Our first official room makeover in the new apartment ✨ I didn’t plan on finishing the home office first, but it actually makes a lot of …
How do you layout a home library?
In order to optimize the utilization of space and introduce a greater degree of visual interest to one’s book collection, it is recommended to arrange the books in a stacked configuration, forming vertical piles. In the event that the shelves in question are of a greater width and that there are multiple books from a single author, it would be prudent to consider placing them behind other books.
How to decorate an office library?
To add storage to your home office, consider investing in a filing cabinet, shelves, cabinets, built-ins, or drawers with tray organizers. Label and color code items for easy access. Built-in shelves are elegant for book collection storage, while drawers with tray organizers keep track of staples like pens, pencils, highlighters, tape, and calculators.
When choosing the right desk for your home office design, consider its overall function. If it’s your only office, choose a sturdy, professional desk that can hold meetings and hold work documents. For a separate workspace, ensure the workspace is off limits. If your kids use the room as a homework spot, consider a two-person desk or an extended built-in counter. If you primarily use the space for odds and ends, a smaller, fashionable secretary desk might be suitable.
Decorating your home office should be functional but also reflect your motivations. Choose colors that energize you or go with patterns or stripes for variation. Globes, maps, clocks, table lamps, and vases are popular pieces. Personalize your work area with framed family photographs and travel souvenirs. Use bright, vibrant patterns for accessories like pencil cups, paper trays, and magazine holders. Bulletin boards, chalkboards, or whiteboards are great home office ideas for reminders and holding pictures or artwork. Browse more popular ideas on Houzz for more inspiration.
What spaces should be in a library?
Library space types include collection space, public electronic workstation space, user seating space, staff work space, meeting space, special use space, and non-assignable space (including mechanical space). These spaces are used for storing bound paper documents, film, or magnetic media and can include open and closed storage systems and moveable shelving systems. Libraries are general purpose and may include display spaces, reading, meeting, and electronic workstations.
The Nesconset Library in New York was a conversion of a former federal armory into a library and technical services center for the Smithtown Special Library District. The soaring open plan library space with natural light and inviting finishes, millwork, furniture, casework, and lighting created an inviting and fully accessible community environment for library patrons.
How to make a library cozy?
The interior design firm Kate Marker Interiors applied a deep, moody green hue to a home library, thereby creating a cozy and inviting space conducive to reading and leisure. The interior design scheme incorporates a comfortable armchair and Billy bookcases from IKEA, which serve to create a multipurpose space that is simultaneously a workspace and a sanctuary for leisure time reading and relaxation. Additionally, the library incorporates a wall of shelves, which can be constructed at a relatively low cost through a do-it-yourself (DIY) approach.
How can I make my library more attractive?
Libraries can effectively attract patrons by offering a series of smaller “places” within and around them, such as a vendor cart or playground. These spaces do not need to be elaborate to be successful; their purpose is to provide a variety of experiences that appeal to a diverse range of patrons.
How should I organize my home library?
In order to organize a home library, it is recommended that books be categorized according to a number of criteria, including shelf space, height, genre (fiction or nonfiction), and author. It is recommended that children’s books be sorted separately from adult books, that fiction be distinguished from nonfiction, and that fiction be alphabetized by author’s last name. The American Library Association Guide provides a list of online resources for the organization of personal book collections.
How should a home office be arranged?
To optimize the organization of home offices, it is recommended to utilize floating shelves on walls to store miscellaneous documents and equipment, and to employ vertical file folders on the desk to maintain convenient access to essential documents.
Should a desk face the window or away?
A desk view can enhance the work environment and make it feel less limited. Positioning the desk against a window, whether it’s an L-shaped or straight desk, can provide a more peaceful workspace. This location allows you to take a mental break from work and enjoy the sunlight, which can improve your mood and contribute to a more pleasant work atmosphere. While walking outside may not always be possible, having a desk next to a window allows you to view the world outside and absorb sunlight, resulting in a more enjoyable and peaceful working atmosphere. Regular sun exposure can also provide additional benefits.
How do I create a dynamic library?
