To clean your Canon camera, lens, and video products, follow these steps:
- Wipe off the camera’s exterior using a damp, lint-free cloth.
- Remove LCD screen and eyepiece covers and clean beneath them.
- Use a damp Q-tip to remove grit from complex seams and cracks.
- Extend zoom lenses to expose internal barrel parts and clean beneath them.
For camera bodies and lenses, it is recommended to clean parts touched with the hands such as camera grips, dials, and lens exteriors. Turn off the device and use a blower to blow away dust on the lens, viewfinder, reflex mirror, and focusing screen.
For lens cleaning, extend the lens, prop up the flash, or extend the LCD screen to clean. If the sensor needs to be cleaned directly, have it done by a Canon Service Center. Select (Clean manually) and select (OK).
If water droplets or dirt get on the camera, wipe it with a dry soft cloth or eyeglass wiper. Do not rub hard or apply force.
To clean the camera body, turn off the device and remove the battery before cleaning. Use a pre-moistened cloth or wet a soft cloth with 70-80 diluted ethanol or isopropyl alcohol to help sanitize and clean your Canon products. Lint-free or microfiber cloths are recommended.
As a measure to disinfect your equipment, use alcohol to clean the exterior of camera bodies, lenses, and video equipment, especially areas that are dirty. Use an air blower and a soft-bristled brush to remove as much dirt as possible. Add a drop or two of lens cleaning fluid to a microfiber cloth.
For lens cleaning, use a soft bristle brush or damp sponge for the body and a rubber blower for the lens.
