In this episode of “Renovating Your Airbnb Space: Money, Design, and Guests”, the focus is on planning projects to tackle, getting them done, working around guests, and incorporating small design ideas for the success of an Airbnb home. The hosts can add items like new furniture, smart TVs, and up-to-date bedding to modernize their spaces.
Some of the most popular Airbnb rentals include a modern two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in a perfect location, a unique one with a full open-air patio, a well-appointed 9th floor apartment with great views, and a fully renovated apartment in the city center.
In addition to these rentals, hosts can contribute to responsible tourism by staying in a fully renovated apartment in the city center, close to the beach. Small design ideas, such as adding a rug instead of a rug, are vital for the success of an Airbnb home.
The episodes also highlight the importance of a cozy, fully equipped apartment in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Amsterdam, and Tamarin, Mauritius. The apartments are stylishly furnished, have plenty of light, and have a nice atmosphere.
In Haifa, Israel, the first floor apartment in Lakaz Del Sol has been newly renovated, with 5 guests and 2 bedrooms. The 11c @ 2B1B high-floor beautiful view building in Haifa has a 2 floors spacious apartment with 3 bedrooms, 5 beds, and 2 baths.
In conclusion, Airbnb rentals offer a variety of options for those looking to enhance their living spaces. By planning and implementing small design ideas, hosts can create a comfortable and inviting environment for their guests.

📹 One Woman’s Airbnb Home Rental Nightmare
Poonam Sandhu rented her bedroom to a couple who stopped paying and refused to leave her home. #Airbnb #Nightmare …
This happened to my coworker who rented her house to provide for her 2 handicapped children. The squatters slashed her tires, broke everything inside the house, poured soil into the garbage disposal, and did so much damage that my coworker cried for days. It cost my coworker $90K to get rid of them in the end. Only in California where criminals have more freedom than taxpaying citizens.
Similar thing happened to my sister. She had a friend from work stay with her, because she needed help, and when my sister returned from a weekend in Vegas, the friend boyfriend was at her house living there. My sister told her she cant have him living in her house, and they threaten her that they will call the cops, because she pays half the rent. Well, this was a not a signed documented agreement kind of thing, and when our family heard about what happened..It did not sit well with my brothers. They went to have the couple removed and they locked the bedroom door on them. One of my brothers kicked the door open, and they tried to call the cops but my brothers took their phones and busted it, and had them out with their belongings in matters of 10 minutes. They did call the cops from someone else’s phone, and my sister spoke with the cops and told them that she dont live there, and was there for a weekend only, and she did not pay rent. The couple couldn’t prove that they were living with her, and so the cops had them escorted off the property. My sister did lie to the cops, but she knew that they couldn’t prove anything, and didnt want to deal with the bs of their damn rights..Give a person an inch, and they take a yard! Lesson learned!
This is the world we live in now folks, get comfortable. I’ve been in her situation before, actually more than once — I will never do it again, no matter what hard luck story they give me. I couldn’t give a flying flip how bad their situation is. I’m done helping the downtrodden, homeless and addicted. They’ve ruined it for decent individuals who are really down on their luck and could use a helping hand.
I once had a client who had this same problem. The police always said it was a civil issue. I told the client to find four of the meanest looking dudes and invite them to ‘move in’ with the squatters and make life miserable for them. They dominated the bathrooms, the beds and the kitchen. When the squatters called police to complain, the police told them it’s a civil matter. The squatters were gone within 48 hours.
This happened to a friend of mine and he would cut the breakers of anything they tried to use and had a lock on the box. No hot showers, no oven, no washer and dryer, he got a small fridge for his room and cut the breakers to the kitchen, he cut the cable and wifi to their bedroom, they left within 2 weeks. As long as the electricity and water are on its completely legal to control the breakers in your home no matter who lives there.
