How Loud Is The Complaint About Outside Noise?

Noise level charts typically show examples of sounds with dB levels ranging from 0 to 140 decibels, but it is possible for sound to go all the way up to 190 dB. To handle tenant noise complaints, it is important to listen and show empathy, acknowledging the tenant’s concerns and understanding their needs.

In the US, the following limits generally apply: exterior noise (55 dBA) between 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. and 50 Dba (between 10 p.m. – 7 a.m.) and interior noise (55 dBA) between 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. and 45 Dba (between 10 p.m. – 7 a.m.). The “Normally Unacceptable” noise zone includes community noise levels from above 65 decibels to 75 decibels. Approvals in this noise zone require a minimum of a maximum decibel or SPL statement along with a time of day/evening when that level applies.

OSHA requires employers to implement a hearing conservation program when noise exposure is at or above 85 decibels averaged over 8 working hours. Exterior noise levels should be maintained between 55 dBA (7 a.m. – 10 p.m.) and 50 dBA (10 p.m. – 7 a.m.).

Documenting your complaint with decibel level readings showing excessive noise can help document your complaint. The noise generated by a conversation between two people standing 1 meter (3 feet) apart is usually in the range of 60-65 dB(A). Most people prefer the noise level chart provided, but the sound limits established in the law are for external noise measured outside at the property line. All outdoor amplified sound must comply with the decibel level, with the maximum decibel level being sixty dB during the day and fifty dB at night, with the exception that the measurement shall be taken at the property line.

What volume is too loud for neighbors?

Residential noise limits typically start at 60 or 55 dB, equivalent to a vacuum cleaner, and apply after 10 pm and until 7 am. These limits depend on local laws, regulations, and the time of day the disturbance occurs. It’s best to check these limits with local authorities. The decibel level for neighbors depends on the noise measured at the property limit, not the source. There’s a difference between decibel readings near the source and those tens or hundreds of meters away. When the distance from the sound source doubles, the sound drops by 6 dB.

How to tell neighbors to be quiet?

In order to address disruptive neighbors in a manner that is both constructive and in accordance with the law, it is recommended that you take a moment to collect your thoughts, engage in a discussion with your neighbor, document any instances of noise disturbance, seek advice from others, consult with your property manager, file a noise complaint, or contact the police as a last resort.

What noise level is considered excessive?

Sound is measured in decibels, with sounds below 70 A-weighted decibels (dBA) generally safe. Long or repeated exposure to sounds above 85 dBA can cause hearing loss. Common noises include normal conversation, lawnmowers, sports events, sirens from emergency vehicles, and fireworks. Decibel meters can help measure potential hazards to hearing health, such as the Sound Level Meter smartphone app developed by the CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). This app helps workers evaluate sound risks and develop strategies to prevent hearing damage.

The document outlines the recommended environmental noise levels for preventing hearing loss over a lifetime. It states that a 24-hour exposure level of 70 decibels is the most effective, while 55 decibels outdoors and 45 decibels indoors are considered safe for activity interference and annoyance. These levels allow for spoken conversation, sleeping, working, and recreation, which are essential for daily life. The levels are not single event or peak levels but averages of acoustic energy over various periods, such as 8 hours or 24 hours, and years.

Noise levels are also categorized based on the area’s use, with 45 decibels associated with indoor residential areas, hospitals, and schools, and 55 decibels for outdoor areas where human activity occurs. The document emphasizes the importance of maintaining a 70 decibel level for all areas to prevent hearing loss.

What level of noise is considered a nuisance?

Different people react differently to noise, and a noise may be irritating but not a’statutory noise nuisance.’ There are no fixed levels of noise that constitute a statutory nuisance. Environmental health officers determine if a noise is sufficient to amount to a nuisance by considering the average, reasonable person’s reaction, volume, frequency, and duration of the noise. The main legislation in relation to noise nuisance is the Noise and Sound Act.

How much noise is too much from neighbours?

The noise level in a property should not exceed 34 dBA between 11 PM and 7 AM, with background noise below 24 dBA. If the noise exceeds 24 dBA, the level should be 10 dBA higher. Landlords are not legally responsible for excessive noise, but they can ignore complaints from neighbors. If a tenant breaks local ordinances, they face legal consequences. While landlords have no legal duty of care towards neighbors, they can help mediate and address issues, maintaining a good reputation. It is essential to resolve noise complaints and ensure tenants are aware of acceptable noise levels.

Is it OK to tell your neighbors they are too loud?

If face-to-face communication isn’t feasible, leaving a note asking a neighbor to monitor noise levels is a good alternative. Be honest and direct, avoiding witty or snarky language. Simply voice your concerns and how they might address them.

If the neighbor’s noise is infrequent and noticeable during reasonable times, consider soundproofing your apartment by arranging furniture, using a white noise machine, or purchasing noise-canceling headphones. Ask your landlord or property manager to let you move into a top-floor apartment if there’s one open.

Filing a formal complaint with the landlord is recommended, but document the consistent occurrences of loud noise. The landlord will only take action if they believe the complaint is justified. Include details of the noise frequency, times, and loudness to convince them this is a real issue. Inform the landlord of previous attempts to compromise with the neighbor. The landlord may send a letter requesting quieting down and may even fine them if a noise clause in their lease agreement permits it. This may cause tension between you and your neighbor, but if it results in peace and quiet, it’s worth it.

How to tell a neighbor they are too loud?

To resolve conflicts between neighbors, it is essential to talk face-to-face and be honest about your concerns. Address specific concerns about noise and how they might accommodate them. For example, you could ask them to keep their music or TV volume at a certain time or workout later in the day to prevent disturbances. If this isn’t feasible, leave a note asking the neighbor to monitor their noise levels. Be honest and direct, avoiding witty or snarky language.

If the neighbor’s noise is infrequent but noticeable during reasonable times, consider soundproofing your apartment by arranging furniture to cover shared walls, using a white noise machine, or purchasing noise-canceling headphones. If the landlord or property manager allows you to move into a top-floor apartment, they may allow it. By doing these steps, you can find a solution that works for both parties and ensures a peaceful and respectful living environment.

How do you deal with noisy neighbors outside?

Research indicates that noise is a health hazard, not just a nuisance. Exposure to noise at close range, such as lawnmowers and motorcycles, can cause hearing damage. Noise can also cause stress, anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances. Ongoing exposure to noise nuisances can affect the ability to concentrate and learn. Schoolchildren exposed to excessive noise, such as those near airports or elevated trains, have been found to develop problems with reading and memory.

