How To Set Lights Inside To Go Out When A Door Opens?

This article provides three methods to turn off interior lights when a door is open: pressing and holding the on-and-off switch, using personalization settings, and closing the latch. The Audi Q5 has an easy way to switch off all interior lights with the hatch. The lights turn off immediately but do not return when the door is closed and opened again. The button over directly across on the left side turns the lights on.

The interior overhead lights will not come on when a door is opened, but they do come on when the overhead buttons are pressed. The rear light comes on when the overhead button is pressed. A click multi-position switch can be used to dim or cut off the lights. A basic unit can be set up easily, and the stick switch engages and disengages the system as soon as the closet door is opened or closed.

If your interior lighting fails to automatically turn on or off when a door is open or closed due to a malfunctioning component, replacing the malfunctioning component should do the trick. If you open the door in those cars, you can push and turn the button clockwise to keep the lights turned off.

To control all interior lights in your new Toyota, press and hold for about 5 seconds. Most car interior dome lights have a three-position slide switch with the center position being “Auto”. The timeout is less than an hour, and there is a button next to the dome lights that sets the interior lights to turn on when the doors are open.

The map light has a door switch you can turn off, and the little upside-down sun on the left side switch controls only turn the lights on and off.

  • Thanks Rick I bought a 2011 Chevy Silverado 4×4 last year I’ve checked everything and everywhere had my Brother-in-law and my nephew who are diesel mechanics look at the problem. When all this time I could have watched your article. I just happened to finally check you tube there you where. Again thanks pal.

  • That helped me big time, I was having the same problem. I figured it was a big issue, so I would get to it lat. After all you could at least turn the switch and make the dome lights come on. I’ve had this problem for over 2 months, and I know procrastination. But thanks a lot, this solved my problem, I never noticed that button, wow.
