Which part of cruise ship is best for balcony?

Balcony cabins or suites on ships’ aft decks face backward over the wake, providing a soothing view and deeper verandas. Forward-facing balconies are more susceptible to winds, movement, and sea spray, and should be avoided under the bridge, as light can hamper operations at night. Private outdoor spaces are ideal for vacations, as larger ships can have more crowded public spaces. Breakfast on verandas is a perfect vacation indulgence, and room service is typically free. At sea, the ocean view is lovely, and ships don’t dock too close to each other, providing nice vistas.

Rear-facing balcony cabins on ships offer stunning views and privacy, making them popular for peaceful moments. Corner cabins provide long, wraparound outdoor spaces. On newer ships like MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line, suites are located in the corners, but other ships have more affordable balcony cabins. However, these cabins may not have much shade and may feel more movement than those in the middle of the ship. They may not be suitable for those who get seasick.

On Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class ships, one- and two-bedroom suites overlook the back of the ship with views of the AquaTheater. These suites allow guests to watch high-diving shows, dancers, acrobats, and performers jumping off 30-foot platforms into the deepest pools at sea, without the need for tickets or competition with shipmates.

  • I’ll be on the Harmony next month, and will be in a Central Park balcony on the 11th deck. Ocean view balconies are way better in terms of view, I’m sure. For one thing, CP is my favorite space on RCL ships. There’s just something so peaceful about seeing all that nature down there, and it’s fun seeing all the happenings going on in Central Park. I’m excited about the stateroom, but not so excited about the food menu. Been seeing a lot of articles showcasing the new included food options, and they don’t look that appetizing to me.

  • Hey Danny and Taylor. I stayed in a Central Park balcony on the Allure of the seas in July 2018. I think it was refurbished after. Balcony rooms are our budget but one day, at least once in our lives; my husband and I will treat ourselves to a true sweet with amenities and genie. Thanks so much and see you next article.