She went wrong when she went off when she went for the cash funds. Her own greed doomed her to these people who knew the laws in her state. Airbnb is only one of the many short term rental portals. When a greedy owner forgoes their protections the consequences are on them. You got me to click on this, so good for you. No respect for the homeowner trying to cut out her protections for 3% more. Shameful
Worked for Airbnb and Property Managements, this is what happens when you go on your own. Always stay within your rental agreement on the booking platforms. Always communicate with the guests WITHIN THE PLATFORM. The host disregarded these things which made her ineligible for Airbnb’s Host Insurance Policy which could’ve covered her.
A while back in Poland there was that story of a couple who stopped paying the rent but wouldn’t move out of the property, the law standing on their side. So the owner posted an ad online to rent his apartment once more, this time free of charge, but specifically catered to declared heavy party people who obliged to make the life of anybody staying in that apartment a living mess. Needless to say, the couple who overstayed moved out after 2 days or so. That was completely legal, too.
You never take cash from someone who wants to extend. I always tell every person that new guests are coming that same day they are suppose to check out. I get them out by noon and tell them new guest are checking in at 3:00 so I need to have the place clean(even if I don’t have any guest coming). One time a couple looked suspicious and weren’t making any attempt to leave, I had 2 friends show up with suitcases as if the were checking in. That got the couple to pack and leave.
I count myself lucky because the only two renter experiences were awful, so I never even consider renting out anything ever again! People who do it are rolling the dice, and these days one can only imagine the population of the despicable humans has grown. Now, i get nervous about neighbors who have an air bnb. Not too bright of an idea if a bad egg of a human shows up.
The first thing that would have happened is a chain would have gone up around that fridge. No more food in the house for them. Next door removed from their room, water turned off to all but my own bathroom which would be deadbolted. Then music would be blasted at all hours day and night. That would be a start for me, by the end they were begging to leave.
They saw that she was sweet, and law abiding and decided to walk all over her. If she was a nuisance herself, yelling at them and complaining all day at them, maybe they would have left. How can people just be milling around your house when you don’t want them there? Take their stuff, put it outside, lock the door, and don’t let them back. She wasn’t aggressive to deal with that creepy couple. I would be so furious with them pawing through my food and walking around half nude.
Something similar happened to me this weekend. A lady who was supposed to check-out at 11 am maximum ended up checking out at 5:30 pm. From that morning she asked to extend her reservation for two more nights which I agreed to her request… she kept putting on excuses not to pay saying the system didn’t notified her etc… at 3:30 pm Airbnb’s Ambassador tells me she is not willing to cooperate and she yelled on the phone to him saying she was shopping and she didn’t had time to attend the call. The Ambassador recommends me to set on the security alarm, which as soon as I turned it on she begs me to turn it off telling me she will be out of the house in 15 mins (she obviously lied about doing shopping and was actually at the house). I don’t understand how this lady stayed for 6 hours after check-out time without any guilt. She started insulting me calling me every bad word you could imagine, threatening me that she would sued me because I forced her to leave my home with her children. I don’t live in the same city as the house. I did what I could to prevent her staying for free. The police told me what she did was trespassing because she had no authorization to be at someone else’s property since check-out time had passed. I am traumatized by this and hopefully it never happens again.
This happened to my uncle. He lived in Mexico and was renting out a home in Texas. The tenants were a family of 4(parents and two kids). They started off paying late, then skipped on months, and finally stopped paying for over a year. Police wouldn’t do anything about it because the owner was out of the country. Eventually they ended up leaving BUT not without first setting the kitchen on FIRE! They were so afraid of the fire department and police showing up that they left in a hurry. The inside of the home was destroyed, walls torn up, animal(maybe human) feces on the floor, and trash everywhere. Literally the worst nightmare
A lady did this to me and my boys in our college house. Lets just say we took turns playing loud music by her door every night all night while some of us slept at other houses. We harrassed her to the point where she had to leave because of lack of sleep. We also took everything out of the fridge and all our appliances. Just make it a living hell for them they will leave.