To address the noise problem, it is recommended to approach the neighbor, warn them about the consequences of creating excessive noise, suggest mediation, call the police when noise levels are too high, and sue the noisy neighbor for nuisance.

What is an acceptable noise level for your neighbours?

The NSW government has established noise level limits for residential areas to maintain a peaceful living environment. During the day, residential areas have maximum allowable noise levels of 55 dB for indoor activities and 65 dB for outdoor activities. These limits are reasonable and should not cause significant disturbance to neighboring properties. However, some noise-sensitive areas may have lower limits, so it’s crucial to consult with your local council for specific guidelines.

During the night, noise restrictions become stricter to ensure residents have a good night’s sleep. The maximum allowable noise levels are generally reduced to 45 dB for indoor activities and 55 dB for outdoor activities. However, these limits are a general guideline and may vary depending on the activity or circumstances. It’s essential to consult with your local council or relevant authorities to understand the specific noise restrictions in your area.

  • I feel like no one really takes into account the effect that loud neighbors can have on someones mental health. My neighbors play loud music constantly, they’re actually doing it right now and its midnight, and its caused a migraine and it makes me very anxious and upset. If u play ur music loud enough for ur neighbors to hear from their own home, I dont really think ur the victim when u get arrested

  • just play your music but don’t turn it on too loud that I can feel the vibration over a block away and don’t invite so many people that I have to go out of my way to take a different rote cuz your party guess park in the middle of the road or I can’t find a part spot in my own neighborhood cuz your guess took it. also don’t let your guess park in other people drive way like they own it.

  • 1:21 “came close” Learn about decibels before you say that. Like the guy said earlier, decibels are logarithmic. Rainfall is supposedly 50 dB. 55 dB has about 3 or 4 times as much power behind it. Also, there’s a world of difference between the more or less white noise of rain and the structured and ever changing noise of music. Rain sounds are often used to drown out others and aid in sleeping, while the latter is intentionally structured to force attention to itself. Loud rain sounds can have a calming effect, whilst equally loud music would be stimulating and distracting. It’s designed to be that way.

  • I found playing loud Christian praise music is perfect revenge!! All the old choir type. I put my Alexas all on their side of the walls and then I started shouting hallelujah at the top of my lungs. I do this every morning after they blast base all night. I bet they think I’m a nutter … Good! I’ve noticed they don’t do it as often they also don’t day hello anymore 😅😅

  • To be honest I am fine with normal living noises. I have no issues with my upstairs neighbors walking around, doing construction, having get-togethers, listening to music, talking, etc… They are good people. They always tone it down between 11pm-8am. Same with side neighbors. HOWEVER the downstairs neighbors are the most egotistical, perverted, selfish pricks I’ve ever seen in our apartment complex. They purposely have insanely crude and loud s*x at 1am. Screaming, bellowing, slapping, moaning, crying, dirty talk, etc… They leave their balcony door and window open with the lights on and blinds open while they behave like beasts. It shakes the walls, it’s ruining me and all the other neighbors sleep. They didn’t respond to direct confrontation, notes and even banging the walls. So now I have a loudspeaker that I point down at them right against the floor so it goes straight to their bedroom. I insulate the rest of it so no noise escapes to any other neighbors. I play a variety of sounds, usually babies crying, angry chimpanzees, construction, extremely annoying frequencies, farting, etc… during their gorilla sessions. They bang on the ceiling to make us stop but I will absolutely not stop until they stfu and behave like semi-civil neighbors. They tried telling me that it’s “not as enjoyable” if they can’t be loud. So sorry to ruin your chimpfest but some people have jobs and need to sleep during the night hours. Buy a stand alone property or learn to have some basic respect for the people around you.

  • We have a bunch of horrible people from a mad family that keep stomping around, banging things on the floor, dragging things, deopping heavy items…and everytime we do the repairs on our ceilings and cater to leakage problems and those stupid people keep breaking things and harrasing us. Neither do they listen or invest in repairs. Hopeless psychopaths let loose.

  • Sadly, our noisy neighbours live across the road on a corner and have played country and r&b loud for the past ten years. She just leaves her door wide open and sets it off…the karaoke at 4am to tina turner is also beyond belief…goes right through our walls, over the ac and tv. Had it for 10 years, kids lives disrupted, school, work, all a mess because of such selfish behavior. Police come out sometimes 4 times a night. Got recordings of her so loud, youd think i was stood next to her. Council refused to do anything…finally after 10 years, we are leaving. I agree with another poster, they should all be rounded up into their own noisy little communities.

  • I have had my fair share of noisy neighbors and one thing I have learned is that speaking to them rationally is pointless as they do not care. The only thing that works is mirror imaging their own behavior right back at them. If they are noise makers after 10PM well you legally have the right to create noise that disturbs them at 6 AM. Loud heavy metal music like Megadeath, Iron Maiden is really obnoxious and not most people’s cup of tea. I placed my speakers on top of a bookshelf and staked books under them so the speakers were right up against the ceiling right under their bedroom. Then I placed pillows around the sides of the speakers so as to not bother me or my other neighbors and I would leave my apt. You can also find a a article of dogs barking that lasts 12 hrs on the internet and leave it on when you go to work. I never looked to see what else I could find but crying or screaming babies would also be annoying. Both will drive them insane. My sister did this to her neighbors and went on vacation for 3 weeks and left her stereo on playing the same CD over and over. When she got back home there was dead silence after that move. My niece left a porn movie playing over and over for her neighbors and that worked too. It has to be a really annoying repetitive sound and loud. I also happen to have a metal ceiling in my living room which is under my neighbors bedroom and I have often grabbed drum sticks I have had for decades, stood on a bar stool and played drums on my ceiling.

  • I have been living this noisy people’s drama for the last 5 years. I have called the police many times and nothing happens even if its, like now, almost 4 am. I am really tired because I need to sleep to get up early and go to work. I just can’t understand why we do not have the law on our side on this. I hate even the word “tacos” because of my mean neighbors . I have moved 3 times in 5 years because of the same situation. This noisy people are apparently chasing me 🙁

  • Reading the comments makes me feel not so alone. I lived in a few apartments and moved to a townhouse a year ago. I thought maybe a townhouse would be more quiet. I was wrong. My neighbors hit the shared wall every morning at 445am. They load their car around 530, slamming doors several times. Then they come back and forth repeating the same until about 9am. They usually leave their dog barking til it cries early morning too. I feel like I’m going insane. I tried adjusting my sleep schedule to theirs so I can get some sleep, but sometimes I hear the banging and garage opening at midnight too. I read in the comments that people use noise canceling headphones or use earplugs to sleep so I’ll try that. I can’t move otherwise I would. Thank you for the advice. Wishing everyone peace.

