  • When someone says there rules can override the Constitution that is beyond scary. That’s called a dictatorship period. Those rights that are military have fought for. Its a blow to their ego anytime someone questions it or stands on their rights. The guard even said 16 years and nobody has questioned it. That is a problem. As the saying goes, one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. At least, I thought that was fitting here. Some people don’t understand the difference auditors make. Long Island audit was able to get all the signs in every police station in New York, that said, no article recording, removed. They are appealing that decision, but his attorney says it’s a done deal. He only had to get arrested for that.

  • I don’t think they should charge anything to get copies of the documents. The person doing the copy is already getting paid. The supplies used have already been paid for. They can do an assessment on how many documents are copied and given out each year to determine if they need more tax money to cover the cost. I would allow a limiting clause to charge someone for excessive abuse of the copy system. Otherwise tax money has already paid for everything and they are all our documents.

  • This is so simple that it’s bewildering how a professional clerk cannot understand records law. Firstly, they are not ‘our’ records that ‘have to charged for’. They are public records. We own them, not you. There is no charge for accessing or making copies of records that are owned by the public. The laws says that you can charge for the work YOU do, not for the work WE do. Article 6 (Sections 87.2) of the NYS Public Officers Law: “2. Each agency shall, in accordance with its published rules, make available for public inspection and copying all records,….”

  • If a security guard cannot remember a massive screw-up he caused that created his place of work to change so much I don’t think he should be a security guard because that means he won’t be able to remember actual people who have been a threat to the building to be able to prevent them from coming in. It also shows how screwed his memory is and how can you expect him to do his job properly and follow the law and the rules of his job if he can’t even remember a face that he himself confronted and caused a scene with.

  • ALRIGHT AUDITING ERIE COUNTY, That was sweet to see all the hard work of getting our 4th amendment rights back working for the people. What a change specifically with the old boy who was just sitting at the enter and exit door. He knew actually who you were come on and he tried I’ll give him that, but he was butt hurt again lol. What is the need for him to be sitting there you already passed through the metal detector, they just can’t give up that badge and gun they have been starring in the mirror for 60+ years pulling up the gun and saying hold it or I’ll shoot. Then out the door without saying anything to the wife headed to his post waste of tax payers money having him looking at the women and kids.   • I believe that the citizens need to change the laws on public records across all 50 states. Number 1 this should not be a request. If the records really belong to citizens it should be a public DEMAND. Number 2 there should NEVER be fees attached to our records. This is 2024 records are on computers we MUST have access to our records for any reason we want. Number 3 records should include police body cam, emails, phone calls and should also include government officials. Number 4 the GOVERNMENT MUST SHOW CAUSE to the courts why they deny public records and if government doesn’t follow the public records law they will be fined without lawsuits being filed.   • It should be illegal to charge fees for the hardcopy. We the tax payer pays the salary of the person doing the copying, we the tax payer pay for the paper. So why are we the tax payer having to pay again for the items we already payed for? This is typical government double taxation. It is illegal to tax a person 2 times for the same thing (even though we are actually taxed 10X or more for almost every item). Our government is out of control.

  • Im Canadian, but I always hear Americans saying how strong their constitutional rights are. What I cannot comprehend is: How can a state, municipality, city, etc impose Laws (not just rules or policies), impose laws that are stricter than Constitutional Law? Isn’t Constitutional Law supposed to be the final say? So if a law was more lenient than constitutional law, that I could understand, but to be more restrictive than constitutional law doesn’t make sense. *Dont think I’m just bashing US, Canada does this too. It’s a bit Betty on my part but he had an attitude saying he’s been there for 16yrs. The secretary in that one office had a poor attitude. The sheriff had a great attitude this time.

  • Brian is sadly a typical product of modern education. During his training, he was told the rules and law, but it never crossed his mind to look at the actual law. To be told something = to believe it without question. If you hadn’t shown up, he would have spent his Entire tenure here, and perhaps his entire career in this type of work, firmly believing that’s what the law said. Sad. I will watch the rest of the article after work, but I hope Brian is open to learning.

  • Too many public employees have no idea what their jobs are, their functions nor their duty to the public. They are simply check collectors and not public servants. And because they are ignorant and know they barely got and are able to keep this job, they are offended when the public knows more than they do about their own position and therefore many will try to get armed thugs to do their bidding when intimidation and persuasion doesn’t work. Because they know that police have less knowledge of the law, the rules and their service and will more likely follow their orders where you wouldn’t!

  • They should be preparing those for free. If there job is to just make copies than what are we paying them for? Also, the paper was already paid for by taxes. The electricity for the printer paid by taxes. The printer was paid for by taxes everything in that office was paid for by our taxes. It a freaking scam for more money for the county.

  • I mostly do gaming, but I might get into auditing when I move down to Texas or my old hometown, there are a LOT of new police officers in Perry, Oklahoma that could use a nice test of the United States Constitution, because I highly doubt they know it. I’ve been unlawfully arrested twice in the city of Perry many years ago, and refused to go back ever since, even though the two cops responsible left and I can’t find any records of them holding a current position in any field of emergency services.

  • Precrime mentality, hey give me your name in case you do something! Cops always say this, I need to know your name, in case where to happen. This is why you never give your name. It will be associated with whatever they want and you can be jailed, even if innocent. Ppl have spent weeks in jail on mistaken identity!

  • Some of these guys who are demanding your papers need to shape up. I am in England and even i know that they are out of line. I thought John Entick had sorted all this out in 1765. ( Entick v Carrington) the fourth amendment took a great deal of its content from this case. Lord Camden said at the time ” if it is law it will be found in our books, if it is not to be found there it is not law” so it cant be clearer than that.

  • 17:00 it’s not like a charging a penny per page. These people charge $.64 per page that is highway robbery so that mean they buy a pack of white pen, paper printing paper probably have 100 to 500 sheets in it for a couple bucks probably 23 dollars and they make it triple or quadruple that amount is supposed to be free because you can look at them for free if they charge you for the copies but you should be able to take pictures so you have to pay for copies what if you poor can afford it, so what they said is if you pour and you can afford it you can’t have copies of these public recordsthat’s discrimination

  • My husband is a chief engineer of almost a 300 single family condominium. And the only reason they need a sign is for account. In case there’s a fire to make sure they got a certain amount of people out that are in the building. They do not buy no means for any reason.Need an I d just a literal body count.

  • Funny isn’t it. That those records went from being a public service that they provde. Has turned into a privilege you have to pay for. I do get it they are putting this county seal on that or maybe the state seal I don’t know but I’m guessing the county seal and that is guaranteed this is a legit legal document. He just took a picture of a deed does it mean you can sell the house because a picture can be altered I guess legal document can be altered to and blah blah and so on and so forth one could argue but I understand why they could and charge for a certified document. But at the same time there’s no reason they can charge you to just read it that’s so silly! Its awesome they fixed their system. Good job.

  • 38:38 Can’t we compromise and realize we are friends and neighbors? Whether we work at McDonalds or The Pentagon we are people needing to get by. Some do it on a yacht, some on a dirt floor but circumstance do not stop joy nor do they create joy. The one thing in life each and every person has control of is their attitude and the biggest room in the house is always the room for improvement. -👍🏽