Kinda along the same line is my story. I own a building with a few rental units. A bar, barber shop and two apartments. When I bought the place years ago I had a woman living in one of the apartments with two high school aged kids. She just stopped paying rent. I tried to evict her, but because of the liberal tennant favoring laws I couldn’t. She wound up owing me about $6,000 by the time she moved out. She tried to get my building into the rent-assist program but I refused. Once you get in that program you’re pretty much screwed. So, I had to eat the $6k. Fast forward a couple years. Another woman moves in. She lasts about 3 months then stops paying rent, while proudly driving her Mercedes around town. I drive a Chevy. By the time she moved out she owed me about $3k. Another tennant I had during Covid. He stopped paying rent. When asked, he said that I couldnt evict him because of covid, and he was correct, even though he was working EXTRA HOURS at the time. And, when he got his “stimulus” check I didnt see a dime. He ended up owing me $5k by the time he left. We had some mutual friends that didnt like the crap he was pulling on me. One day they showed up at the apartment and moved all his crap out, along with his worthless a$$. I had NOTHING to do with that. So, when people bitch about rent prices going sky high, remember these stories. One of the reasons rent prices are so high… laws that allow this type of crap to happen. So far I’ve lost my a$$ on those apartments, and I have to make my money up somehow.
I had a scary Airbnb experience too, only I was the renter! I had rented from this guy who had two cats. He wanted someone to rent his place and take care of the cats because he was away. He insisted that I feed his cats only RAW meet. I thought it was weird and creepy. The cats were very strange. I grew up with cats and was a nursing mother to lots of kittens, sick, or injured cats. My house was like an animal shelter. My Mum has a good heart, so we took em all in. Point is, I KNOW cats, and these cats just weren’t right. I don’t know what he was doing to them. Anyway, about one week into staying there, he told me he was coming to town and he needed to share his place with me for one night. I was naive and said okay but something just didn’t feel right. The bedroom was designed differently. Sure it had a door, but one of the walls had a HUGE opening in it to the living room, so there was no privacy. I told a friend of mine what was happening and asked him if I could stay with him for one night, he said “Of course!”. When the guy came to town, I told him that I was staying elsewhere to give him his space, and that he could have his apartment to himself (even though I had paid for it). He insisted for us to meet up, but when I told him that my friend would give me a ride, his energy shifted. He told me that he didn’t feel well, and that he had decided to stay another night “You should come stay here” he said. I told him not to worry about it. The next day, he insists again to see me, “I want to show you something in my apartment” he said.
This happened to me, but I never even agreed to take a cash payment from my guest from hell. This nightmare of a woman squatted in my family home demanding that I pay her a total of $2190 to leave, eventually leaving after being coming aggressive with me. She left damage everywhere and the worst thing was that Airbnb just shut down my well established hosting business without even speaking with me after I filed a claim to address the matter. My experience was SO bad I want to tell everyone to completely boycott AIRBNB — hosts and guests alike should not use that platform. In my research I found many host horror stories, all with the same outcome of Airbnb shutting them down and not standing by the hosts rights that they claim to protect. They even remove your access to messaging records that are the evidence hosts need to address courts in their local jurisdiction. AIRBNB IS A BAD BUSINESS. It still makes me feel sick and violated.
I watched a article about a similar occurrence a few months ago. Except this happened with a granny flat/guest house type property and the “guest” pulled the same scam, then proceeded to threaten the owner and try to write him up on things that weren’t up to code. But when the owner tried to fix things to be compliant, she refused to let them in for the repairs. She ended up staying there for free for over 6 months I think. I can’t remember what eventually forced her to move out but apparently she had pulled the same scam at her previous airbnb booking as well but that owner paid her to leave. So ridiculous.
Me as a contractor worker, I use Airbnb a lot when I travel for work. I usually book a weeks stay and talk to the host about cash payments since it’ll be cheaper on my part and usually they cooperate and we come to an agreement. I would never have imagine someone would do this to anyone, just comes to show some ppl have no type of dignity.
Can’t imagine opening my home to strangers. Do you actually think that they are not going to go through every inch of your belongings to see what of value they can steal ? If the owner needs extra cash —— she could be a face model for Estee Lauter or some other line. She is beautiful. Just an observation.