  • I’m an upstairs neighbor. Super quiet. I basically tip toe everyday because I don’t want to disturb my neighbor. They recently started some loud parties, weekends fine, weekdays you gotta chill. That’s cool and cute you got a Bluetooth speaker. I don’t stomp, or do anything so obvious. I let my down firing 1000+ RMS watt outside PA subwoofer do the talking on max mix bass. Played it for like 2 minutes on 20% power which is scary bone shaking to the core loud, probably shook the entire city, surprised my windows didn’t shatter hence why I didn’t go over 20%, never heard anything again. I respect you, you respect me.

  • I will NEVER live below anyone again! I unconsciously grit my teeth so hard with all the stress from constant stomping and a 70 lb dog running back & forth, that I cracked a tooth. That will cost @ $1800 to repair. The jerk is costing me $$$ and stress! I’ve tried talking to him and he’s real good at telling me what I want to hear, then continuing as before. Management does ZERO! P.S. I sleep in my closet. *try to sleep…

  • I had noisy neighbors. The kids used to park right out front next to my driveway and play their boombox for hours. So during the day I would drag my generator out to my driveway and start it up while they were playing their music. At night when they were out there partying I would aim my flood light towards them and set it on test mode. It would flash off and on right into the car for hours. Eventually they got the message.😊

  • I have an anxiety disorder and my new upstairs neighbors kids bang on the wall 24/7, they run, cause my ceiling fan glass to rattle, they play catch with their 300 pound dog which jumps off the walls, every bang, crash, kablam, causes my heart to skip a beat, I literally can’t feel my face anymore, Im unconsciously sighing and growling, I feel that they’re literally killing me. We’ve asked management to talk to them, but they haven’t changed anything. We can’t move because rent went up everywhere around, this is the only place we can afford that allows pets. I can’t go up and talk to them cause when I did when the last neighbor was there, she ended up being a Karen, called the police on me, said I threatened to kill their kids.

  • I’m living in hell because of my upstairs neighbor, so i searched for a tip on how to get revenge and i just read your headline, now my speakers and stereo is in my bedroom, and i work the graveyard shift, so they’ll be listening to my playlist with Skrillex and Slipknot all night long until i’m being kicked out, f*ck ’em!

  • We asked our neighbor who stomp run around and drag furnitures at 3 am -7 am daily politely and they said ” well we don’t live down stairs” They obiousoly are old crack beads or something, who runs around a the house at 3 am daily ? So it’s been 8 month now I’m done asking . I know they sleep at 8 am – 4 pm because they are quiet and one time car alarm went off around 1 pm and they came out to yell shut uppl! ( yup so selfish self centered cows ) I will most definitely going to use the alarm clock thing ! I also love using ” fake police siren or fake police radio sounds ” To paranoid them because they probably are crack heads .

  • My neighbors little kid runs back and forth! 4 years old sooooooooo loud. I go out on the balcony and he’s staring down through the cracks. I wanna tell him sit his lil 🤬 down since his parents act like they scared of him. My thing is how can the parents deal with a child ripping and running jumping off stuff all day? Sounds like neglect to me! Ima put a speaker in my vent. I knew he was bad when they moved in I was walking in my apartment laughing and he was going upstairs mocking me. Lil turd.

  • Hey I understand the frustration but I can’t do any of this they would lock me up for sure. But this upstairs neighbor crap is a real problem and every apt should have anti-annoyance policies 2 warnings and you have 30 days to find a new place because ppl deserves common courtesy at the least. I even understand if you have your music up or even partying because at least it’s a reason for noise, but when you just run back n forth stomping 24/7 being a fxkng menace you need to be put out.

  • I can’t recommend fart spray enough for those crappy neighbors that deserve the odor that go along with their crappy actions. When the neighbors want to be that loud you can hear their every move, douse the hallway before they leave and again when those parties start up, spray up their car grill on those special occasions. I’ve also found taping a vibrating devices to the walls work wonders. Vacuuming the ceiling can be a time consuming chore, if planned correctly.

  • Some neighbours are just jealous of your success. My neighbours are racist and jealous of our success – they copy our style and everything they wanna be us it’s insane, creepy and psychotic. They bang on the walls, slam doors, play loud music only when we sleep. When we are up they are quiet. These neighbours got other neighbours involved spreading lies and hatred towards us (we keep ourselves to ourselves). We live on the ground floor apartment the neighbour above, the neighbour on the left and the right (the one who’s jealous and racist of us) all these 3 neighbours get together & deprive us from sleep because they can’t take it when we go out they get so jealous when they see us happy as their lives are miserable. So when we are about to sleep, the above neighbour bangs every 30mins, the neighbour on the left slams doors every 20-30mins and puts his vibration machine on for an hour, the neighbour on the right blasts music so loud that we can feel the base going through our body Clearly shows their infested jealousy and negative thinking. This is inhumane. We just lie in silence praying for them to stop, we then stuff cotton wools in our ears knock ourselves out. I believe in karma – what goes around comes around!

  • My small village used to be peaceful. Until one day these noisy people from the capital came, they’re not even buying the house, they just rent it, but act like the landlord. They’re bad with neighbors, play music loudly, talking as if one of them is in outer space, and laugh like someone is pointing a gun to their head and ask them to laugh as loud as a human can. I suspect they’re probably have a hearing problem, but even the child? I’m thinking abt moving, but wth? This is my village, not theirs. They are the one who supposed to go, as far as they can or just go back to the capital!

  • Jesus, I live in a trailer park, trying to save for a home; Moved frm one end of the row away frm the mom of 3 very very loud kids, screaming mom at the top of her lungs at 6:30 in the morning, to the other end, where we didn’t have 2 neighbors just one. This neighbor had less clutter but LOUDER kids!!! Why do people let their kids act like animals, I would be spanking some major az$!!!

  • I swear I hate my neighbor. My mom keeps saying “The walls are too thin.” Where as I actually put my head against the wall and realized just how loud he is for even his place. My last neighbors anytime they made noise it was when they argued which is understandable, but my new one just plays music that has even woke me up and ruined my sleep schedule. Yet my mom thinks it’s okay to him to be so disruptive when she’s the one who has a room not near his place.

