Are There Any Samples Of Exterior Laytex House Paint Available?

Latex paint is a popular choice for outdoor wood due to its durability, resistance to moisture and UV damage, and ease of application. Latitude™ Exterior Acrylic Latex is a moisture-resistant latex paint formulated with ClimateFlex Technology™, making it suitable for extreme weather conditions. Latex paint is typically used for interior projects like walls and ceilings, while acrylic paint is better suited for exterior projects and areas with high moisture. Latex paint is environmentally friendly, offers excellent coverage, dries quickly, and is easily cleaned with soap and water.

Water-based acrylic paints, also known as latex paints, are the most popular choice for exterior house painting due to their many benefits. These paints are easy to clean and offer excellent coverage. Latex paint is a water-based product that contains pigments and often uses acrylic polymers and polyvinyl acetate as “binders”. Latex paint samples can be found at Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Benjamin-Moore, Sherwin-Williams, and Behr.

Interior paint is formulated differently than exterior paint, so it is recommended to use an exterior grade primer or one formulated for both uses. Benjamin-Moore and Sherwin-Williams are comparable in quality, but the Behr top-line is not recommended.

  • $50 is not a cheap paint. The others are just overpriced. Painted my home 20 years ago when I built it. Used PPG manor hall egg shell. Have only repainted 3 of the rooms because of a remodel. Went back with PPG. 20 year old paint looks as good as the day it was rolled. Just painted my daughters kitchen and used the same PPG as in my house. Paid a little over $50 per gal . I won’t use anything else. If I had to use another brand it would be Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams. Nothing from Lowe’s or Home Depot

  • OMG, I have so much to say here so I’ll do it in order as I’m perusal. 1) I assume that the blue color is from the one-coat cover line? Going over a yellow color, which is the hardest color to cover, will put those paints to the true test for one coat. 2) Is that marker a Sharpie, and stain blocker is a gimmick it just means it’s a thicker paint. Use the alcohol Zisser B.I.N as a primer, dries so fast that the stain doesn’t have time to go through. 3) Never dip the roller in the paint. 4) Smooth walls must be popular in Canada eh? 3/8 inch skins are used on smooth walls in America 5) you are way too aggressive with the roller in the pan. 6) Sherwin-Williams paint does not remotely cover as well as Marquee, it’s meant to be sprayed, or two coated and PPG is shite that splatters like crazy. 7) you can’t spray Home Depot paint you’ll ruin your tips it’s full of clay, limestone, and silicon that’s why it covers well. 8) Premium Plus is garbage, you’re two-coating with that and most paints will look good with two coats. 9) I’m sure you’d take off that plate before cutting around it? 10) If you’re going to sand the walls, do it before painting, if you have shedding from your roller skin it’s a bad skin. Always dampen your skin before painting and run your hand over it to see if it does shed. 11) Shame on Home Depot for recommending priming stains with the paint and rolling over it, of course, you’re going to get a different color with two coats. The point of Marquee and above is one coat to save the homeowner money and time.

  • I’ve been a home owner for 40 years, I do all my own painting. Behr works great for inside “Premium Plus”. I find that after two years Behr for exterior just doesn’t cut it. Goes on great looks great but just doesn’t hold up. This is the fault of water base paint. Los Angeles OIL BASE PAINT WAS THE REAL DEAL

  • – First, NO Behr paint tops out anywhere near $100 per gallon! Maybe in Canuck money. if you want sticker shock, go price, Sherwin-Williams paints! Dynasty tops out at $69 U.S. in America. – You admired the screw top lid, but didn’t use the spout adaptor that comes free with it. – Any acrylic water based stain killing paint or primer gets its full stain killing ability after 24 hours of cure. If you are in a hurry, use oil based Kilz! – Premium Plus”is not “a little acrylic”, it is 100 % acrylic. – Your math sucks 8×40=360 lol – NONE of the Behr paints guarantee one coat coverage accept in the sanctioned one coat palette of colors. READ the labels! – You want less splatter, stop using micro fiber covers and use a quality knit cover! – A 30 year painter who doesn’t know to pre-dampen a roller cover before loading it! – If you do spot prime with an oil or shellac based primer on stains, you risk that the treated spots will “flash” or dry to a shinier spot. – ANY paint will splatter or drip to some extent. That is why real painters put drop cloths on floors and tape the base boards! – 1/2 inch rollers should only be used with flat paint. the higher the sheen, the shorter the knap! Eggshell should already be using already be using a 3/8 ths roller! In short, a really sophomoric report from one who didn’t do his research and did not at a minimum read the labels!

  • Indeed, this was VERY interesting and helpful. Your confessions re not reading labels aside, you’re right: I’ve been happy with Behr cuz it’s all I’ve used for over 20 years. Puh-LEEEZ do another like this comparing different brands, each in their “basic” iterations. Cuz, now I’ve bought another fixer-upper and would love to know which is the best paint to use on it. Also, any advice you may have about how and whether to try painting old metal external siding f/the ’70s would be most appreciated.