I went through this a year ago people take advantage of kindness i e dead put ing my furniture in storage turned off electric gas water removed the windows storm windows January it probly15 degrees windy cold sitting in my house no lights electric to cook no heat no water to shower they left after 1 day next day turned on heat gas water changed all the locks put up security cameras motion sensor lights out side replaced the door with heavy steel fire doors
Never rent a residence for more than two weeks at a time. Once they stay long enough, they become tenants, have rights, and have to be evicted. That’s why hotels/motels have a 28 day policy. You can check out and back in, but you can’t stay 30 days on one contract. And don’t expect Airbnb to help you, either. Guests could burn your house down and you’re left with the mess!
Sounds familiar. I faced something similar with a person I thought was a friend. I was helping him to leave a toxic living situation by renting one of my art studios to him. After I rejected his sexual advances he stopped paying rent and refused to move out for multiple months. It was a total nightmare. I totally get it.
I had a couple renting one of my apartments in Cali who decided to squat, told me I have to pay them $5 grand to leave or they will damage everything. At the gym I asked my big Russian & Armenian friends to help. They came, changed locks, showed the new rental agreement with me the landlord and told them if they want their stuff back free, gotta be gone within 24 hrs, after that, they have to pay them $1 grand per day. The boys had pizza & beers perusal tv meanwhile squatters frantically moved. Having that Eastern European accent helped. 😂
it says right in the clip: she broke the AirBnB contract to go to cash only. she threw any protections she had out the window. it is unfortunate that people don’t know their rights and get taken advantage of by people who do. be very familiar with your rights especially when it comes to something that can financially ruin you.
Someone used my home as a mailing address and I was unable to have them removed by police because of this. Even though they were only there to stay a couple of days. You lose all your rights pretty fast. The cop told me go through the courts and get an eviction notice (costly action and slow) and that I also could just go get a restraining order placed against them that would be more immediate. It’s crazy because pretty much anyone could just up and use your home as a mailing address. I was prepared to have the lights, water and net all cut off but it all ended up working out in the end. Maybe that lady should get a big unfriendly dog to wonder around her home.
Yeah I would have ended up in jail for throwing their asses out of my house 👊 I don’t care what anyone says but that disrespect and walking around like they owned the place, going thru her cabinets pissed me off. I wouldn’t have been able to keep my composer like that home owner did. She handled it very well, that’s crazy she had to pay them to leave HER house. Some laws are bs. I hope she can take those clowns to court. 😡
Unfair Treatment and Lack of Customer Support: Our Airbnb Nightmare We had a bad experience with an Airbnb booking. We initially paid for a room with a double bed, but the host later informed us that it was only for one person. They demanded an additional $40 per day for each extra person, which was not clearly mentioned in the listing. Since we booked the room for a month, this meant an extra cost of $1200, which we can’t afford. It feels like the host intentionally misled us. We requested a refund due to the lack of prior information, but the host refused to refund the fee for the first 30 days and the service fee. We are disappointed with Airbnb’s customer service as well. Despite contacting them multiple times, they have not effectively resolved our issue or protected our rights as customers. We feel helpless and urge all customers to unite and fight for their rights. If we don’t speak up, others may also face similar problems. Let’s take action and raise awareness.
She straight up got tricked by squatters! How? She agreed to a cash only payment to likely cut the “middle man” aka air bnb out! However, doing that only increases your risk of non payments and of a guest stealing your stuff. AirBnB holds both guest and host accountable and that is NOT to be taken lightly. The protection and guarantee is worth whatever their cut is bro.
My sister agreed to let my other sister move in and she ended up staying YEARS!! She rocked up with her new husband and baby and went on to have another kid whilst living there. Was awful for my sister and she had a very young family too. When my sister and her family finally moved out our other sister was over the moon I would not have lasted in that situation 🤣🤣 they know not to ask me such stupidness 🤣🤣🤣🤣
In the rental contract write in a full waiver of all due process and liability. This way you can kick out scumbags regardless of a moratorium or not. Also write in the agreement that you can move in and occupy as a roommate at any time. This way if they won’t leave you can move in and….well let’s just say, make life difficult.