  • Here’s what I’m going to do but I need someone with basic air conditioner knowledge to chip in lol. I heard of people using “liquid stink” to run off neighbors with its putrid smell. I WANT to dump a bunch of that shit in their A.C unit outside so their place can reek so badly they’ll have to leave. Does anyone know if that would work? Here’s my situation. Heavy set woman with like 3 kids (2 young babies that cry) and a one year old that’s runs back and forth day and night. Sometimes I hear her arguing late night, and I also don’t appreciate her playing her loud music. I tapped my broom on the ceiling late night, and she cussed at me. Another time she stomped back, which sounded like an earthquake. It’s war now. Idgaf. All she does is stay home all day and make noise. Survival of the fittest.🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

  • Targeting their down time is the best tbh. If they stay up late, make shit loads of noise in the morning. A really annoying one is set a loud alarm to go off after you have gone to work. The type of alarm that doesnt stop until you physically turn it off. That constant repeated noise becomes very irritating, very fast.

  • Our noisy neighbour next to us cranks his trap music incredibly loud and we hear it bleed through into our unit (sorry trap fans but that shit you listen is absolute dog shit). We can even hear it blaring out into the hallway. We seem to be the only ones who’ll call him in for a noise complaint when he does, but yet since it’s near impossible to evict someone these days (which can also be a good thing), we’re gonna be stuck with him for who knows how long. However… We just discovered that his stereo system uses blutooth as he accidentally connected to our blutooth sound bar that we use to watch TV with. So it’s just a matter of time before we discover which blutooth device he uses so that we ourselves can connect to it and start playing all sorts of stuff through it, like gay porn, sounds of a slaughter house, screaming babies and whatever annoying articles we can find. It’ll all be temporary until he decides he’s going to connect his phone to his stereo by way of cable but even though it’ll be short lived, it’s gonna be so cathartic.

  • I’m wondering if we could take political action via the department of housing to address these issues. There’s just common sense that is not being applied in people’s housing. I.e. if a complex will not bother to have insulation to prevent impact noise, airborne noise, or enforce quiet hours, or enforce never exceeding certain decibels (decibels that factors in how noise carries in a certain structure), then decent people should not have to suffer and put their health at risk AT ALL. Things like seeing structure of house and testing sound of walls, installation of devices like Minut, should be mandatory as part of the inspection and part of building new structures. Obviously they may affect the cost of new structures, so that part would limit where it gets built. But it’s something. I will do what I can do research how to make this happen. No way we all should risk our health to tolerate senselessness.

  • multi family homes and apartment buildings are just a recipe for conflict. You cant live your life and neither can your neighbor because you hear everything the other is doing and sometimes can even smell what they are smoking / cooking. maybe you want to do something a little loud for an hour on occasion but your neighbor upstairs is disturbed by it. You cant assume everyone has the same sleep schedule because some people work third shift and sleep during the day when you are awake. the idea of sharing walls ceilings floors. etc is just not a good idea unless you are the very few people who are dead silent all the time which is almost impossible.

  • I tried talking to my neighbors, leaving notes, etc… he won’t answer the door and just turns his tv up louder, he started doing his vacuuming at 6am (everyday), if I leave a note on his door he will walk down stairs and put it on my door. The front office can’t do anything other than email and call him (which they have to no response) and after 3 emails and 5 phone calls they told me they can’t continue because it would be legally considered harassment if they did. This is an older white American dude we’re talking about here, so get this… I taped a speaker to my ceiling and started playing Daddy Yankee and Don Omar. Who would’ve known that this prick hates Spanish music… 😂

  • My neighbor constantly stomps around all day and makes my ceiling shake. At night it gets worse because the stomping intensifies in my bedroom. I’ve banged on the ceiling so much that it’s caused minor dents. So one night I woke up at 2am and threw away their doormat. I know it was petty but instantly I felt better. I tried to place my trash in front of their door after that but they installed a camera😂so now I just place my speaker on top of my bookshelf making sure it touches the ceiling and play music as early as 6am. Management doesn’t care about my complaints so unfortunately I don’t care.

  • Revenge is fun in the movies. In real life, could easily be just setting yourself up for a nice big lawsuit. Callous people who don’t care about others are also the kind of people who, themselves are highly skilled at revenge…and much better at it than regular folks. So, the idea they would not get a lawyer and take real revenge against your prank? Yeah, might be something they would do.

  • I live in a semi detached. About 2 months ago I got new neighbors. They are much noisier than the previous owners. A few days after moving I started hearing a piano!!! It must be against our shared wall because the sound was loud enough that it could of came from my own kitchen/house! My heart would always start beating fast hearing the first note so I immediately started putting on my music very loud with subwoofer close to the shared wall. After a couple weeks of this, I haven’t heard the piano since so appears to be a success!

  • Buy a SOUND TRANSDUCER, which turns a wall or ceiling into a SPEAKER…record the neighbors own noises, then PLAYBACK THEIR NOISES AT THEM using the transducer magic when you ae not home. The ultimate passive agressive “how are you possibly going to call in a complaint about your own noise” solution 🙂

  • My neighbours right now are BLASTING music out and their dog is barking none stop, this has been going on for about 6 hours. They know we have a sick relative just out of hospital, absolute arseholes. Tomorrow morning at 6am I am going to find ‘barking dog’ articles and blast them out, followed by the loudest thrash metal music. Then the next time I see the dog in their path I will open the gates and hope it either runs away or gets run over.

  • I played music…there’s a royal poodle above my head. I got an email from housing saying noise from theirs to mine is ‘noise transference’ but when referring to noise from mine to theirs they used ‘breech of contract’ tho mine is in social hours and the dogs causing migraines and making my canvas fall iff the wall all hours og the day. There’s only 6 hours I can sleep

  • For upstairs neighbours, an old broomstick, a truck horn, and a on off switch Now you glue the stick to the horn and you have the magic rod, after that take it up on your window next to theirs and crack on They’ll say it’s from outside traffic 😂, repat ad nauseam every night different hours, I’m a gamer by the way and I own the night 😂

  • I had lived in my apartment for 6 years with 3 apartment around me and never heard anything, then the neighbor below me invited a man to live with her and he brought his electronics with him. From then on to s startling 2 YEARS of complaining to police and property management, nothing was done. I checked with the tenant right laws, and found that it is against their laws to make loud noises in the middle of the night.I consulted an attorney and asked what I could do. He said that if it is serious, I can withhold rent until it is taken care of by the management. I did this and they ignored it again. Constant stress and lack of sleep have caused a serious heart failure. This made me very upset, as I have always taken good care of myself. I put my info together and sued the management co. in small claims court. They lost and I did not have to pay the 10 months rent back and they had to move me to another apartment no later than 60 days. Check in your state if you can legally do this!

  • When the rude neighbors had sex all night at a hotel, I had an early wake up call around 4:45 am in the morning and left around 5 am. I made sure the phone rang and rang before I left quickly. Also, I flipped the tag that says do not disturb backwards and made sure it said cleaning service – ASAP . So, they would be sure to get the cleaning ladies attention early.

