Interior design basics can be achieved by adding dimension to walls through various wall decor tactics. These include painting accent walls, using removable wall decals, staining designs on walls, hanging mirrors, considering furniture colors, adding shelves, and incorporating textured materials. DIY accent walls can be created using paint, gallery displays, shelving options, murals, and more.
Texture can be incorporated into home design in various ways, such as rugs, linens, and decor. However, the options for adding texture to walls are limited. For example, a geometric wood accent wall can add character and interest to any room.
To create a modern feature wall, follow these simple steps: Sketch out your design, make a scale drawing of your wall, and sketch different designs until you’re satisfied. Wainscot, panels, shiplap, picture moldings, and other elements can add character, dimension, texture, and warmth to walls. Wall art pieces should fill about 3/4ths of the available space, and with the right tools and knowledge, most of these treatments can be done.
Free-form, organic sculptural wall art is great at creating depth, adding color, and bouncing light around in a room. The overlapped application gives the walls a dose of dimension and architectural interest. Hanging artwork, such as old vintage frames and 3D butterflies, can also add dimension and architectural interest.
Two key tips for using wall decor to transform your home are selecting the best accent colors, positioning decor in relation to furniture, and installing a pegboard. By following these tips, you can create a visually appealing and functional wall space that enhances your home’s aesthetic appeal.

Great article! Quick question, how would you go upon trimming around the light switch on the wall when installing the panels? The he problem I’ve run into is the panels are raised / bubbled out. Given that, they don’t run flush to the light switch once you cut around it. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼
Hi friend I saw a streamer has this in his/her room to stream. Because the plumbing they make a big hole in the wall in my room, but my friend patch it up for me. I have not sand it down yet. Do I need to sand it down before I put the panel on there. My friend already put the dry wall on there. PS. I have a disability is the panels very heavy. They look really light when you put it on.
