Congratulations! I think you have organized your kitchen do well. We have no pantry and we are a small family. Covid forced a need to keep some foods on hand. I check foods every 2 months and anything expiring within next month that is not slated for use in next week goes to a emergency food bank so no food is wasted and others are helped. My most recent “interesting” ADHD moment The other morning, my husband said he would start the dishwasher when he got back. He said I would forget, so he would do it. All I had to do was fix our special dinner for that night. I got angry, and so I thought I would start the dishwasher. I made sure all the dishes were in the dishwasher. I got one of the cascade pods out of the container. I saw that there were only three pods left, so I opened the other container and put the three pods in. I put the old container in the recycle bin. I put a twist tie on the dishwasher handle, which is our sign that the dishwasher is running. When my husband got home, he saw the twist tie on dishwasher handle. Since the dishwasher wasn’t running, He started putting away the silverware. That’s when he started noticing the dishes weren’t really clean. He had put a bunch of silverware away, and some weren’t clean. So he opened up the pod container. The dishwasher pod was still there. I HAD FORGOTTEN TO START THE DISHWASHER!!! I had gotten distracted by combining the two boxes of dishwashing pods, and forgot all about starting the dishwasher People who have ADHD must have a good sense of humor and a spouse with a giod sense of humor

Sorry if I’m whiny here, feel free to not read any of this if you’re having a bad day or just don’t want to deal with whiny people. But man is your kitchen big! That doesn’t take away from what you’ve said. I believe your mindset is correct, like the ‘lazy method’; plates stored close to the dishwasher, glasses close to the dishwasher…etc; Sadly, for me, when the apartment was built. the “system” was given doesn’t allow that. my plates, glasses, untencils and all that were forced under the drawers that’s beneath my stoves; which is on one end of the kitchen while the sink is on the other end. The dishwasher is above the sink; and to make things even worse, most of the stuff done in the kitchen are by me and my mom and we are both short in stature, so it’s hard for us to reach anything. In your article, you can see your shelves, we need to reach or get a chair to see anything. XD And like I said, it’s a unit that was pre-installed, we don’t have the money to tear it down, it’s been a pain for us since. We have VERY limited space to store thing to begin with, being a small apartment and even LESSER space to store when taking into considation of our height. ): I really envy you so much when you can easily put the plates on the two lower levels of the shelves because our shelves are so tall, we can only see half of the lowest shelf. My number 1 rule is this: If it CAN go in my dishwasher (and I can find another use/home for it elsewhere), I am putting it in my dishwasher! I have a super small kitchen with not enough counter space or cabinet space. I have been trying to get things organized and it’s slow going but it’s getting there. I love decanting and being able to visually see what is in the containers!! Honestly I think the way you are unpacking is great! You get the rooms done as you are going instead of trying to get it all done at the same time! I prefer doing the unpacking as I bring things into the home instead of waiting till the end to unpack!
