1. Why didn`t you build the wall on the floor and then stand it up ? That seems quicker . 2. Why did you use screws ? I know they hold better than nails but I have never seen someone use them on a wall . 3. Why did you skip drywall paper when you were ” mudding ” the wall after you had the sheetrock up ?
The stud against the wall is crooked because you didn’t cut the baseboard?!?! That makes absolutely no sense. Why didn’t you notch out the baseboard to install that first stud straight and flush against the stud inside wall your connecting your newly framed wall? That new wall immediately now has a bit of an integrity issue.
If you run the drywall horizontally, you will have to deal with a taper at the bottom where you’re going to be trying to install baseboard, and that won’t be fun – it would be easier to run the drywall vertically. Also it shows filling the joint without using paper tape (incorrect), and does not show how to finish the end of the wall or the joint to the existing wall (ie. corners). Lastly, this is built with 2×3’s, which I guess you could do, but practically no wall was ever built with 2×3’s. At best a 2×3 wall will look odd and very DIY.
Aa a carpenter of 17 years no union carpenter. Do not waste ur time blocking ur wall between ur studds. Unless your doing a wall bigger than 10 feet. The blocking I useless 💯 if anything If the wall ends not tied into another wall. Build ur end studd as an L . To strengthen the end of the wall. If u wanna reduce noise then u nail on sound bar.
Hey, Andrew! I’ve been kind of a fan of thid website for about four or five years, and I really like a lot of the stuff you do with Blender. I actually just got accepted for a digital graphic design class that I plan to start working at on my 23rd birthday on October 3rd. I’m not sure if Blender would count as graphic design, but I’ll see how things turn out depending on what software I’ll be using. I don’t know if you take requests, but I was thinking if you could make a lightbox in Blender. My dad built one for me using the THX logo, and I was wondering if it’s possible that you could recreate the logo of it.