To create a dynamic library in C, follow these steps: create the header file, create a C file containing functions, create the main, create object files, and create a dynamic library from the object code. Dynamic linking doesn’t require copying the code, as it’s done by placing the library name in the binary file. The linking happens when the program is run, when both the binary file and the library are in memory. You can create as many. c files as you want.

Many people underestimate the importance of working in an environment that really stimulates productivity and efficiency and could be, somehow, a source of inspiration. It’s what I’ve been trying to achieve in my home office, but there are really many details that have to be taken into account, from lighting to the ergonomics of the furniture. We just ordered a Protractor desk from Manhattan Home Design and I think that’s off to a good start. perusal these kinds of articles helps me orient myself; thanks for sharing it!

I just saw the poster, I am from Darmstadt and live in Alabama at the moment. Funny how just seeing the name of your home makes one feel good. We will be moving back to Germany soon and I love all your projects and being able to see how you translate international trends and DIY’s to German products. <3
Hey I have a question, so i am Asian okay so whenever we have to do any carpentry we are used to call the local carpenter to do this work but you did this all on your own, I mean how ? I just want to know where did you learn all this craft. I’m really inspired by you and I really like your articles. If you see this comment please reply thank you and have a nice day😊😊
I just love the aesthetic you choose for your spaces. You inspired me to follow my gut the next time I buy an apartment and just slowly do me. Because now I live in a space that looks really good, but it;s not 100%mine, because my mom convinced me that if you don’t do all of the apartment at once then you’ll have a neverendingstory with those finishes that will never be done. And it was a good call, but also now i wanna change a lot and I already don’t have the money to do so 😀 So next time- slowly nad mine <3 Thanks for sharing your journey and showing that it can take time and it's also okay :3
Aaah the make-over season has started!! I adore the desk area you created, it looks so cohesive and cozy and dreamy! Big time lover of your make-over and website. I just moved into a new studentroom and it’s very overwhelming to make-over everything but I just came up with a plan… so I’m just going to tackle each corner 1 by 1 :)) let’s head to the pinterest board!! lol :virtualhug:
Todo lindo. La maravilla de contar con presupuesto extra suficiente para hacer compras y arreglos. Esperábamos con ansias que llegara IKEA a mi país (Chile) para transformar nuestro hogar pero los productos están carísimos 😖 Talvez en unos años los valores se equiparen a Europa y podamos hacernos con ellos.
jeeeeezzz so cool!!! can you make a article about the working tools you have and use? I’m actually searching for good tools to have a base and start doing some DIY stuff myself. but this only works if you have the right tools at home. your tools look very high quality and seems like a system where you can change out a lot of stuff. 🙂
Hello..!! A long time subscriber here 🥰 Firstly, amazing amazing setup of your office room and your bed room makeover. Secondly, this might sound weird, but do you offer suggestions on how to decorate/ organize apartments? We just moved to a bigger apartment in Munich and I cannot- for the love of god- understand how to make this place warm and welcoming. 😭 I’ve only setup the basic furniture, but yet to decorate it in any way. Could you please help me? 🥺 P.S. Dein Deutsch ist schon sehr gut! Viel viel Glück für deine B1-Prüfung!
I don’t know which of the two workspaces is my favourite, this one or the previous one… I just LOVE them. My favorite part about the makeover, is the confidence with which you handle the tools! Girl, I can barely handle a drill and a hammer 🤣 you always leave me speechless with your articles, thank you Hills ❤️🫶🏻
I recommend for future wood staining projects to not pour the stain directly onto the wood. That can leave an obvious stain where the pour was and it might be more obvious depending on the type of wood used. Overall this was a pleasant article to watch! While I normally like the usual clean desk setup and office makeover articles (usually by men), they tend to all look and feel the same. It gets old so seeing a change in style, use, and presentation is refreshing.
I m so amazed and proud of how a sporean girl can be such a handy-lady. Normally many modern ladies are not able to whip up a proper meal or do some simple chores, let alone pick up the tools and start drillings. Our space is so small here and many times we rely on outsourcing to do it. We are not able to do much in a HDB. I guess only sporeans are able to relate what I am talking about. I would love to diy and i m so envious of u! Jiayou girl!