It’s funny how no one has posted their nightmares about renting from Airbnb. Me and my friend were visiting Atlanta and we booked a Airbnb with a Hostess by the name of Kip. The picture of himself did not match what I seen in person. We reserved the Airbnb hours in advance and when we arrive. There is a code and instructions that are emailed to us well no need for that because the guy that came running out a house with all black on, told us go ahead go in its open. Then Upon Us walking upstairs there was an African guy with severely yellow eyes inside still cleaning the place. I asked his name he said his name was Kip. I stated that I was unaware of the fact that the house was occupied by two males that were living in the Airbnb and weren’t going to leave. So we decided to leave when we got outside a pickup truck with two more males pulled up asking us why were we leaving. Four males total all wearing black! No thank you. They all were wearing all black. I demanded my money back from Airbnb and told them I will have to find other resources when I travel. They refunded my money but retaliated against me (1mth later)and lied and said they saw something in my background that would prevent them from renting to me in the future. I was more elated like keep the air-bs-nb my safety and women’s safety means a lot more to me. That was not the only crazy incident that I had with @Airbnb. It was the last
For those saying all the things they’d do to get them to leave let me tell you that the same laws keeping the squatters in are sadly in place to protect regular innocent people from whats called illegal evictions. In California if you receive mail at an address or have been there for X amount of day you have renters rights. A landlord cutting off utilities, changing locks, removing a person belongings or trying to force you out by making the place unlivable actually violates laws. This opens the landlord up to being sued and having to pay damages etc. Squatters know this and often take advantage of this law. I wouldnt recommend anyone using these tactics to remove anyone because if they are smart and scum they will use this law to their advantage.
I’ve never had a problem with renters who won’t leave the house when I also live there. I either wait until they leave for work or to shop and have a lock smith come over immediately and change all the locks. Then I throw their stuff out on the sidewalk, go back inside, lock the windows and doors and they get the hint and leave….I also call the local locksmiths and tell them only to make changes if I, the actual home owner, calls them for further service and have them ask for ID. Case closed.
To date what worries me the most and what makes me no longer trust airbnb are the hidden cameras, which even if by policy they must be mentioned but are never mentioned, and these cameras are not only placed by perverts, but also by the owners who maybe they are fed up with the damage and thefts from guests to their apartments, and therefore they install cameras inside, which rationally I understand their frustration, but it is not correct and acceptable to be filmed unaware in private environments, this scares me a lot, I don’t know about the USA, but here in Europe this phenomenon has been very widespread lately, there are hundreds of articles of guests who rent with airbnb and they check the apartment with a hidden article camera detector machine, and very often they find them!
Had a similar situation with some tenants. Court kept helping them! I was out 4 mths rent, the trouble (time and money ) of taking/appearing to court twice. They finally got out but destroyed what they could before leaving. I got no help at all! Finally just sold the apartments. It’s one thing when a person has some hard luck but sometimes these people are just theives.
Guess what… in many states you will have this nightmare. I’m in Texas and my renter’s GIRLFRIEND, not even on the lease, took over, changed locks, set a mattress on fire. My friend called police and handed me the phone, I said hi I’m the homeowner, no one is renting my home, this girl can’t in any way prove she lives there. They said we can’t get involved, get a lawyer. Of course like everyone I thought I’m going to drag her out by her hair. But some good friends sat me down and explained why I was not going to go near her. She DESTROYED my place. I did get a lawyer, he waited around to serve her and lucky me she did open the door. So I didn’t fly down to drag her out. I was renting to be with a dying parent, the lawyer said don’t spend more money, you’d win but she’ll never pay it. Later Facebk said “is this your friend?” And I quickly (and wisely) deleted and did not want to know where she lived or anything that could have made me lose it. I worked really hard on releasing my anger over that. The truth is Airbnb is great bc people don’t want a bad review, especially if you’re in a hot spot. This poor woman, people are broken, some do not care and are walking around soulless and sick.
