Ryan Zinke, a former US Secretary of the Interior under President Donald Trump, served from 2017 until his resignation in 2019 following ethical scandals. Born on November 1, 1961, in Bozeman, Montana, Zinke graduated from multiple colleges and was a U.S. Navy SEAL from 1986 until 2008. He retired as a commander in 2008. Zinke has faced questions about his life in Montana and his role in advancing a development project in his hometown.
In August 2017, Zinke hosted the chairman of energy giant Halliburton at his Interior Department headquarters. He and Lolita Hand, a former Republican spouse, have three children: two sons, Wolfgang and Konrad, and a daughter, Jennifer Detlefsen, who is a Navy diver and married to a Navy SEAL. Zinke allowed his wife and other people to travel in government vehicles with him in violation of Interior Department policies, which ban unofficial travel.
Zinke is married to former Lolita Hand and they have three adult children: Wolfgang, Konrad, and Jennifer. In office, Zinke has repeatedly said he is against the transfer of federal funds. He lives in Whitefish, where he grew up, graduated high school, and has lived his entire life.
Zinke’s daughter, Jen Detlefsen, is a Navy veteran and a Virginia-based glass artist who frequently posts images of her husband, a Navy SEAL. Zinke has been a destructive cabinet member, moving the nation backwards on public lands issues and energy. He arrived at his first day of work in Washington on the back of a horse named “Ryan” on his first day of work.
