This guide provides step-by-step instructions for fixing a mobile home ceiling. The process begins with an inspection, followed by preparation, repair, installation, vapor barrier application, prime and painting, and sanding down rough edges. Mobile homes without sheetrock ceilings often have tile or ceiling board, which are typically 16″ or 4′ wide and run the width of the home. Some variations of tiles are held up with screws and rosettes, while others are screwed up at the seams. Replacing mobile home ceilings can be a complex task due to the numerous variables. To install drywall, use construction adhesive over furring strips and carefully set screws below the surface without breaking the surface. If replacing with drywall, consider the weight difference between the original fiberboard and the drywall and the possibility of joists. Attaching depends on the type of joists and the desired finish. Drywall should be hung perpendicular to the rafters and screwed every 16″ along the outer edge of the ceiling. Use 2″ drywall screws and adhesive if desired.

I have to say, I’m very impressed that you are answering people’s questions about diy home repairs. It’s sad how much of a need there is for this, due to people not being able to afford home repair. 🙁 I am definitely in that category, cannot afford it and praying I see good advice ❤️🙏 I just wanted to say thank you for taking time to answer questions, I hope that you can find a way to get paid yourself for giving home repair advice but in the meantime, just thank you 😍
I have an old singlewide. We have a metal roofover so the roof is pretty well protected and not leaking. I want to remove the ceiling only in the living room 14×14 area and have an exposed ceiling. How would I do this, is it even possible? My mom says the whole house will fall down. I know the ceiling joists are probably made out of it popsicle sticks. What can I do? Our ceilings are so short that we feel like were in a short basement.
I always heard spraying don’t really help as it just makes it appear clean bit mold is still there and will just come back anyways if the infected area is not completely removed. Also just spraying and painting around the closest ceiling is not a good idea at all!! It does not treat or fix the problem as their is obvious water damage their and it will keep getting worse untill properly repaired. Maybe I saw the vid wrong idk
Hi there, I’m a woman that lives alone, I’m relatively handy and any repairs I do to my home I do without any help. So I’m hoping my question about this repair is something I can do on my own without extra hands. I’m not a weakling either LOL. Now with that said, I have a double wide mobile home that I had moved after I bought it. The move made a crack in the ceiling.. The crack is approximately 48 in Long. The ceiling panel is probably 12 ft long by 48 in wide. The crack goes lengthwise, and is beginning to sag. I would like to repair this, I’m not concerned with how it will look afterwards because I’m going to do something artsy and creative so it will be completely camouflaged anyway. So with all that in mind, do you have any suggestions or advice for me? I would certainly appreciate it. I’m in Kenly North Carolina, not sure if it makes a difference as to where my home is from. A big thank you to anybody in advance for any advice or suggestions I can get. ️ ❤️
Too funny! You just replaced my roof last week or so! I was looking for info on replacing ceiling tiles and BOOM, there you are again! I don’t disagree that it didn’t show the actual replacement process but I found what I needed to know. As for folks with the “waste of time” comments, the article is less than 4 minutes long. Get over yourselves!
Please help me asap with this it’s starting to effect my conscious and my wallet. My question is it necessary when working with a double wide / modular home to always replace the insulation when hanging a new ceiling. a new ceiling? Now personally I know the answer but would like a professional to set a guy that that acts like he’s the best builder in the world but Cuts corners and acts like it’s okay I’m working for straight and get him to stop cutting corners and stealing from the people that are giving him work by cutting corners on everything I have seen him do for this person and also should I let this person know what he’s been doing. Please
