In Adobe Illustrator, you can use the Fill and Stroke tool to add colors, patterns, or gradients inside an object or on its outline. To do this, select the object using the Selection tool or the Direct Selection tool, then double-click on the Fill box in the Tools panel, Properties panel, Control panel, or Color panel. This will automatically apply the selected color to the object.
To create a cozy flat design interior, follow these steps:
- Select the text and double-click on the Fill box.
- Choose a color from the Color Picker.
- Move the slider on the color bar to find a base color and click on the Select color area to choose a color.
- Select the object you want to fill.
- When an object is selected, its appearance attributions will show on the Properties > Appearance panel.
In Adobe Illustrator, there are two ways to fill a shape with an image: Clipping Mask or Draw Inside methods. The clipping method is preferred, but you can also use the Fill box in the Tools panel, Properties panel, or Color panel to indicate that you want to apply a fill rather than a stroke.
To apply a fill, double-click Fill for object fill and apply Effect > Path > Offset path. Make the path large enough to close all gaps and make it bigger on the outside as well.
For the most accurate results, use the Pen Tool to trace around the exterior of your shape and then fill with black.
