Hanging curtains over vertical blinds is a simple and renter-friendly solution that allows for a seamless and professional-looking window treatment. Kwik-Hang’s no-drill, damage-free curtain rod brackets make this process easy and require only a few hammer taps. Vertical blinds offer excellent light control for large windows or sliding doors, making it an ideal choice for a sophisticated window treatment.
To hang curtains over vertical blinds without nails or drills, use an adjustable no-drill tension curtain rod. The brackets slide onto the existing vertical blind track, so if you have a plastic valance covering the track, remove it first. Then, use clips to hang light weight curtains like sheers right on the mechanism for the blinds.
First, install a good curtain rod by using a stud finder to go around or over the plastic abomination. Install brackets on the cornice to hang curtains in front of the blinds. Buy a set of outside-mounting brackets and a curtain rod, placing them close to the vertical blinds.
When choosing the right type of curtain rod for your space, decide where you will place the curtains in relation to the vertical blinds. Measure the width and height of the curtains to ensure they are placed correctly. This will allow you to create a sophisticated and elegant window treatment without the need for nails or drills.

📹 Hang curtains over blinds in a flash with NoNo Brackets
The NoNo Bracket is a specially engineered bracket that will allow you to easily hang curtains over vertical or mini blinds.
I JUST hung my blackout curtains with No No brackets. And don’t judge me, but as I stood there, hand on hip, feet shoulder width apart, I played the Dora the Explorer song: “I Did It…and I did a little dance. The tieranny of my neighbors flood lights ends-tonight. Mrs. Sunshine shall no longer pierce my morning eyes.🤣😊👍🏾 Update: I purchased my blackout curtains and curtain rod from Bed Bath and Beyond. Today, as I was breaking down the curtain rod box, I (finally) opened a small box they inserted. I thought (in my infinite wisdom), that this box just contained screws to screw the rod into the wall. No friends. Take a guess what was in the box? You guessed it, brackets very similar to the No No brackets. I checked and of course they would accommodate the rod and fit on my existing blinds rail. Fortunately, the No No brackets are not expensive, so I learned a moderately priced lesson. I will keep them because they are already in place and it’s nice to have back-up brackets😆

Hi Lia – GREAT article, thank you. I am hoping you can help me. I am an old guy and I’ve never done this before. My apartment’s vertical blinds and the bracket they hang from looks identical to yours. What I can’t understand is what size curtains to order from Amazon. If this helps: my vertical blind bracket is 76 inches wide and measuring from my floor to the top of the bracket is 85 1/2 inches high. Can you tell me what size curtains to buy and maybe even provide a link possibly to the ones I should get and how many panels, please? I want the very same looking curtains you showed us with those folds in them. Thanking you in advance. And keep up the good work on YouTube.
I bought the brackets about two years ago. I removed each vertical blind slat (they are just held on with clips) stacked them all together and then wrapped them in plastic and put them in my storage. Then, I got me some cotton sheers and put a metal curtain hook on the back of the rod pocket by just piercing that first layer of fabric. These curtain hooks then went into each little plastic piece that had once held a vertical blind slat. I now have sheers and grommet blackout drapes and each move independantly from one another.
Okay, first of all, you should definitely call those vertical blinds “ugly” because that’s what they are. They seemed pretty cool back when my parents got some in the 80s, but nowadays, just – no! Secondly, thank you so MUCH for this tutorial. It was exactly what I was looking for & it’s the second tutorial I’ve looked at. I’m moving into a smallish apartment this year and they have these “ugly” vertical blinds in the living room & bedroom. NOT livin’ with ’em, but I couldn’t figure out how to cover them up with curtains without completely removing them & then drilling holes for a curtain rod. This is the perfect solution. So again, thank you so much, Lia, for showing us renters we don’t have to live with (ugly!) vertical blinds! If I could give you two thumbs up, I would. 🙂
You are my hero! My new apt has these ugly, semi-funcrional vertical blinds on every window. I can’t just leave them open because im on the ground floor on a fairly active street corner, and don’t want to give anybody a show. Bit im only going to be here for maybe 6 months, and don’t want to invest $$ and labor in replacing them, then having to patch the wall.and put them back up when I leave. Thank you SO much! Hello, as a follow up, finally ordered these and put up my curtains tonight, thanks again for letting us know of this bracket type. I ordered the Nono “outside mounted blinds” bracket, and to confirm people, no need to screw anything into wall and we already know that doesn’t work well on the drywall near vertical blinds anyway. Ordered the wrong type before, but now all good. I prefer to keep the existing vertical blinds behind (though many of us have found they easily fall off, pull off individually), then flowing sheer curtains over. Yours look nice though. Wanted to follow up with a thanks, ciao
I have a townhouse and the downstairs layout drives me crazy. The front door is our entry way that goes directly into our kitchen. The kitchen is separated from the dining area by a half wall … Then directly (5 feet away) from the dinning seating area is the living room which is split into a living room/ kids area
