📹 Cookie Decorating Practice: How to Get Good Quick
Have you ever wondered how to get really good at decorating cookies really fast? Like anything else in life, it’s all about practice.
Just thought I would mention a little tip. Everyone has been asking about the straw getting clogged after use. When I’m done I just take the straw off the can, then I take a long pipe cleaner Big bag of them at Walmart for cheap), and put in the straw, twisting as I push it through. The straw is clean as a whistle when done. Make sure to do this while the foam is still wet. Hope this helps.😉
These are so beautiful, and thank you for sharing your work. I couldn’t help but see all your pretties in the back of you, on your china cabinet. you you consider touring us through your home as to the way you decorate with them. I know I would love to see, how you decorate with them, and I am sure others would also. Thank you.
You are absolutely awesome!!! I have been looking all day everywhere how to make faux cupcake to show off my crafted cupcake stand. After 12 hours of looking, I gave up and went to work around the house, as I sat down to rest your website pop up. I looked at about over 50 articles. None of them makes sense like yours. Your Tutorial helped me greatly! I went ahead and subscribe. I hit thumbs up. I also watch the commercial without skipping, as a token of gratitude for this tutorial. I’m looking forward to see more of your blog. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!
HI. I’m new to your articles, just found them & am marathon perusal them now. Love them. I have questions to start out (some I found answers to below already or added questions onto others posts). I’m looking to do fake foods for costume props & placing onto costume pieces so I need things that hold up being transported, worn on costumes, handled a lot, maybe bumped etc… 1. How brittle & fragile are they? Someone used some expanding foam stuff here around our house & some underneath a hot tub’s wooden encasement /walling outside (here in NW Oregon, USA where it rains most of the year & temps range from 20F – 90F) ~ it seems like it is flaking & breaking off (smaller pieces). Trying to see if they’ll hold up for costuming & if can wear for both indoors & outdoor events. 2. Can you do/ have you done update articles on your creations so we can see how they have held up over time & any new advice/tips/things you’ve learned? 3. Can you include the list of supplies in the description box? I found them by reading comments but that is time consuming & noticing many others asking for them also. I’ll have more questions I’m sure. 😉 Thank you!
Hey there. First time perusal. I’m from “A Buttercup Creations” and I make wreaths and embellishments. I’m making cupcakes and donuts this week and I wanted to see how others make theirs. Love these. I’m doing it the same way. He in the US we call the foam stuff “Gaps & Cracks”. It’s in the plumbing department at Walmart. I was wandering where you got your cherry 🍒 and your carrot 🥕? Did you make those or buy those?
I love your article. You are a very pretty and symphatic woman. I speak only German. Please help me, I would like to imitate these Cupcakes so gladly. Unfortunately, no sales know this spatula. What is it for? Can you explain it exactly? Thank you very much, I look forward to your reply. Spring greetings from Germany
Hello. I’m so happy to have found your website! I was hoping you could tell me the glitter you use. I know the brand is Martha Stewart but is it called fine glitter? I am having a hard time finding Martha Stewart fine glitter, I can only find Martha Stewart Coarse Glitter in Crystal. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Your cupcakes look yummy! Can you put the website that you purchased your cherries and strawberries from please. There are so many options to choose from and I especially like your choice. Thank you for the tips. I missed what was in the first can that you used to make the actual cupcake. Could you please tell what it was. Keep up the good work. I’m hooked on your website!
I love all your articles! Not only do you explain everything so well but your personality just really shines! My question is, I made some of these and some came out pretty well but all the “bottoms” got more like stretched out, like once the foam expanded all the way my cupcake liner didn’t have all the nice ridges anymore and the bottom was rounded looking rather than looking flat. What would I do to prevent that because yours seem to have the ridges still and a flat bottom? One other thing was that on a few of them once the “icing” was on the foam cake part like shrunk away from the icing part a bit. Like a balloon deflating when doing paper mache. Any tips on how I can fix these issues? <3
I have started making these-finally! Do you think you let it dry and then cover it with mod podge to add the glitter? Also, do you think you could cover the cupcake liner with mod podge and add glitter to it? I want to use mine for Christmas tree ornaments and would like to bottom to sparkle. You do beautiful work-the best on Youtube!!
hello good afternoon, I loved your article, but I do not really understand anything in English. Can you please write the name of the material you use here and dial me, please? I would like very much to do, but I could not identify the material used, because I do not remember having seen here in Brazil. Thank you in advance and congratulations for the work.
Just saw this. Great article. I’d like to make these but I did not pick up what kind of paper you put at the bottom of the cupcake liner. You said the name but I did not catch it. What kind of paper is it? Does it come already round or do you need to cut it round? Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question. I am a complete novice! 😉
New subscriber, I love your website! 👏👏👏👏 I found your website, because I came across the website of the Curly Crafter she is adorable and very sweet, and to see she’s giving you credit for all that she has learned, I just had to subscribe to her website to support her, she’s very talented, and to yours because you are an inspiration to follow and incredibly creative! 🙏
Since there isn’t a way to message you, i will leave a comment. Just wanted to thank you so much for explaining techniques and supplies needed to make the faux cakes and cupcakes. I started perusal your articles about 5 months ago and have mastered the cupcakes. I now sell them and are doing well. Wish i could show you some pictures, but anyway, thanks so much for the help!
Thank you so much for this article. I’m a new subscriber and I can honestly say that you’re my hero! Why? Because it’s been a month now that I’m not working due to pandemic and I need something to do with my time and I’m just so so happy to have found you! I’ve watched all of your articles last night and they’re all great. You’re amazing!! Please don’t stop making this kind of tutorials. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. I live here in Banff, Canada btw. I’m going to start doing this and I’ll let you know how it goes. Could you tell me what is the brand of the craft paints that you’ve been using here and could you also make more fake cakes next time? Like black forest cake or wedding cakes if you know how. Thank you so much! Keep it up😊
I found your website a month back. I teach crafts to retired people. We’ll be making these at the end of the month. The only difference is I made my cupcake with a firm pop Pom. Today, I had fun frosting it with the lightweight spackle. Towards the end of the day, I was checking it and bumped it a little bit. The drying spackle came right off. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep it on the Pom Pom (cupcake)? Should I hot glue it a day or so later? Or do you think I should put caulking on prior to spackling with the piping tip? LOL I’m trying to figure out a way they won’t fall off because I would have to go to each location that I teach a day later. Thanks so much for sharing these incredible fun faux treats!
Greetings! Thank you for this article! I have tried to make the cupcakes but ran into a snag 😛 I made the foam “cupcakes” two days ago, trimmed and painted them yesterday and found they had shrunk today. Is this because I trimmed them? Is it because I hadn’t varnished them yet? I’m going to try again but don’t want to make the same mistake twice. Thank you!!
If you’re going to do DIYs make sure your camera is set up so we can see what you’re doing.. not focused on your face! And when you share a product.. like the varnish.. hold it directly in front of the camera for more then a half second! Otherwise the idea is good. Except I would use the sturdy, pretty cardstock cupcake wrappers
