A screen door is a great way to bring fresh air and light into your home during spring and summer evenings. To ensure the proper size for your home, it’s essential to get the measurements for your door right. To accurately measure for a screen door, follow the procedure detailed below:
- Measure out the width.
The reason to measure for a screen door is threefold: first and foremost, it ensures a snug fit, which enhances the overall functionality and efficiency of the door. If a screen door is too large, it won’t fit or close properly.
To accurately measure for a screen door, stand outside the door opening and begin on the exterior of the door opening. Measure the width across the top, middle, and bottom (A, B, C). Record the narrowest dimension and measure the opening height (vertically).
To measure a screen door, hold the measuring tape inside the door frame about 6 inches from the top and pull it across to the opposite side. Then, move the measuring tape to the inside edge of Trim A (red) to the inside edge of Trim B (yellow). Use the measuring tape to measure the doorway from the inside of the trim on the left side of the doorway to the inside of the trim on the right.
In conclusion, accurate measurements are crucial for selecting the perfect screen door for your home.
