This is helpful. Just bought a 1984 townhouse and will remodel the two ensuites. Thankfully I’m keeping the floor tile and vanity cabinets but replacing the door/drawer fronts, toilets and faucets. The tub/shower and coffin-sized shower have to go too. My main concern is moisture and potential leaks. Hoping to do some of the work, even if it’s just demo.
Dude a basic bathroom remodel is waaaay cheaper then 3 grand especially if you ain’t taking down walls or floors or nothin if you just repaint over everything like your walls and get a refinishing kit for your bathtub and your tiles or shower wall whatever you have you can do for dirt cheap like you can find shower combos for like 50 bucks to 100 for cheap and light fixtures for dirt cheap and you can find toilets brand new for like 50 bucks the vanity also is dirt cheap u can find ones that look nice for under 150 bucks so yeah the most expensive part would prolly be the floor if you decide to get vinyl or whatever you choose so overall if you know what your doing you can easily make a bathroom look nice asf for less 1 grand IF you ain’t tearing down walls or redoing floors
Hi Jeff, I have the ability but it takes me a lot longer to do thing as it used to. I have a small toilet downstairs and I was hoping to fit a standard toilet/hand basin/ shower in it so that I could then have the downstairs utilities and take my time doing a walk in bathroom with heated floor, towel rack and shower. I have since decided that the downstairs toilet is just too small by about 8 inches so I have had to make other arrangement for showering (my girlfriend is not too excited about this but no other way” the upstairs bathroom has a wood floor and the room is tiled. I intend to remover the bath and tiles, then Re-plaster where necessary, before painting the complete room with “Aquaseal” and laying down ½ inch plywood on the floor to receive the heating element then tiling the floor with 24 inch square tiles, I have 5 inches between the floorboards and the ceiling of the kitchen below. As I will be raising the floor level by at least 1 inch (plywood + element + tile) and I want the drain in the far side of the room (about 5 foot by 7 feet) I am not sure I will have the drop needed for the drain. Are there any new “P” traps that would give me more drop in my bathroom? The basin is on the outside wall so can be put outside and into a downspout and I have a fitting that will let me raise the toilet up an inch so there are no problems there, just the slope to the drain.
