To replace an exterior window trim, follow these steps:
- Clean the area with a damp towel to remove vinyl dust particles.
- Fill deep scratches, gouges, and cracks with vinyl patching compound.
- Wear leather gloves before using the compound.
- Remove debris from the damaged area.
- Fill the damaged area with a single layer of compound.
- Reattach or replace a loose or broken trim strip.
- When joining and installing separate window or patio door units in a single opening, the joint where the units meet is covered with a vinyl trim strip on the exterior.
Andersen® windows and patio doors offer various exterior trim options, which are easy to install, low-luster, and virtually maintenance-free. Products made of Perma-Shield® rigid vinyl cladding or Fibrex® material components can be repaired with holes, including gouges or dents.