  • I think most people, especially adults, aren’t being loud on purpose. And getting revenge for someone who has their TV on single digits or whispers to themselves or runs bathwater or turns on a fan is INSANE. When one person makes a noise by accidentally tripping or a ceiling fan causes a door to pull shut and bounce off of fifty layers of paint so thick that it won’t even close, it makes zero sense to drop anvils on their head on weekends when they are trying to rest. It’s not the neighbors’ fault that a person is new to the city and the noise that comes with it. I know because it was a huge adjustment for me since my previous neighbors were the absolute best and lying in a cemetery. I wasn’t angry at anyone, but every little noise made it hard to rest, so I got bookcases and rugs and ran a fan at night. I’ve had weird things happen with the TV and lots of INTENTIONAL noise which lets me know that the neighbor has some issues. But when a person is going out of their way to be absolutely quiet and the neighbor still complains, I start feeling like I’m just rewarding bad behavior for all of my efforts. Thinking you are right does not give you free license to be wrong.

  • It started when I moved in: upstairs neigbors started to drill at 4.30 am… later on – when I put on my coffee dispenser – grinding coffee beans loudly and the milk being steamed even louder, they started to respond by drilling…when I was doing singing exercises they responded by knocking against the wall. When I was doing my chores they went into drilling again…Now, after one year of having been in here – I wonder whether drilling is the only thing they are able to do – or perusal tv – and they never seem to be done with it! 😞They seem to hate me right from the start without even knowing me…

  • I have years of listening to my narcissistic neighbors having music, hammering and drilling, leaving their car on from sunrise to evening. I developed tinnitus and constant noise has given me migraines. I have mild hearing loss as well. Having ADHD and cacophonia makes it worse. I would like to file a lawsuit. People who are constantly making noise are not doing it out of a hobby, these are demonic, narcissistic beings. I found the noise that bothers them. I bought a noise repellant and the high frequency bothers them. They are able to hear it when they are listening to metal and cutting metallic objects or welding and it hurts their ears. I live with family and their son and father are doing this. Their son, my age (we are adults now) asked me to take that off. I have hold a lot of resentment and I know the son has been provoking me because he wants to fight me. These are narcissists. The problem why they win is because my parents are narcissists as well and always take sides for other people.

  • had a neighbor that constantly burned garbage, like toxic thick black grey smoke every other night. It smelled like burning rubber or sometimes bleach and made breathing difficult and eyes would burn. Fire department doesn’t engage because they are confrontational and have a long history of problems with them. They burned like that even knowing one neighbor was going through treatment for throat cancer. Most other neighbors are afraid of confronting the that neighbor and just deal with the constant issues. Putting out 6 bluetooth speakers that very loudly play fire alarm sounds every time they burned worked for a while. They burn in a stove now which no better, so I guess we just wait until they die from some respiratory disease or the property/housing market crash so we can afford to move.

  • There was a neighbor who cranked their car boombox to max volume at 2:00 am. I got a bright flashlight and just shined in the car. The neighbor asked me to turn off my flashlight and stop being inconsiderate. I told them to turn off their music at freaking 2:00am and look at themselves first before calling someone else as being inconsiderate. Flashlight does a really good job for revenge, but only they are in their car and cranking their music to max.

  • Old trick i like for revenge…signing them up for dirty/nasty/embarrassing paper mail magazine with “annoying neighbor” as the name. I live across the street from a drug dealer, constant loud thumping car music all hours of day and night. Drives a remote control car with gears grinding by my bedroom window all hours of day and night. They have no brains left from all the drugs. They dont care.

  • I’ve found a few things that help living below noisy neighbors. Downtime is something that definitely has worked for me. But, I’ve discovered after remembering the noises I use to hear living above people…bathroom fan. This not only helps drown their noises-out when you want to sleep, but, it makes enough noise/vibration to have on for long-periods of time & they can’t say anything…

  • I like to record their rumblings and play it back at them with my strategically placed subwoofer turned up to 11. The room heats up very noticeably from all the sound energy and yet the calming effect only lasts for a week or so. Lately I complain every time in person, which weirdly triggers a total screaming frenzy on their side – it is good training to stay calm in stressful situations though. Hell surely is other people.

  • In my situation every single tenant (3 so far) that have moved above me, have ignored the carpeting policy of the building. I’m compliant since my entire apartment is carpeted (except for the kitchen and bathroom). Not only is my entire apartment carpeted, but I also rarely drop anything on the floor and I’m very conscious about the weight I’m putting when I walk (stumping). I have tried to solve this via the management office (for many years) and by talking to the first two tenants and in my experience, not only this doesn’t solve the problem, but it makes it worse since they seem to take offense (when I should be the offended one after years of interrupted sleep and peace). A year ago, I found a God sent ceiling noise machine and I can tell you that two months later, the second tenant couldn’t take it and left. I’ve been trying not to use it with the current neighbor (since they don’t wake me up at 3:30 a.m as the last neighbor did) but I’m starting to get a lot of sleepless nights (a lot of things being dropped, hard heel walking, furniture dragging and even stumping); All this because of the incompetent management office that doesn’t have the guts to implement the building carpeting policies. Some people when they see the machine, they ask me “why use it, to annoy them?” I don’t need to annoy anybody, but I do like treating others the way they treat me, so I basically try to give them back some of the vibration and percussion they send me through the walls, I think is only fair.

  • I lived in a co-op with loud neighbors below me for 14 years, all day every day, jumping, singing, screaming, snoring, their air conditioner in the winter, rapping hours on voice recorder. It was torturous. I couldnt take anymore i left without even selling it first i was going to loss my mind!!!! I decided on a townhouse, this way nobody was above or below me to deal with the base of the tv or music, only to realize after 1 week that I moved next door to a neighbor who sits in his basement blasting his music/TV. HOA dont seem to care. Cops dont seem to care. Going to lose my mind!!

  • this is complicated because when u annoy them back, who did start in the first place? only way is2ignore..or else ull give them power and might end up guilty when u were the one who was peacefull, society wont care cos its all about money..i moved because of this and it didnt solve the problem. Dont tell new neighbors why u did move when because most city people r just sneaky jerks, cowards behind walls, just try2ignore them but if they keep going on, gather evvidence & seek4some kind of help but never the police cos they dont really care about peasants.

  • The one with the sound of an alarm clock going off over and over is a good one. My neighbor knows his kids irritate me and I’ve been doing so for 4 or 5 years in the apartments and we’ve had several confrontations. I like that one and will use it over and over and over if I have to. Good looking out, you have a friend in Columbus Ohio!