Please take note; Never EVER let someone rent your place without proper contracts. Do NOT let them move in ahead of lease start date. And for the love of God know this, some states give residential status to a person if they have RECEIVED MAIL at an address for more than 30 days to 6 months, it varies by State.
I don’t understand the part about them refusing to be served. The law says as long as the server found you and inform you that you’ve been served, even if you refuse to take the paper, the server can just drop it by your feet and you are still legally served. The article is clear evidence they have been served. The server doesn’t seem to understand the law and keep hoping they will actually take the paper, but that’s not required.
A little over a year ago I was living with my bf at the time at his apartment. His mom had broke the lease at her apartment due to untreated bugs in the carpet so she had no choice but to stay with us. She agreed to pay a certain amount of rent but rarely did. Eventually, after several months, she overstayed her welcome (actually she called me a heifer so my bf decided enough was enough), so she was asked to leave. She refused! She also said she wasn’t going to pay rent anymore and if we kicked her out she would take us to court. That’s when we discovered that in California if someone lives somewhere consecutively for more than 2 months, legally they are considered a tenant and they must be evicted by the book, even if they’re not on the lease. If we tried to have her evicted likely we would have been evicted as well because the lease didn’t allow guests. So we found a new place to live, put in our 30 day notice, and told her 2 weeks later. We’ve since broken up but still live happily as roommates. Our new apartment is WAY better, and I haven’t spoken to his mom since LOL.
First of all, notice the article didn’t go into specifics of exactly how or where she found her “renters” from. The end of the article says AirBNB advises all those that wish to list their properties with AirBNB should go through their services for renters because they do back ground checks and advised every one to do back ground checks on any prospective “renters”. It sounds like this lady did not do her due diligence and just let these people rent her home. Where did she find them from? If she was so naive to not do a background/financial/criminal check, then she got what she deserved. She’s actually very lucky these people weren’t the type to whack her and bury her in the back yard. I rent my home. I’ve never had a problem with any tenant because every one gets checked out, everyone, no exceptions, period. No long term employment history, no rental. No income, no rental. Criminal record, no rental. No character references, no rental.
Modern world problems. When I was a kid in the 80’s, if someone didn’t want to leave your house, you simply tossed them. Three people won’t leave, and say they will resist? Ten of your male relatives show up, you beat them down, and toss them. Problem solved. Sometime the old ways were flat out better.
This is why I make sure to let all renters know I am licensed and carry and that anyone who breaks in faces that fact. I also have them meet my biker friend who is 6’6″ & 290lbs. Surprisingly, I have never had anyone think they were going to overstay and not pay one way or the other. That is my legal insurance that works.
If I’m honest, I wouldn’t handle that kind of situation very well. I’d start destroying everything. You’re going to leave my house one way or another or you’re about to face the elements with broken windows and holes through the roof. We’re also going to be in the house with no food or water or electric.
these kinda people do this all the time and with the systems in place for tenants it could take up to 6 months to get them out. what i would do if i was in this situation is get a pod(portable storage unit) have friends come over and help me load it with everything in the house including fridge, stove, microwave absolutely everything. if i could remove the central air unit so it couldn’t be stolen. and contact the electric company and tell them to turn off power and make it noted in their system to not turn back on at that address without pic ID from me the owner(its warm and sunny there) these kinda people dont need power get up when its light go to bed when its dark and water is still wet when its cold so they can get a cold shower.
This reminds me of that episode of SpongeBob where Squidward was squatting in his house for months and SpongeBob started getting mad at him, but he wouldn’t leave… only sadder, cause this is real and happens too often to good people offering a place to stay (or BnB in this case). Freeloading Poopieheads.
You should NEVER give Air BnB customers acceas to the main part of your house. I’ve seen people convert garages into very nice, conditioned living spaces complete with kitchen and bathroom. Also, if someone overstays their welcome with Air BnB, so long as they were there less than 28 days, the police CAN forcefully remove them if needed. They have no rights if they are there for under 28 days and are treated as trespassers.
