to fix this problem, which they have on their ATV’s, so expecting 2024’s to have the upgrade. I do not have the roof rack, is this useful? The only thing I find is that the machine is big to be riding with ATV’s and the added height is a concern.
Do you ever have problems when driving in the rain/through puddles and the dang interior fogs up like crazy? I have a defender 6×6 and had the cab kit with heat installed and it turns into a wet sauna in there the second it’s wet. It is my biggest pet peeve aside from the damn handle on the windshield getting loose and falling apart.
I am going to order o e of the new 2023 Defender Max Limited’s in a couple of weeks. I plan on putting Tusk Terrabite 30x10x14 with the Teton wheels on mine with the 6:1 offset as I don’t want to go any wider than stock. You did not say but I don’t think you have to do anything like installing forward a-arms or lift kit to run 30’s, correct? Also, did you also go with the 6:1 wheel? Thanks for your help.
In my immediate family, we bought four Defender Max Limited ATV’S. The first three came with locking doors. The last one, a LoneStar Edition, came without locking doors. What bonehead at Can-Am decided to stop building the rigs without door locks? These will be used for hunting. Now I am unable to lock my extra hunting gear inside the ATV. Bait and switch. I am not impressed.