  • Get a stereo that you can operate remotely with an app on your phone. You can blast it at strategic intervals when you’re out the house. If you work nights, that’s perfect, as you could blast it at 30 minute intervals while you’re at work, and keep the noisy neighbours awake all night. They’ll cry to the police – scummy people don’t understand the concept of hypocrisy – but if you install a door bell camera, you can just turn the music off when you see the police car arrive.

  • What about a neighbor that lives about an acre away that plays his base so loud out in his garage it comes through my bedroom wall. I tried turning my stereo up outside but that didn’t work it just annoys me more you guys have any suggestions the police won’t come because my township doesn’t have a noise ordinance. I’ve asked him several times over Messenger to turn it down and he just tells me to f off… he’s a 50-year-old biker I’m a 61-year-old grandma

  • Who’s to say one hasn’t tried to talk to these people? Gen Z is a whole new level of rude and refuses to acknowledge that other people exist or have rights to quiet enjoyment. They think they’re the only ones who have feelings, and if you try to talk to them about their extremely rude behavior, they think that’s the ultimate in “Karen” behavior

  • Today’s experience, from yesterday at 10:pm our neighbors started I mean from lots of days they are doing this towards us they disturbed my sleep, and today still 1:00 am still they are loudly speaking, laughing loudly creating noise it’s horrible😅I gonna going to write a letter in the small box and throw in there area bit I avoided it😂 because of fear.

  • I live in the country on an acre, my neighbors have even more property. Sounds like a sweet, quiet place. Almost every Friday night, holiday and their special occasion they play their music so loudly our windows shake. We can’t talk, listen to our music or watch TV. It’s the most horrible music. We are trapped.

  • Honestly, I’m 35. I’ve rented since I was 21, 22. Bad landlords, loser roommates leaving mess, door slams, loud music at 2am etc etc. Finally buy my own place 2 years ago,top floor, adore the place. My perfect place, so lucky. I talked to my neighbours and we figured out our TV noise levels so it doesn’t annoy the other out of consideration, I walk around with light feet, keep my music turned down, no noise after 10 etc. 6 months in I hear baby cries from downstairs. Oh for f…to be fair, their baby was surprisingly quiet. Only cried a few times a week and I slept well. Now though it’s walking around…and I want to murder it. Thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump doom doom doom doom thump bumb thump dum dum dum waaaaa death scream thump thump every day. 6 am, 11 am, random through the day until around 8 pm. Repetitive thumping on walls. I work from home, coding or on a call, so I kick the floor a few times. The mum thumps back. Oh it’s on biatch. How inconsiderate do you have to be to not teach your rat to shut up and not tun or bang on walls or floors? They have 2 apartments opposite, one below them and me above. Everyone can hear it. And they’re having a go at me for wanting silence. Well, it’s been 6 months or so of this and I’m genuinely on the verge of just turning my speaker bass to max, facing them to the floor and blasting music all day long with my doors closed so I don’t annoy the neighbours across from me as they’re great. I don’t care if you have a kid.

  • A refugee family moved in the flat under us. We are in Germany so they don’t work and don’t have to work. This means they are loud all day and all night. Out funiture is shaking because what ever the f they are doing. They have two children, that are 2 and probably 6 and the kids stay up and play til 11 pm or later. No wonder they have tantrums all the time. But the most annoying thing is the father screaming while talking on the phone for HOURS every night. I mean he has nothing to do and ist probably talking to his other jobless friends. Also he has a extremly loud voice sound like he swallowed a fucking tuba trumpet. His voice pierces through everything. It is loud all the time in talked to them 3 times but they don’t change. In the day time i just turn on loud music but in the night I see no solution.

  • I prefer the direct approach. I knock on their door and when they answer I ask them to please turn down the music. Sometimes it works, other times it’s only a temporary solution. I have found the threat of getting the landlord involved tends to help them comply more readily. I really hate listening to the boom, boom, boom, of the bass music loud enough to be heard through my headphones while I listen to my music. Conversational level of music is fine, but the boom, boom, boom…… In my years of renting, I find it’s usually the early 20-yearolds that I seem to have a problem with. It helps to familiarize them with the Tenants’ Rights Laws.

  • I have a noisy neighbor right next 2 my house. I live in my grandparents house and they passed away. They endure the same shit that I have to endure now. They took him to civil court and lost, years later I did the same and won, but he dont give a fuck. He does what he wants. Went to the police a couple days ago with the civil order and they didnt want to do anything. As some people have posted, it can cause a form of ptsd, just because of the constant bass sound. Right now, I dont have a lot going 4 me, but all I am thinking about is waiting4 him to go out and fuck him up. But, then I wouldget arrested. It is not fair that one would have to pay money to put a godamn wall between our houses and still the noise gets over. When, he is the one with the godamn loud music. P.s. this is Puerto Rico and our houses are fucking concrete and cement and still we can hear the godamn music clearly as if it was in our own home. I put in a motion to see if the courthouse will have us cited so I can disput them the carelessness of the situation. If not, then im buying 2 speaker box and putting fucking heavymetal to the max until he fucking stop putting music.

  • I had the neighbor from hell blasted same cd for hours Fridays and weekends. Got an idea got my other neighbors in on it we waited for her to start her apt connected to mine I put speakers against the wall at the same time I blasted heavy metal another 1 did disco the third jazz using A-holes tactic we played the same cd for hours, our music overpowered hers she had the nerve to complain 😂🤣

  • The ball thing drives the point home if you do it like I do… One bang in one spot, wait a minute, and do it again in a spot further away, rinse and repeat. My neighbor upstairs is loud from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. and sleeps during the day. We used to keep our noise levels down during the day, but since he is intentionally being an ass all night and disrupted my son’s sleep during the school year, we blast music and COD as soon as he quiets down for a significant amount of time

  • I have an old rear projector TV. That big, they sit on the floor. Mine has 2 big speakers and a sub built in. It’s a beast! I have people under me that know I am up early but play loud music anyway. I leave base test articles on and go out. I encourage my cats to play and chase each other around at 5 in the morning while I make a big deal about getting ready for work. Slam the front door on my way out and make notice taking my bike down the stairs. I don’t need to make as much noise, but I like to play tit for tat. Never fuck with your upstairs neighbor, because they will out cunt you. I am the upstairs guy and had to play this game with a few people over the years. Having a late birthday party this weekend and having loads of people round. All metal heads too!

  • I have the crackhead neighbors from hell. They have a horrible dog that barks all the time. They fight every time they run out of dope and chain smoke so much that my house smells like an ashtray. About a week ago, I had had enough so while they were sleeping during the day, I opened up all the windows and blasted a very annoying barking dog article followed by Barry Manilow’s greatest hits with me singing along very loudly and very badly. That fool came running out of his house like he was on fire! It was awesome.

  • Lol so I took my car to the performance shop And had a huge cam put in it and ran exhaust dumps straight off the headers and it is soooo loud. I remote start it ever morning at 5am before work and let It warm up for 10 mins. Oh and I also back up Right against their building. They are the apt next to me and play loud music all night and sleep all day. When I’m off work, during the day I purchased a electric piano that plays drum tones

  • what if i live in an apartment (we own the apartment, cant really move out atm)… cant even identify where the noise is coming from. it seems it comes from next floor of another apartment building right next to ours but im not sure. nor do i have access to their building to knock on their door and confront them. random noise revenge would mean bothering the whole neighborhood so its not so viable. its driving me nuts and idk what to do :((((((((((((((((

  • Most people are annoyed by noisy neighbors in the night time. Best advice i can give is wake up consistantly earlier than them and ruin their sleep schedule like they ruin yours. I slap the walls 1:30am to 2am and 4am to 4:30am so they never get more than 2 hrs sleep at a time now. They come home as a family everynight at 11:30 and stomp around til 1. I have to get up at 6 so i thought whats 2 extra alarms for a bit? It took 2 days people. They broke on the second day. I also love throwing shampoo bottles into my bathtub itx super loud and echoey at night and they cant figure out wtf it is. Everynight they wreck my sleep and everymorning i wreck theirs. LOL

  • I had some extremely annoying downstairs neighbors once, who were acting like Karens. We even went as far as being extremely quiet just to see if they would stop playing loud music and vacuuming every 5 seconds and they ended up putting a note on our door basically blaming us for what they were doing. I got them so pissed off that they moved out by basically playing my guitar really loud every day for a week straight. I would start playing at 11 am or 12 pm and just blast it with the volume on 10 for a solid straight hour, and the final nail in the coffin was me basically pointing my biggest amp at the floor and blasting it until it almost blew up and they were all outside screaming at my bedroom window. They moved out shortly after and its been peaceful ever since. Never had to play my guitar without headphones ever since.

  • My situation is slightly different. I have an autistic toddler who was making a lot of noise in the middle of the night for two days in a row, out of respect for my neighbors I left my own apartment in the middle of the night, so that my neighbors can get some sleep and it is dangerous for me to leave my apartment in the middle of the night, because I don’t stay in the safest part of town. Some of my neighbors got upset with me, because my toddler woke them up in the wee hours of the night, so they these neighbors lied to the property management and said that I had a dog in my apartment, and that my dog was running around all night and one person even said that they seen me leaving my apartment with a dog, and we can’t have animals in our apartment. Or we will get kicked out if we break the rules. I know that it was uncomfortable for my neighbors that my baby woke them up during a work day having a temper tantrum, but it wasn’t done intentionally, and these are the same neighbors who party hard every weekend until the wee hours of the morning and have the entire apartment building smelling like weed and I’ve never made a complaint. Lately, my neighbors have been trying to provoke me and one has gossiped about me to other tenants in other buildings, because now people treat me different and I can hear the gossip. I’m about peace love and light, but I think I might have to take a different approach this time. I think a reversal spell will fix my situation much better then a peace ritual.

  • The bridge of communication was open with mine after many many many times I asked him over text to be quiet. it didn’t help. I asked him to literally just be considerate of noise from 11pm to 7am (for f**k’s sake that’s alI I’m asking). He made excuses but acted like he understood and nothing has changed. I’m at my wit’s end. At this point talking to him is pointless because he is showing over and over and over that he knows and doesn’t care to be decent. What can I do? I hate confrontation but I even talked to him over text and in person and nothing changes. I want to move but there is only so fast I can make that happen. And other than him I live in a great, quiet neighborhood.

  • I have a neighbor that likes to scream s*** at my kid when she goes outside but won’t say s*** to me. Cops say they ain’t nothing they can do. I’ve told her to meet me in the yard meet me in the road meet me at that God damn waffle House I don’t give a s*** I’m ready to be done with it. And if I get half a chance I will be.

  • My neighbour who is causing all the trouble is narcissistic, she gets pandered to so she won’t scream, growl, swear and go for people. Anyone who says anything about her is being nasty to her, picking on her, and lying about her. Nothing gets done about her nasty ways. If I, or anyone else in the flats, complain about her, we are told it’s been dealt with. If it involves noise, we are hearing noises or imagining noises. I am 80 years old and was instructed to record the noises using a mobile phone, then upload them onto a computer, and send them to the council.

  • It is actually the neighbours below me so I hope that shows just how obnoxiously loud they are with their shitty techno music. Sometimes it’s even playing until 8am….. they start it at 4pm. I have knocked at 3am before & she was clearly high on something. I want to be mindful my my neighbour above me but I need to do something as the rental company won’t do anything whatsoever.

  • I downloaded a porn soundtrack and set my stereo to play it at 8am until 9am when my neighbors would finally fall asleep after partying all night 🤣 another neighbor I had played combat simulation games through his surround sound system at all hours of the day 😕 I knocked on his door to get his attention, eventually knocked hard enough to trigger his panic alarm and the police attended, he was advised to use a headset instead of his home theatre system

  • I used to believe treat others how you would like to be treated. Since moving into my own flat 2 years ago & getting stuck with a 40+ year old living above me doing alsorts of petty crap noise wise, I now believe in treat others how they treat you.. now I’m the bad guy😅😂 what’s funny is these people can’t handle it when they get it back🤷‍♂️

  • Wow……I came across this article looking to killing a neighbor with kindness lol but saw all of these suggestions….I’m living in a senior living apartment I’m on the 4th floor but the neighbor on the 5th floor omg she walks so hard I know her feet have to feel the floor its sounds like she is stomping. I tried to ignore it until she started stomping between 12am-3am. So I went up there the next day and politely ask if she could keep it down as she was disturbing my sleep….she claim she didn’t realize she was walking that hard……ok after that she calm down for about 4 days then she was back at ……so I contacted the office to file a noise complaint, the office contacted me and said they spoke with her…then it was quiet for about a week not she back at it….and she not an old woman with a cane or walker lol its 55+ living. So I was going to make something and place it at her door maybe it will make her feel some type of way and she may start being considerate ….maybe….

  • I have a neighbor who think I’m loud, he don’t like any normal living sounds and he always knock hard at the wall and scream loudly meanwhile im just sitting there and perusal YouTube on the phone on the most minimum volume and it’s still to loud…i can’t eating chips or anything or just laying/sitting there and do nothing and im still to “loud” for him so idk 😐 i don’t feel free anymore… sometimes i knock back at him…

  • I’m perusal this before work, tired as hell because I was woken up at 4 fucking 30 this morning by loud downstairs neighbors music shaking my walls suddenly. It’s like the guy stopped working, being a normal respectful 50 year old, got a gf and on roids (picked his package up for him once), and started playing music/fucking/fighting and playing games with the loudest possible surround sound. I’m not home often, so when I am home it’s basically to sleep, eat, get ready. I have a vintage speaker that’s pretty loud I could play while I’m gone at work. Ultimately, I find it pretty damn disrespectful and might end up on the Fear Thy Neighbor show.

  • I was in a similar situation 2 years ago, had a neighbor who kicked at my door almost every day for over 3 months and screamed like crazy until I opened the door and dragged him inside. He ended up suffering a broken nose and cheekbone and multiple bruises. I was arrested and charged with false imprisonment and aggravated assault. I definitely wouldn’t react like that anymore but at that point i was just stressed about having that guy kicking daily against my door.. 😩

  • The thing is I’m quite and have a child with autism. And since they moved in they have 2 kids who were constantly jumping and hit my the bedroom wall which we share and the mom plays music on Saturdays for hours. And when someone does the same I’m The bad neighbor. Now I’m the worst person in the world. Mind You they let their kid’s litter and don’t bother to pick it up

  • I was hoping you’d have better suggestions. I’ve done all these before. They’ve worked for awhile, but the noise starts again. I have a JBL 3 wireless speaker I placed on top of my kitchen cabinets and blasted Slayer and death metal music. They stopped for awhile. Then I took the handles on my broomstick/mop and walked around my apartment hitting the ceiling to make it sound like I was running and jumping, like their 18 mon. does for hours on end. It’s working for now. I’ve talked to my neighbors upstairs, both times I was polite/ respectful, but I got yelled at. Management talked to them 5xs, they’d stop for awhile and start again. It’s been 5 months of Hell! On top of everything, I’m only at my apartment 2-3 days a week because I work! I’ve decided to order a couple of ceiling vibrator’s to see if that’s helps!

  • I currently have 3 black women talking loud asf outside my window in the apartment parking lot, literally 20-25 ft away from my window which is unfortunately very thin. How in the hell do these people not fucking know how inconsiderate and rude they are ? It’s 12:49am on Sunday night they have been talking like they are at a night club with loud music playing for 2 hrs but there isn’t any music. I’d get up and go say something but 1) getting out of bed might wake my wife. 2) I’m seething with rage and venom and this will only end in anger and continued animosity, I physically cannot compute how and why anyone is this oblivious to their neighbors. It’s so far past disrespectful that if feels like they’re getting some sort of passive aggressive revenge on me. I also don’t understand how black people (especially genX & millenials) deal with each other like this, it’s not all black people but damn I live in Houston Texas and it’s ALOT of them that talk to loud and don’t seem to respect each other.

  • I have a downstairs neighbor who has pounded on my door, actually threw a half full bottle of water at my window and has called the landlord. Her complaints are about my cats running. So, just want to make it clear my cats are not the problem, because if I even walk around or accidentally drop something in my kitchen she’s banging on my floor. I do have an odd sleep schedule so she’s sleeping while I am up at 430am. I tried tiptoeing and wearing headphones when perusal TV or playing music. I am not vacuuming or working out. I’ve never had a downstairs neighbor complaining about this kind of noise it’s driving me nuts. This morning I am in my kitchen making breakfast and I dropped the empty egg carton and she’s going off banging again. I think she needs headphones more than me.😢

  • can we just make it a law that families with young kids either have to sign in their leases that they will be removed from the property if any neighbor of theirs make more than 3 noise complaints targeting them, OR they agree that they do not rent apartments except for units on the first floor/any other floor with no one below them

  • I’ve tried talking to them a couple times. All get is a bunch of gaslighting. Her husband works out daily in the garage and has to listen to loud to music. I asked if he could wear earbuds, not possible. Can he close the garage door, not possible. It’s their backyard and they should be able to do whatever they want whenever they want. It’s clear they’re both a couple of narcissists who don’t give a crap about anybody else. I did found out he has to be at work at 6am and goes to bed early. Not really wanting to stoop to this level, but am seriously considering playing loud music in my car in my driveway, but it just might be right outside their bedroom window. I just don’t understand how people can think it’s okay to force their neighbors to listen to their music 2 hrs a day, almost every day.

  • I have 2 that I use to do. When I was headed out I would take an auto putter, direct it towards the wall & leave. It knocks the wall for hours. Another I would do is take a hard plastic vibrator & tape it to the ceiling. Loose taped it it loud but a bit tighter it will make an annoying sound that they can’t identify.

  • Ok here is what I did. I have dogs that are not noisy and my neighbor who lives a couple of houses away played his “jazz” music too loud. Ok just wait until a holiday weekend when they have people over and then take a radio that you can manually control the dial and find Static. Then put it on high (take it outside) with the radio’s speaker turned in the direction of their house and then leave out for your event. It will drive them crazy! The guests will leave, it’s just too much. WHAMMO they stop because you proved you could ruin their event. Try it.. The dogs who were inside didn’t seem bothered by the static since the radio’s speaker was turned away from where they generally stay in the house.

  • We live in a townhome with strong firewalls, our neighbors play music almost constantly, electronic drums & guitars hooked up to an amp, they do it OUTSIDE AND INSIDE – it’s worse in some ways when they do it inside, at night. We’ve thought about playing horrible music back, but we don’t want to buy equipment that would be loud enough. I used to have pianos, stereos, recording equipment, electric pianos, synthesizers, drums, guitars, amps, microphones, etc, but no longer, we had to downsize and we don’t even own a stereo or radio now.

  • Have noisy neighbours who internet streams techno (thump-thump-thump-thump bang-bang-bang-bang repeatedly) speed-on-steroids music from the floor directly below. Between 9am-6pm during the day from the floor directly below when I work from home. Unfortunately, I need to work in that room. The guy who has a voice as loud as a foghorn shouts over his own deafeningly loud music so his girlfriend can hear him in the same room. However, people are allowed to be louder during day hours. It is not a nightclub, it’s a residential unit. I rejoice when they forget to pay their internet bill and it stops working for a few hours or a couple of days. Reading all the noise nuisance issues here, are there any English-speaking online ‘noise nuisance sufferers support groups’, please? I desperately need to join one. Tx.
